The story follows a girl named Autumn Brisa. She lives in a corrupted kingdom called Alondra, though it isn’t until she is invited to join the royal guard that she begins to realize Alondra’s deeper, more gruesome flaws. She leaves her hometown to go live in the castle during her training, and befriends the young prince, Rey. Autumn and Rey work together to uncover the Queen’s dirty secrets and destroy the kingdom’s century-old practices of racism and homophobia. But as they dig deeper into the past, Autumn learns unsettling things about the history of her and Rey’s families, and she discovers a connection that could possibly destroy everything she had worked for.
