Trying to catch a break

At the Intelligence bureau, the day swiftly became hectic as the workers finally cracked the last saved data of the Liberties. Difficult at first, but as soon as things were piecing together, information soon started to form. After countless nights…it seems like things have finally appeared.

“Contact the Apostle at once. Get the army ready at once for a killing mission. We have a traitor in our midst." Someone said as he then made a direct report that would be given to Arthur immediately. Usually, to give a report directly to Arthur would take weeks due to needing to go through the Avalonian government first. However, if things need immediate judgment, they are allowed to bypass and send it to Arthur directly. Showing how serious it was, things got very tense quickly.

  In the Lancelot training house.

“ha…ha…ha…” Leonora was panting as she was trying her best to run. Karma on the other hand, was ahead of everyone. Followed by Leonardo, Noah, Angela, and Julius, respectively. Then there was Leonora with Faust. Truthfully, Faust didn’t care about running as he was already tired from training with the old man. Despite his age, he still has a lot of cardio in him.

“Don’t worry, it's almost done. After this, you may be able to get breakfast if everyone doesn’t eat it.” Faust's joke that got Leonora to grumble.

“Haaa..why am I put into this form of training?” Leonora was getting tired as she now understood why people hated it. It was relentless. “Why can I be like normal people and choose not to exercise?”

“Because if you don’t. You’ll be a living ticking time bomb that is about to blow at any time of day.” Faust summarizes in a really harsh manner.

“Well as you see, it hasn’t happened.” As she was catching her breath, she spread her hands like trying to make something happen. Knowing that nothing was going to happen, she looked at Faust, thinking this was a waste of time. But then Faust was whispering so others don’t know.

“It's because the last time it happened….I gave you CPR.” Hearing that, Leonora recalled that time in the hospital. Blushing re,d she seem to rather enjoy thinking about that time. Acting like a child, it seem like that was the first time someone has ever made physical contact with her.

“So that means!!! If I ever decide to tick tick you will pick pick.” Leonora said as she got close, chirping like a bird. But Faust then pointed at the necklace.

“Unfortunately for you. This will keep you in bay for now. It will temporarily keep your body in check.” Hearing that she was disappointed. It seems like she was really trying to experience it again as she was thinking about removing the necklace.

“To think I thought you were giving me a gift. Turns out it was a way to keep me in check.” Now she was pouting as she wasn’t happy like karma with her gift. Remembering that was the same reaction karma gave, Faust realized that some gifts are better without their reasons. Faust stops her from removing her necklace as he gestures to her to run more, which makes her more unhappy.

“Look, right now your body is weak. But it's getting stronger. This necklace is one of its kind. There is no place to get this. If we don’t strengthen the body now. I’m afraid that you will live only 50 years.” Faust reminded. The body isn’t able to control the energy so the necklace was acting as a regulator. However, if Leonora is out under extreme duress, necklace or no necklace she will cause massive harm to everyone if her power is let loose. She needs to grow with her powers so that in the future she will be able to control it by herself and not destroy the world. Well, hopefully it works out as they are really betting on that.

“But….cant you just do that when I’m going to you know….” Thinking about the kiss, Faust was wondering if Leonora was really as innocent as they portrayed her to be.

“Unfortunately, there will be times I won’t be by your side. If you can’t be safe, then how will I be able to perform, you know…”

“Haa…..its so much work…” Leonora complained. But to cheer her up, Faust patted her in the head.

“I know it’s a lot of work. But look on the bright side. You get to do things like normal people. You get to live a long life. There are far more things you get to look forward to as well.”

“Mmm…you're right? If things work out, I can get a long honeymoon.”

“That’s right, you can…wait..what?” Leonora then ran faster, happily thinking about her future. But Faust just stood there wondering…

“What does she see in you, I wonder?” Faust said to Fausto, as he just doesn’t get it at all. Even Fausto finds Leonora to be rather difficult to understand.

  An hour later.

“Hey Karma how have you been?” Gilius called as he was doing a video chat with her. After exercising and some breakfast, everyone was taking a break before training once again. This gives time for Karma to finally talk with Gilius.

“Good but it has been a while. I thought it was weird that you haven’t been contacting me. What's going on in military life? Stressful?” Karma said as she was gearing up. Grabbing some equipment, she looked like she was getting ready for combat. Using the video chat, they were chatting as though they were talking in person. Though it might be awkward for most, Karma and Gilius seem to be okay with this as they seemed to see each other as friends more than anything.

“Hmph you wish. Just been doing a secretive mission. I recently got time to check on you. What are you doing? By the looks of it…. you're going to a paintball tournament?”

“Hardly…right now I’m part of this project with the order…”

  “The order!!!” Gilius yelled.

“Hey!! Why did you yell like that?” Karma said as she was surprised about that. As Gilius was trying to calm down as he took a deep breath.

“Sorry I didn’t mean to do that. I was just surprised.” Gilius said as he still looked rather panicked. “Why are you working with them? Didn't you say you wanted to be a surgeon?”

“I did, but unfortunately….because of a rare case, we are to help with a project that is rather top secret. That is why I never told you.” Karma explained. Gilius was then thinking as he was rather tense about something. “Is something wrong? Is your job stressful?”

“No..no.” Gilius said as he pretended to remain calm. “I just thought of something that needs priority. I will call you later, bye!!” Gilius then quickly hung up the phone with Karma, wondering.

“Is the military that bad? Told him to work as a programmer. But noooo, he said he wanted to join the military.” Karma said in disappointment.

Back at his room, Faust, who was already exhausted as he wanted to take a break. But he can't because he doesn't have the ability to sleep or even rest. He just has to deal with the pain.

Ring ring. He then heard a familiar ringtone he hadn’t heard in a while. It was rather unexpected.

“Hello…” Resting up a bit, he then sat in a chair as he prepared for what was to come. Lying back at the couch, he then set a jammer while changing his voice a bit as he blocked his ears.

“Hello my ass!! What the hell are you doing?!!!” Gilius screamed. Faust didn’t find that surprising at all as he was expecting such a call. Actually, he was surprised he didn’t get the call the first day. He must have really been busy.

“I’m doing my job….what do you think I’m doing?”

“Then why is she with the Order!! I told you to keep her away from them!!” Gilius fumed as he continued to vent his frustration, but Faust brushed it off.

“Really? You said to protect her. Last time I checked…she is okay?” Faust responded. Gilius then thought about it. He was right. Karma was safe. Even if she was part of the order as long as she wasn’t harmed, he was still doing his job. Damn, he thought to himself, he should have specified.

“Fine but what happens if she is attacked. How would you deal with it then?”

“Find out when that happens. But don’t worry, unlike you, I’m training her to get stronger.”

  “You can’t if..”

“If she were found out. It's better if she can escape than not. Right?” Gilius then realized his failure as he forgot about that. But then again, there was something that was off.

“Wait, do you have any idea about how…” After talking, he realized that Menace was aware of who Karma was. He didn’t want to directly say it, but from those words, he already knew that Menace knows Karma's identity as a Shadow dweller. Faust though, stopped him as there was a more pressing matter.

“I have my ways. But you should prepare for yourself.” Looking at a text, Faust seemed to hear the information before anyone else.

  “Myself…what do you mean?”

“hmmm…seems like a lot of helicopters and aircraft have left and headed in your direction. I wonder…did they finally find something about you??” Hearing that, Gilius immediately hung up the phone.

“Hmm..is the military that stressful…he should do a more relaxing job,” Faust said.

“Hey Fausto, you ready?” Karma said as Faust was still tired.

“Maybe I should do the same. Haaaaaa…” Faust, getting his butt up, he drags himself to his next training session.
