Bryan tried to touch the gold ring but to his shock his finger passed right through the surface!
"What the f-"
*Grunt*
Out of nowhere his head was overcome with a severe headache and spell of nausea and dizziness washed over his body, thankfully he was able to somehow hold on until he reached the tiny bathroom where he emptied the containments of his stomach.
Images of memories plus a lot of information which don't belong to himself surfaced in his mind.
The other Linnet which he met in that unreal dream is the owner of these memories and experiences, and it took Bryan about an hour or so to fully process everything included in these memories but he couldn't even scratch the surface of that information.
Something is for sure though, some kind of outbreak is going to happen and soon afterwards this pnet is going to be flooded with freaking Zombies!
No matter how unbelievable it might seem to someone who's rigid, realistic, and serious like himself... Bryan found himself unable to refute any of that information at all when there's this ghost-like gold ring around his ring-finger.
"Come on Mr Owen~ I'm sure such a handsome owner like yourself wouldn't let a frail girl like me spend the night wandering the streets in the cold night! I just spoke with my father earlier today and he promised to wire me the money tomorrow morning since there's some technical issue with the bank, he really works overseas and was very busy working and lost track of time and forgot to order the bank to wire everything to me. The time-difference is really such a troublesome thing~"
Bryan's track of thoughts was immediately put in a halt once his neighbor's sweet voice entered his ears clearly through the thin walls separating their rooms.
'This dialogue!' He thought while quickly stepping outside the bathroom and looking towards the calendar on his wall which is a habit of his to enjoy tearing the pages everyday as some sort of motivation to keep working hard during that day be that in study or work and to always improve.
But Bryan froze once his eyes fell on the date before quickly taking out his phone to confirm that it is real.
"Fuck... I'm almost three years back in time!" He muttered in disbelief while listening to the fat owner voice the same reply to his neighbor Linnet.
"I'm not being distrustful here but... I've had many tenants who gave me all sorts of excuses and I end up making all sorts of losses in the end," After a short pause he added : "I believe I deserve some sort of insurance... don't you think?"
'This douchebag.' Bryan thought while hurrying to open the first drawer of his desk and quickly counted the amount of money required to pay his neighbor's rent before storming out of his room.
"H-how would I do tha-"
*Knock Knock*
Linnet's words were interrupted when the two of them heard firm knocking on her door, deep inside she felt slightly surprised and relieved once she heard it and more than happy to see the clear signs of annoyance on the owner's face.
"Huh!" The girl was confused once she opened the door because it's her handsome and shy neighbor who rarely interacts with her other than giving curt and overly polite greetings whenever they cross paths, but judging by the way he looks at the moment... he's either very sick or just met a ghost.
"Sorry to bother you so te in the night," Bryan said while giving the fat piece of shit ndlord a side-gnce, "Can we talk?" Then he looked at Linnet right in the eyes and asked while gesturing with his head for her to join him to the side outside her room where they can speak in private.
Linnet on the other hand almost ughed once she saw this young man scold the owner in disguised words who huffed in dissatisfaction, but her surprise was quite much once she noticed her neighbor's serious and confident attitude which was a different yet charming side of himself.
'He needs to do something about the smell though, and quickly! This fellow stinks bad... was he drinking?' She thought while nodding then ignored the owner completely and followed her neighbor.
Bryan stopped at the door of his room and turned to face Linnet before gesturing for her to keep her silence with a finger on his lips, "Your father kept trying to reach out to you but you must've muted your phone like always, "stop doing that" he says," He made sure to keep his voice loud enough for the ndlord to hear, "Thankfully my alchemy professor is a close friend with your old man and the st time he was here we got to talk a bit that's why he called and had my professor wire the money directly to me but as you can see I've been sick all day and forgot to give it to you so... here it is."
'You're lying through your teeth aren't ya!' She gawked from amazement while listening to him but her gaze softened extremely once she saw him nod and push the money in her hand.
Mr Owen the ndlord was gnashing his teeth and gring at him but Bryan completely ignored the warning gaze from this fatty without feeling a shred of intimidation whatsoever.
Linnet twirled to face the owner while fshing him the bills and a cute smile as she said : "See! I told you my father would wire me the rent."
Mr Owen begrudgingly took the money and counted it twice then snorted and started walking away while saying : "I wonder how are you going to live the rest of the month without money, come find me when you're ready to have a nice hot meal."
Bryan raised both hands and gave the ndlord's back two middle fingers which caused his neighbor Linnet to giggle in amusement before mimicking his action and adding two more middle fingers.
"I owe you one." Linnet said.
"Don't mention it, this bastard thinks he can take advantage of other people left and right because they're having trouble... I hate his kind." Bryan said while remembering how it felt to suffer deep feelings of regret whenever he recalled this day when he could've just reached out to help this girl in a time of need.
She didn't even notice the deep blush on her face when she fell in a daze as she stared at him, but the moment he noticed her looking at him she panicked and ran into her room as if escaping from his eyes while saying : "Anyway, thanks!"
Bryan scratched his cheek in confusion while thinking : 'I just hope doing this favor would give me some peace of mind in the future, and I better do something with the time I have before the Zombie outbreak... fortunately I know that nothing is going to happen before the day I was sent to that weird pce where I met with the other Linnet.'
But once he turned to enter his room the next door opened and his neighbor shyly stuck half her body before saying : "Catch." While tossing something towards him.
He was immediately able to notice that it's small and before snatching it out of reflex he saw the reflection of light against its surface, opening his hand he saw a very familiar gold ring and heard Linnet giggle before saying : "Don't be fooled by looks, it's fake... unfortunately! But consider it a token of appreciation. Let's be friends."
*Bang*
Bryan rolled his eyes once she smmed the door in his face for the second time while thinking : 'Looks like I don't get to have a saying on this matter, but I'm going to ruin your fun if you start inviting strangers deep into the night.' Then shook his head and entered his room and closed the door behind him.
"I better get a shower and some rest since I do have a final test tomorrow... is she really sure this isn't gold? Looks pretty gold to me!" He muttered while taking off his clothes in the bathroom then wore the gold ring on the same finger until it fit perfectly with the ghost-like ring.
"Whoa!" Bryan was utterly entranced by the sight which appeared within his mind, like some sort of gate to a completely different dimension which suddenly became avaible to him.
