These girls dont listen

Back at the base, on the outskirts of the city, the commander was looking at his screen as soldiers on the battlefield gave him their status. A thousand Liberty soldiers were seizing the walls and had already taken most of the security, letting thousands of scavengers enter the city. Creating a tunnel, they were able to make sure a huge army could arrive without notice. That was the objective. First, scavengers were sent as they were untrained nuisances, but they had their uses in creating havoc. At the top of the chain of command was the Commander, who was under the caves with Gilius and others. For his protection though, he was back in the base leading the operation.

“What's the damage so far?” Communicating with the active field sergeants, the sergeant then reported the situation.

“So far, the outer city is overrun. But not for long, as by now the cleanser will begin to sortie.”

  “Hmm good and comms?”

  “They are in the dark.”

“Good start, phase 2 of the operation.”

“Yes sir at once!!!” The soldier then left. But before that.

  “Wait..”

  “Yes sir.”

“Where is Gilius? He should have gone to attack and seize the airbase already?” The commander who was there recalled that all objectives had been completed. Trying to reach Gilius, it didn’t take long to realise they weren’t going to get an answer. Actually, in his tracker, it was dark, showing that he either shut it off or was dead.

“No answer. I’m not getting any reading on him or any of the units there.”

“No readings, they must have been spotted. Alright, proceed with the mission. Get the wall cannons ready to provide cover fire for the troops.” Knowing that even if Gilius had failed, there was no backing down anytime now. Though he had wished Gilius contacted him with the good news, they could still continue without him.

“Yes, sir!!” Commander then turned his screen as he left everything to the units up front. He then looked behind him and saw aircraft carriers and helicopters all present. Turning to all the pilots, he then saluted them. Signalling to them, they all lifted off as they were now heading to the city.

“Let's see how you all like this surprise.”

  Back to the city

As Scavengers spread throughout the city, the soldiers of the order were desperately trying to hold the line. At the worst timing, they had not been given time to prepare a suitable defense for the city as the walls have been taken. On all fronts, the difficulty in protecting everyone was a struggle. But two arrived at the scene as they fought back.

“Reloading!!’ Karma said while holding a machine gun. She pretended to reload, but really she was using her shadows to do it as she found it troublesome to do it her self. But even with her, it seems like she was in a pickle.

“Covering fire!!!” Leonora said as she was shooting back. They were really outnumbered, as it was those two plus about ten police against 40 scavengers. Easy as it seems there was a bigger kryptonite as next to Leonora was a group of civilians. Once Leonora ran out of bullets, she then looked at the civilians as she was reloading, “ Okay, soon we will provide cover for you guys. The soldiers over there will lead you to someplace safe. When I say it, run as fast and low as you can. Don’t stop!!!” They all then nodded as they really had no way to do anything else.

Karma, with two machine guns, readied herself as she then signaled the troops as they all waited for the signal. Waiting for a bit, Karma then pours heavy lead on the scavengers. The soldiers then followed as they forced the scavengers to hide in cover. “Go go,” Leonora said as she was also firing, sniping a few down. This then gave the chance for many of the civilians to run.

Despite great efforts to provide cover, some still were in the crossfire as they were caught by gunshots. Karma then saw them as well as Leonora. They nodded to each other as they saw that. Karma then got out of cover as she tried to draw the scavenger's attention. Leonora then ran out to the injured to help drag them off.

“Come on, get up, we have to move!!!” Leonora screamed. The soldiers then came along as well to assist. In the midst of helping Leonora then felt a graze as it hit her, only to realise she was fine for some reason. However, what bothered her was tripping on some rocks. “Ah!!” Hearing that, Karma looked at her as if she had lost her focus. That glimpse of opening got a few guys to pop out as they unloaded on her literally. A dozen were shooting at her. Blasting her gun away, she got shot a few times in several places as she suddenly collapsed.

  Stolen novel; please report.

“Ugghhhh!!!” Karma, despite getting shot, persevered as she rolled to take cover.

“Karma you okay?!!!” Leonora screamed as she also managed to get to cover as well. Nodding Karma was fine, but things were going to get worse as more scavengers were coming. The civilians were still trying to evacuate the area, but still needed cover. Healing her wounds, Karma grabbed a new gun, getting ready for the counterattack. Karma was counting to three to attack. But just in a nick of timing….kabamm. A large strike from above happened that blew most of the scavengers away. Looking up, the two girls notice a helicopter above them as it is shooting at the scavengers. Lowering itself, they then saw a lady with a very large cannon strapped to her side. Seeing it, Leonora couldn’t be happier as she knew who that was. “Angela!!!”

Providing cover fire, Leonardo and Noah then slid down the helicopters as both of them activated their weapons. Landing perfectly on the ground, both of them quickly activated their shields. While there was no need, both seemed to really care for the areas they were protecting.

“Hmm, what charming heroes we have,” Julius said as he was finding it rather amusing while remaining inside the helicopter. Preparing to take a shot, he decided to take a step back and watch the show from afar.

“Well, I got to say he was very dashing,” Angela commented as even though she found it cool. Soon, helicopters were being flown everywhere as Cleansers were being sent all over the city with Avalonian troops to help fight off the intruders. In an instant, when all the police forces in the city were struggling to fight back, were instantly given the backup they needed. In fact, terror soon came on the Scavengers as they met their worst nightmare.

“It’s Diviners!!! Kill them!!” The scavengers screamed as they were shooting in fear. There were the reason they were left with nothing, as well as left to their own devices. Scavengers never fight against someone who could kill them at a whim. Especially against Diviners…that was a tall task to ask.

Ping ping, no matter if it was an RPG or even a anti tank rocket. Nothing penetrated the wall created by Leonardo as he walked towards them without a care in the world. Same with Noah, who walks closer, bringing fear to scavengers with every step.

Using machine guns, scavengers kept firing as panic coursed through their thoughts. One was trying to get the car started but because of shaky hands, they couldn’t even move the vehicle. Last-ditch effort, they threw whatever was in their pockets. But after Leonardo was walking so close at point-blank distance, the Scavengers were so scared that they couldn’t have the strength to even move as their legs were shaking without any feeling in them.

Click..click..the noise was the last thing they wanted to hear, signaling their last retaliation …they ran out of ammo. Everything was emptied out. Smiling, the two diviners then let their energy wall go as they gripped their pistols.

“Ahhh runn!!! Ahh!!!!” They all began to run, only to have their legs get swept out of them. But the two weren’t going to let anyone leave as they had anger in their eyes. In the blink of an eye, Leonardo and Noah showed their skills as they on one quick succession, shot all those who were running away. Everyone close could only lower themselves in fear as some were wetting their pants. They couldn’t even hear the screams of their comrades as many of them died in an instant.

“So do you want to do the honors?”

“No you can do it. Just make sure they're still alive to suffer a few more hits.” Noah and Leonardo then seemed to be torturers rather than defenders. It didn’t change the fate for the remaining scavengers who could only sit there in fright. Yet the cries were heard as they became test dummies for the two.

“Ahhhh!!” The last things that were heard as the two walking away with no mercy in sight. As quick as they were merciless, they changed expressions.

  “Karma, are you alright?”

“Leonora, why did you two leave?” Both Leonardo and Noah then help the two, respectively, to tend to their injuries. Surprisingly, looking at Karma, it looked like her clothes had holes, but the skin was fine. Leonora just had some small bleeding as Noah tended to it quickly.

  “I’m fine, thanks.”

“Honestly, why did you two leave like that? What if you guys actually died?”

“Yeah, and why did you go to the city?” Julius asked as it was rather strange.

“We were…” Leonora said before Karma shut her up to let her think about it before she said the wrong words. “Wanting to save the people. We are doctors, so we couldn’t stand the sight of not being able to save people.”

“Yea you are going to need every help you can get.” Karma supported. She didn’t want them to know that the reason why they were actually out was that they were here to find Fausto. It was their own secret, while it was true that they were trying to save people along the way. But this then made them realise something. They forgot about Fausto.

“Well, let's head back to the house. The order has sent out the diviners to repel this attack. We can take things from here on.” Angela said.

“NO!!” Planting their feet, the two refused to go back home.

  “What do you mean, no?”

  “We tend to the injured!!!!”

“Yeah, we aren’t that weak!!! We stopped them and saved a few hundred lives.” The two didn’t want to leave just yet without having to find Fausto. Fighting the scavengers, they thought they would have a chance upon Fausto by now. After constant fighting for a few hours, they ask several people, but got no response. Demanding to stay it wasn’t well received by the others who were looking at the two who are still green to war.

“But it's dangerous, and you guys almost got killed if we two didn’t arrive,” Noah said.

“Yeah you two may have some training but we are battle-tested and have powers. You two are likely to die more than we.” Concerned, even Angela was wanting them home as she didn’t think it was safe for them. But the two didn’t give up.

“We are going back to the back lines. It's going to be safe for us.”

“Yeah, and we will be protected.” Both were giving their reasons to stay, which didn’t seem that bad at all. Besides….

“Leonardo, we need reinforcements in the south region, requesting help now!!!” Leonardo was rather busy….

“Fine, but make sure you don’t go out. You two got it.”

“Yes sir!!” The two girls saluted as their fingers crossed behind their backs. They can go on their own afterwards. Something Julius had found amusing when he saw it from afar.
