Set in a fictional version of pre-modern Japan called Chūshin, this is a story about Torakichi Kanemoto, an old samurai and how he helps Hanabira, the wife of his pupil, undo the curse that aflicts her child, the curse of petrification, the curse of the Ashen Beetle.
