Bryan followed Spencer who was kind enough to give him a few minutes to catch his breath first before throwing : "Follow me brat." at him.
Their destination went through familiar roads and true enough in the end he found himself standing in the same courtyard with the blonde man and Amy quickly came to take Bryan's hand then led him inside, soon afterwards he found himself inside Linnet's room once again but unlike yesterday she was standing at the window seemingly lost in thoughts while looking outside.
"Come." Seconds ter the girl called the boy over while gesturing for the maid to leave which quickly left and closed the heavy door behind her.
Bryan stood next to her but quickly frowned once his height failed to satisfy the requirements for him to take a look outside, which is why he looked around for something to boost his stature and he went to drag a chair which caused quite the noise.
Of course his muscles, tendons , and bones were screaming from pain but he persevered through the ordeal and finally managed to complete the task in the end and climbed on top of it.
*Whistle*
Linnet kept watching him from beginning to end in silence and her lips curled upwards once she saw the expression of amazement on the boy's face once he saw the beautiful scenery from her window.
"What a view! But why is there so many walls down there?" Bryan asked while leaning over the windowsill to get a better look down the mountain which this small community is built on top of it.
A shadow of sorrow tainted by guilt covered the girl's expression but she quickly hid it behind a fake smile while asking : "Amazing, isn't it?"
"It is." Bryan nodded but he was still feeling confused by the yers of high and thick-looking walls circling the mountain.
Linnet opened her mouth to say : "Zombies." Once she noticed the confusion on the boy's expression and couldn't help but enjoy seeing shock and disbelief overcome it all.
Bryan's eyes widened and his mouth hanged open, his neck almost felt like it'd take forever for it to twist so he can look at her.
The girl seriously looked him in the eye before raising her right forefinger to touch his forehead.
In the beginning Bryan thought Linnet was having a ugh at his expense but once the tip of her finger shone brightly in warm yellow light he was immediately reminded of what happened yesterday and the amazing feats she was able to achieve with ease!
Bryan felt his soul leaving his body after her touch and what followed was a searing pain but he wasn't even able to cry or move while being in this state.
"I wish we had a chance to talk more but there's no time," Linnet wasn't looking towards his body while talking but her eyes were fixed upwards towards his soul, "Without my ring this settlement is done for and most of us don't stand a chance of surviving the next wave.
"I knew that you're not Brayden from the first moment you spoke but you reminded me of someone I met long ago, consider this my gift to you before you go back.
"Now that you've Cleansed your Physique and Ignited your Vitality there's a higher chance of your survival during the outbreak...
Bryan's vision kept expanding more and more as his soul slowly floated upwards while Linnet's voice grew fainter and fainter.
While suffering this immense pain in complete helplessness he watched as a dark mass of what seems like people but these people had this feral and animalistic way of moving.
Like a wave they crashed against the first yer of walls and kept stacking on top of one another to gain height while completely ignoring the fire which ignited their bodies once the soldiers manning the walls torched them after pouring barrel after barrel of oil at them.
Sharp weapons seemed useless in that battle which is why trebuchets worked nonstop to send massive stones flying at that wave from behind the walls.
The first yer of walls quickly fell and the defender retreated to the second line of defense, fearless warriors joined the ranks this time and worked together to dismember and mutite these Zombies while protecting their allies with their Shields.
But from within the Zombie ranks appeared a different type which had this bronze-colored skin and the fearless warriors struggled to cause much damage to these Zombies who had no trouble receiving any strike on their bronze skin while using their own sharp nails and teeth to harm the defenders.
Right when it seemed like their arrival would cause havoc and chaos in the battlefield, Bryan saw Linnet join the battlefield with a familiar-looking middle-aged man and another woman.
The girl waved her hands from both extremities to cp and her action sent the Zombies flying while getting squashed like bugs and their bodily fluids spraying downwards on other Zombies which corroded their bodies and left them howling and twisting from pain.
Linnet looked up and her sad eyes met his before quickly shifting to a determined and much colder look.
Darkness consumed Bryan once the pain disappeared and he screamed : "AAAhhh!" While opening his eyes.
His breathing was rabid and his body was covered in sweat but once he looked around him he was no longer in Linnet's room in that fancy pace but back in his own room which he spent many nights suffering from sleep-depravation because of his "Hardworking" neighbor.
*Huff*
"I'm... I'm back!" He muttered while getting up from the bed and slowly touching everything around him as if being careful in doing so wouldn't shatter this reality.
"Huh!" Bryan noticed a gold ring on his hand.
*Gasp*
He gawked from surprise once he brought his hand closer to his eyes and witnessed the familiar design.
"This..."
