While she had beautifully carved and created items duriime in Vivienne’s serviothing that the a vampire pared to what she was currently sitting on. “You weren’t kidding. If mom were here she’d pass out in a few minutes.” Casey propped one of the three cream-colored pillows behind her head and made herself fortable. “You have this huge television at the perfegle as well. Too bad that it’s showing that mess.” She sighed once more, “Even the lighting is perfebsp; Spiral shaped, almost like you are in space or something.”
After a polite clearing of their throat, Kody spht after Casey mentiohe television. “That was made by Twilight Tonight, to my specifications.” They ughed, “Not that you would care, but it's one hundred and twenty inches of great viewing pleasure.” Kody smiled, “It is so digitally sound that you see the pilot's eyes in the helicopters flying over the fires.”
“Okay, that is damned cool, Kody.” Casey remarked and poio a rather rge globe on the far side wall, closest to the kit entry. “What is that thing?”
With a swift kiss before she walked to the wooden structure, Sylvie pressed a hidden button uhe globe and the sts moved to reveal a very well-stocked bar with a tap in the ter. “Chilled blood my dear. The rest is standard fare. You know…vodka, gin, rum…” She poio the expetles, “I sometimes over-ordered at the bar and just brought the spare here. Not really a big deal.” She poio a few martini gsses held below just out of touch from the bottom. “I could have put normal gsses in there, but there is something about a bloody-gin martini that makes me almost sweat.” Sylvie paused before pressing the buttoher of you want one?” Whewo shook their heads, Sylvie closed the door to the bar and poio the st couple of features of the room. “Tapestries to match the rest of the house and the bck gss three-level table in front of you…and that about does it.” She snapped her fingers, “ht. The wiring aronics are all voiands and do a few things like dim the lights, turn on a radio, and ge els. You get the idea.”
“This pce is heavenly. Why didn’t y me here before now?” Casey inquired softly while gng bad forth between Sylvie and Kody. “Kody is also getting an odd look across their face, babe.”
Silently striding her way over to the semi-circur sofa, Sylvie sat down at the opposite end from Casey so that she was betweewo younger vampires. Sylvie khere was a bunch to sider and go over before they could head out ahe necessary items that would break the portal. “Let me start by answering your question, my love.” Sylvie waved her hand to indicate all of the house and smiled, “I was going to show you, of course. We just got into the mess out there and until the house near After Dark burhere simply hadn’t been enough time.”
“It was also something of a secret for her and a few others, mainly me.” Kody added a looking at the television. “Until retly Miss Rivers, you weren’t really in the position to be told about this pbsp; I mean you did work for ‘The Raven’.” They shrugged and poi the television. “I ’t see how we are going to cover this up, Sylvie. I mean how does this cil here deal with a destroyed city?” Kody then poio the s once more. “Look. Helicopters are falling out of the sky right in front of us as they pass over that damned portal.”
Slipping her feet onto the coud rexing as though there was nothing really wrong, Sylvie raised one eyebrow and looked deeper at Kody. “Is that really what you want to discuss? I keep us safe here for a very long time. No one knows where we are, we have a fairly rge blood supply and hunt just a few miles from here.” Sylvie then added, “So, shall we discuss you Kody?”
“Let me stop you there, Sylvie.” Kody offered while they ran their hands through their short-cropped hair, messing it up worse than it already was. “You weren’t the best spy. I knew someone was watg me at night. Most of the time I only caught glimpses as I worked on projects for the uy.” Chug lightly, Kody took a useless breath and tinued. “After a while, your presence was f, like I had a sort of night angel watg out for me.” They got a sheepish smile over their lips, “I mean from the parts I saw back then, You didn’t look bad or mean…so I figured why worry about a cute dy following me around.”
“Cute?” Casey giggled and rubbed her feet with Sylvie’s. “She is fu adorable.”
“Thanks baby-cakes.” Sylvie offered and turo Kody. “You were saying?”
Easing bato their memories, Kody closed their eyes and slowly pyed the myriad of things they’d recalled or felt in those few years before being turned. “I had the feeling that you were in my room, or outside my window. It was never a fearful thing, and I was holy too afraid to say anything that could make you want to leave.” Recalling how they would page through their homework or self-appointed projects, Kody had many of their designs and blueprints dash through their mind. “You helped me think.” Kody paused, “Sure, I loved Franbsp; He turned me and taught me.” Kody flopped their head ba the back of the swivel chair, “You looked out for me, if that makes sense.” They poi the wounds that were left over from the failed cyberics. “Even out there with the shadewraiths…while it was self-serving, you holy did make me focus and saved me yet again.”
