The people were in a disarray, but hearing the warning sirens, many got up as they drove and ran towards the inner city for better protection. This was already too late, however. By the time many had gotten out of the house, they were already greeted with guns. With only the military and police allowed to possess weapons, it was clear that the civilians were not going to be able to survive this ordeal. They could only hope the bullets wouldn't land on them.

  Rusted armoured vehicles and tanks were storming the city as all of them were driving around like maniacs. Looking at the people driving those vehicles, everyone could see how ragged their clothes were. Shooting guns everywhere, they had no sense of discipline. Even the way they act, along with hygiene, was obvious compared to the Avalonians. With how different they look, it was clear who they were.

  “Scavengers!!!! Everyone run!!!!” Someone said as everyone started to panic. Guns blazing, everyone was getting shot at as Scavengers swarmed the neighbourhood. Despite the city supposedly being heavily defended, the soldiers didn’t have any way to stop them as the chain of command was in tatters. The police who were stationed there tried their best but couldn’t, as they weren’t equipped to handle such large numbers. Additionally, without warning, it was difficult for them to fight back coherently. So they could only be in fear as scavengers destroy those they were trying to protect.

  Scavengers were the poorest of the poor. When the order was first created, the first thing they got rid of was anyone who didn’t want to work, was not serviceable or provided no use. All of them were sent out to live in the rural areas while given little to no help from the government. While those of the city get the most prosperous treatment and get to live a happy life. Scavengers however were miserable as they rot in poor land where it was survival of the fittest. No kindness was given to them at all. In fact most labourers and Avalonians looked down on them as they don’t even consider them people at all for how they act. So when they were offered this chance, well most of scavengers happily joined in. After all they really had nothing to live for anyway.

  Storming each building they were ransacking, trying to grab whatever they wanted. If they found anything they didn’t like, they would destroy it. If they were women they would tried to be raped. Even women were part of the scavengers and they would do the same but on the opposite sex or same if preferred. Overall they kept on pillaging as these people were enjoying their simple desires.

  “Haha serve you right you pamper scumbags!!!” Without a shed of mercy, scavengers were shooting every civilian they could see. Not viewing each other as the same people, scavengers let out their resentment to those who were prosperous.

  “******* people give us your jewellery!!!”

  “Hahaha this feeling of shooting is so much fun.” In a span of about thirty minutes the city was flipped upside down. Already, the streets were layered with many police and civilians alike who face the unexpected.

  “What is going on?” Karma said as they were rushing to the entrance. Though it should be them wanting to leave, instead Karma was concerned for others. Knowing there was danger she came anyway.

  “I don’t know??” Leonora said in horror as she was closing her mouth. She was looking as if it was just awful. The brutality was dreadful to watch. Bodies were laying across the field that continued to mount up with little to stop it. They looked to see a few policemen try to fight back. But..

  “RPG!!!” Boom they got exploded.

  “We have to run,” Leonora urged as she had persistently been trying to drag her away. Only to be pulled into the danger. Trying to drag Karma with her to flee. Karma didn’t move. “What are you doing? We have to go???!!!!” Leonora then looked to see what Karma saw, which was a little boy walking around with a stuffed animal on hand in bewilderment. He kept walking, not knowing that he was in the middle of a battlefield.

  “Haha look that poor little kid. Who wants to shoot that kid first.”

  “Hmm bet you fifty bucks.”

  “Oh I just got a car, how about I give it to you?”

  “Oh then one shot I get both.” One of the scavengers then pointed the gun right at the boy as he was looking at them not knowing his fate. Even kids, the scavengers showed no mercy.

  “Nooo!!” Karma then rushed as she then using her shadow created a sword and a gun. Without any hesitation she fired on the scavengers forgetting this was her first ever time shooting against real people with real bullets. Hearing the sounds of firing, the Scavengers quickly took cover.

  “What the hell? who is she??”

  “I don’t know but shoot her!!” Seeing that they all tried to shoot her but she was too fast as she was able to use a house as cover. Reloading, she then looked at the boy.

  “Run!!!” But the kid was so confused that he didn’t know what to do so instead went back out. Karma, though so far, rushed at the boy to pull him back inside the house. However that was a big mistake as they followed her and were shooting several bullets at her. “Ahhh..” one landed as it shot her leg. She screamed in pain but she managed to get to the boy as she covering him up before taking her to a safe place. “Stay down.”

  “I got her!!” A scavenger said elated as they were rushing towards Karma.

  “Seems doable. What do you say? I wanna get a taste of her.”

  “Can I join in hahaa.” They were laughing as they were walking close. Hearing groaning pains they knew she was still injured. It was till they got close did they start hearing silence. Slowing their pace they were taking precaution. Not knowing that their shadow was stretching quite a bit. Karma who was behind the corner was taking deep breaths as she completely forgot what Fausto taught him. Letting her wound heal she calmed herself down so she can fight more rationally. Remembering to be patient she closed her eyes as she used her other senses to attack. Just like her training from before she was going to attack at the perfect timing. Already having a weapon at hand within her shadow in place she acted like a snake, ready for its prey. It was till their shadow’s touch did Karma instantly knew where to strike. Without hesitation Karma didn’t even take a moment to realise what she was going to do. But she did know one thing, she was going to kill. Sling she slashed at the closest one, cutting the body in half. While one who made contact with her shadow soon had a sword pop out of his leg.

  “What the…” They then looked at the leg as it was fine. When did it heal? "AH!!!" They noticed but they had no time as Karma then shot her gun at the other two before they could have reacted. In that instant, Karma had just killed three people for the first time. Yet it didn't seem to faze her at all. Karma was curious as it must be because she saw death so many times in the hospital that she was okay with it. Strange because when she cut the first one she felt no hesitation, not an ounce of regret. Even till now she didn’t know why but she felt so emotionless towards death when she had shown remorse when she couldn’t save a patient.

  “Huu..that was close.” With it being safe, Leonora was then able to catch up to Karma.

  “Karma you okay??'' Leonora said as she was checking on the leg. “You idiot you could have been killed.”

  “Sorry but I have to rescue the kid.”

  “Well don’t do such reckless things. Anyways we have to escape here.”

  “No.” Strangely again, Karma wasn’t all that afraid of the situation at all. There were gun fights and even explosions happening everywhere. But not even an ounce of fear was pouring into her. Feeling that she could keep going, she reloaded ready to go again.

  “Ok we should..wait what are you doing?”

  “You take the kid back. I will try to save as many as possible.” Karma said as he pushed the kid to Leonora. Knowing that Leonora wasn’t good with this and her lack of cardio was a risk. So bringing her would be a detriment to her and Karma as well.

  “Why?? If we get the cleansers here along with my brother we could save more lives.” Leonora felt like this wasn’t their fight and it was better to get people that do the job rather than them.

  “Yeah but they haven’t come yet. That means more people are dying while they aren’t here. I need to rescue as many as I can in the meantime.” Karma said as she then got her guns ready. Leonora then looks at her in concern because she wonders if she was crazy.

  “But you might die…”

  “Don’t worry I have a strong body.” Karma said as she was showing how her leg was fine. “Now go while I distract them.” Looking at her eyes, Leonora couldn’t believe in such determination to help others even when she could lose her life. No wonder Fausto likes her. Being influenced by her, Leonora felt some courage in her as well. She then looked at the boy.

  “Hey….you see that building over there?” The kid then nodded. “There is a bunch of candy over there. If you make it, a bunch of people will give you a bunch of candy.” Hearing that the kid then ran to that direction, Leonora then grabbed the gun from Karma as she herself got ready.

  “What are you doing?”

  “What am I doing? I’m watching your back of course.”

  “But.” Karma was worried about her safety now. But Leonora didn’t seem to mind.

  “Don’t worry I have a strong body too.” Leonora then flexed her arms. Over the few months Leonora's physique did get better as she was able to hold her own against Angela for a minute. Still wanting to stop her Karma was going to refute before an armored car came.

  “Haa a bunch of girls. Kill them!!!” A bunch of scavengers then got out as they were shooting at them. Splitting up Karma and Leonora then quickly went to cover. Waiting, Leonora got her weapon ready as she was counting ammo. Rather than trying to quickly retaliate, Leonora was rather calm as she gestured to Karma to wait. Unlike Karma, Leonora seems to have more battle instincts as she knew what to wait for. Like gaming she never rushed and played it slowly. Click all of the scavengers ran out of bullets. Even a novice soldier could tell it was the perfect time to fight back. Taking a deep breath, Leonora mentally prepared herself as she knew that she was going to do something that she never thought she would be doing. Guess she is a diviner after all.

  Taking the opportunity, Leonora with pinpoint accuracy shot her gun at them. Two of the guys fell as the others got to cover. With cover fire, Karma then rushed at them with deadly speed as before they could fire she was already within striking range. One got his hand cut off while the other was able to shoot but Karma already sliced the gun in half along with piercing the person's heart. Pulling the sword out, she relaxed herself not knowing that someone appeared with his pistol. Trying to react in time, she was trying to block the shot with his sword but bang, he was shot in the head.

  “Guess you do need my help after all.” Leonora said as she was blowing on the gun. Looking at Leonora carefully, she seemed to be able to hold her own. Despite looking the same, she had in fact looked more fit while also making her body more curvy along with her massive chest. Karma was still confused as to why her body looks even better than hers when she is so much stronger.

  “....guess you are right.” Karma admitted who then handed more ammo to her. “Guess our duo days will continue??”

  “Think you can keep up?”

  “Hmph I trust my cardio.” The two then geared up as they were going to show the world what these two ladies could do. Leonora and Karma however forgot about Faust for the time not releasing that they had also forgot their phone in the car.

  Hearing the sirens, many of the diviners and cleansers immediately sorted out. Even Leonardo and Angela who were about to sleep from staying up a whole day already were thrust into battle. But before they left…

  “Hey we are going out so stay..” Opening the door he expects to see Leonora and Karma in bed. But looking at the rope and the room being empty….they figured what happened.

  “Well so much for behaving.” Angela said as she walked to the rope. Leonora then rushed to the patio to look. “They left a while now so chances are they should be in the city.” Hearing that Leonardo soon panicked as he used the rope to get down.

  “Noah get the heli ready, we need to go to the city fast!!!” Leonardo said through his comms. He couldn’t believe the two would go to the city like that. “Hope nothing bad happens.” Hope he doesn't jinx it again.
