Collect the World - Book 2 Chapter 75

  Chapter 75

The leader of this portion of the Elemental army was Radav Igneo, Torg’s oldest son, and someone at level 1,000. He was also the ambassador who forged an alliance between the Innate Nation and the Elementals many months ago.

  Radav scrutinized the Innate’s fleet.

The flying contraptions sparked his interest. How had the Innates created them? Could they be mass-produced?

Moments later, Radav looked at Ska’dur, wariness surfacing in his gaze.

He had heard of the duel between Ska’dur and Torg.

It was unbelievable to him, that in a short half year, Ska’dur had grown to such an extent that Radav felt pressured by the man’s presence. Didn’t the report say the Innate Nation had been in the Grandsky Realm for less than two years? Were the Innates lying, or was this man called Ska’dur that much of a freak?

With thoughts like these, Radav called over a few of his strongest subordinates before flying up to meet Ska’dur and Markus. He came to a halt a respectable distance away and gave a salute, “Thank you for your assistance. While the demons here may have scattered, Wrath, Greed, and Gluttony are besieging our capital. We can’t let them enter the Elemental Dimension.”

Ska’dur glanced at Markus, who said, “My people can help, but let me make something clear: fighting Wrath, Greed, or Gluttony is beyond our means.”

Radav nodded understandingly, “Of course. Soldiers against soldiers, and generals against generals. Focus on the demon army and leave Wrath, Greed, and Gluttony to our side.”

  “Very well,” Markus affirmed.

With that said, the tension between the two sides eased, and they began discussing how to proceed.

An hour later, Radav’s troops recovered some of their stamina and set off for the Elemental’s capital, creating a grand sight. Over a million soldiers rode their flying mounts in formation, with the Innate’s Silverswift Skyship fleet covering their flank.

After several hours of travel, the Elemental’s magnificent Fourgleam barrier appeared on the horizon. It was currently surrounded by a several million-strong demon army, who launched endless spells at the construct to wear it down. They had been attacking for almost a day, yet the Fourgleam barrier remained largely intact.

From within, the Elemental army released long-ranged skills at the demon army.

Whenever their attacks passed through the Fourgleam barrier, they were enhanced by the arrays making up its structure, inflicting casualties among the demons.

Countless demon corpses littered the battlefield.

Hovering in the sky were Wrath, Greed, and Gluttony.

From time to time, Wrath gave in to his anger and attacked the Fourgleam barrier with his physical body, then retreated when his rage cooled.

Just then, Gluttony sensed a commotion in the rear.

He turned to find another Elemental army swiftly coming into view, followed by flying ships. Expression grim, he spoke to his companions, “Bad news. Looks like the fodder we sent to attack the Blockade lost.”

“A bunch of weaklings,” Wrath snarled.

Greed and Gluttony glanced at each other before Greed said, “Wrath, we should retreat. There’s no chance of breaking through the Fourgleam barrier now.”

  “NO!” Wrath bellowed.

Struggling to remain calm, he growled, “We’re so close! I can feel it!”

Greed tried to reason with Wrath. “You said it yourself. Besides us three, everyone under us is useless. As strong as you are, you can’t stop an army. You’ll eventually run out of stamina and die.”

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

Wrath turned to Greed with bloodshot eyes.

Although Greed knew the System prevented Wrath from attacking other sins, Greed shuddered under Wrath’s gaze, apprehensive.

Right as Wrath was about to agree to leave, Torg’s voice echoed out from within the Fourgleam barrier, “Haha, are you afraid Wrath? Thinking of running away? I didn’t expect you to be a coward!”

“TORG!” Wrath bellowed, his anger distorting the air around him.

“Slimeballs,” Greed cursed, knowing that Wrath had just lost his mind.

To make matters worse, Torg emerged from the Fourgleam barrier and curled his finger at Wrath.

  “GAH!” Wrath went berserk.

He charged at Torg, only for Torg to retreat behind the Fourgleam barrier’s protection.

Wrath repeatedly punched the barrier, causing it to shudder. Each of his attacks was enough to annihilate a level 900-plus monster. Even so, the barrier proved its worth as it blocked each of his blows with ease. The sight further enraged Wrath.

“Is that the best you can do?” Torg laughed exaggeratedly.

As Wrath tried to break through, Torg approached the barrier until he was on the verge of passing through. Seeing Torg so close yet so far away, Wrath’s eyes turned completely bloodshot.

Greed shouted at Wrath, aggrieved, “You fool! He’s clearly taunting you!”

By now, it was too late for the demon army to make a clean retreat.

The arriving Elemental forces landed not far from the demon army’s flank and got into formation. As both sides prepared to engage, nobody paid attention to the Skyship fleet as they readied their artillery, except for Radav.

Watching closely, he sensed a vast surge of mana erupt from within each Silverswift Skyship. Radav was aghast. How was that possible? Unable to wrap his mind around it, he observed as arrays lit up all over the Skyships.

Before he could blink, the artillery fired.

  BOOM!

Hundreds of sonic booms rang out.

Radav could just barely catch sight of the payload traveling through the air.

Snapping his head to the side, he saw it land amongst the demon army, wiping out the lives of thousands upon contact. Pupils shrinking, Radav sucked in a breath.

The barrage of artillery signaled the start of the battle.

As the demon and Elemental forces clashed head-on, the artillery never stopped.

Greed and Gluttony quickly noticed the firepower the Silverswift Skyships possessed.

Signaling to their officers, they sent down commands.

Soon, a group of demons detached from the main army and flew up to meet the Skyships. Numbering in the hundreds of thousands, they swarmed the Skyships like a horde of bees finding the most fragrant of flowers.

Although the Skyships were fearsome, they were incredibly delicate. A single damaged array could shut the whole thing down. Knowing this, the Innate army disembarked from the Skyships and flew out to meet the demons in a frontal clash.

Markus and Ska’dur found opponents of similar caliber.

Frod, Major General Alyssia, and others fought as well.

From afar, Greed and Gluttony’s expressions soured.

They watched as an endless stream of soldiers flew out from the Skyships.

Gluttony’s voice rumbled, “How can those ships hold so many troops?”

  “Pocket Dimensions!” Greed answered.

  His guess was spot on.

Inside the holding bay of each Skyship were several portals leading to Pocket Dimensions, within which stood the Innate’s army.

“Damn it!” Gluttony spat. “We’re vastly outnumbered, and Wrath has lost his mind.”

Thinking briefly, Greed turned to Wrath and shouted, “Wrath, look at those ships! They’re wiping out our people!”

Fortunately, Wrath heard Greed and looked aside, where he found the demons losing everywhere he looked. Seeing so many lifeless bodies on the ground renewed his dwindling rage. Ignoring Torg, he directed his attention toward the Skyships.

Locking onto a Skyship, he channeled all his emotions into a punch, empowering it beyond belief. The force contained within was incredibly concentrated. It didn’t disperse at all as it traveled through the air, leaving black cracks in its wake.

The attack disintegrated any demons or Innate soldiers in the way like they were made out of paper. In seconds, an invisible force struck a Skyship, cleaving it in two. Arrays fizzled with sparks as they broke down, engulfing the Skyship in flames.

Just as Wrath was about to release another punch, flaming chains wrapped around his limbs, locking him in place.

“TORG!” Wrath roared, veins bulging across his body as he ripped apart the chains binding him.

Now that the battle between the different armies was underway, Torg emerged from the Fourgleam barrier, having already activated Inferno Blaze Embodiment. Compared to when he invaded the Sin Dimension, the shade of liquid fire that made up his body took on a deeper color, appearing like magma from some hellscape.

Torg said nothing as he pointed forward, sending a colossal meteor the size of a mansion hurtling toward Wrath.

  BANG!

Wrath burst through the meteor unphased.

He appeared before Torg in one step and punched through the latter’s chest.

Months ago, Torg would have taken some damage from that attack, yet having fought Wrath numerous times, he found new usages of his Inferno Blaze Embodiment form.

For example, if Torg dispersed his body before Wrath’s punch landed, he’d take not a single point of damage. Getting used to an intangible body took time, but once he mastered it, Wrath was little more than a child fighting against an adult.

Unfortunately, Rammy, having doped herself for too long, made a critical mistake on the battlefield and perished, thus forcing the Elementals to retreat.

Greed and Gluttony knew Wrath was no longer a match for Torg, so they flew forward ready to reinforce him when Isabel and Flynn emerged from the Fourgleam barrier.

The two sides clashed repeatedly until Greed and Gluttony signaled to each other with their eyes. Unlike Wrath, they were concerned for their lives and knew victory was not on their side. Having decided on the best course of action, Greed’s voice echoed throughout the battlefield, “Retreat!”
