Chapter 32. Rafael Perez.

The lunch delivery was sent to the Gym and they managed to find plates, glasses and silverware in a small kitchen in a side room. There were also several tables and chairs they could use.

Having everything they needed, they decided to keep eating their lunch at the Gym everyday.

They had a pleasant lunch where Emilio talked about his life before the System with Gabriela and Alberto while the girls talked by themselves about several subjects, rapidly becoming friends.

When they were finishing with their lunch break, Emilio’s phone rang. For once, he was actually able to pick it up by himself. Sadly it was not Milagros, which meant that, as far as she knew, he still had Amelia pick his phone for him.

  “Hello?” Emilio greeted.

“Hello, is this Emilio?” A man’s voice talked on the other side. It had some kind of accent showing it was not from Argentina.

  “Yes, who is it?”

“My name is Rafael, I was hired to teach you.”

“Nice to meet you Rafael. I was told you were coming today, did you have a good trip?”

“Yes. Surprisingly, there was no problem at all. I wanted to know where I should meet with you. I rang the bell in your house, but it seems that you are not there.”

“Ohh, we are at the gym training, I can go there to pick you up. I was told you were arriving today, were you able to go to the Trial?”

“I did it first thing in the morning to be able to train you as soon as possible. Should I wait here?”

“Yes, I will be there in a few minutes.”

After hanging up the phone Emilio gave the news to the rest of the table.

“I will be going to pick Rafael up, he went to my house.”

“Is he ready to train you?” Gabriela asked.

“Yes, we should be back in a little while.”

“Then I will change the schedule for the afternoon. You have to learn how to use your daggers and Amelia her gun. I will take her to the shooting range to teach her, both with real and System guns.”

  “Yes!” Amelia cheered happily.

“Good to know you are excited,” Gabriela smiled at the girl and turned towards her family. “What are you going to do?”

“I will stay. I already know how to shoot. I will train here and maybe I can watch how the new teacher trains Emilio. Is it ok?” Alberto asked.

“Sure, stay as long as you want. The Gym is huge,” Emilio agreed.

“I want to go with you,” Victoria decided.

“You? You want to go to the shooting range?” Gabriela asked. Gabriela went to the shooting range every week and had tried to take her daughter with her a lot of times, without any success at all.

“Yes, I have to learn now that I also have a gun, don't I?” Victoria answered.

Gabriela didn't trust her daughter’s answer so she decided to press for more.

“Didn’t you say it was boring when you came back from the Trial? That you picked a gun just because you can use it without training?”

“Well, I might have changed my mind,” Victoria answered, turning as red as a tomato.

“Did you now?” Amelia asked, doubting the girl. Especially after seeing her face.

“Ok, I’ll admit it! It will be much more fun to go with you than to stay here by myself!” Victoria shouted at Amelia and covered her face when she realized just how red her face was. The result was her receiving a bunch of laughs from everyone in the gym.

“What do you mean by yourself? Am I air to you?” Her father asked, acting hurt, but Victoria refused to answer anymore.

Emilio ended up walking back to his house by himself. Once he was near he found a man in his late twenties waiting by his door. He was around 1.7 meters tall and surprisingly thin, especially considering he still seemed fit. He had a suitcase in his hand and was whistling while he waited.

When he saw Emilio coming he approached him.

“I guess you are Emilio, judging by the daggers in your belt. You do know it is illegal to carry them like that, don’t you?” Rafael asked, startling Emilio. He hadn’t realized he was using his belt with Void. He actually started wearing it just because he didn’t want to leave it behind and really didn’t realize he was actually committing a felony by carrying the weapons.

“I really didn’t make a good first impression here, right?” Emilio sighed. “I think I should enter and find a bag to put them in.”

“Haha, not the worst either,” Rafael laughed, “admitting your mistake makes your response much better than most.”

“Either way, it is nice to meet you. Do you want to enter for the introductions?” Emilio asked.

“Sure. I was told you might be with your niece and another teacher,” Rafael commented while entering.

“They were at the gym with me when you called. We decided to invite her family to train too. It is better to be sure that everyone is in our best shape. That means that her husband and daughter were with us too. You are welcome to invite your family too,” Emilio said while offering Rafael a chair to sit at the table.

“That’s very generous of you. My training was unconventional at best and I wouldn’t want to train my husband in the way I was trained,” Rafael hinted and evaluated Emilio’s response.

“He is welcome to join us. I assumed your origins might be unconventional. Using daggers is not something normal, is it? Can you tell me how you came to learn this skill?”

Rafael sighed in relief when he saw Emilio’s reaction, but he also tensed up at his question.

“Let’s just say I had some unwilling training during my childhood that left me with these skills. I try to forget what happened, but I really like using my daggers. Also, I would like to thank you for accepting my husband. Many people in Mexico reject us.”

“I’m so sorry that you had to experience that and I hope you have a better experience with us. Not everyone in Argentina is inclusive, but at least between the people I like to have around, it should not be a problem.

“With Gabriela we’ve decided to have lunch and dinner together too because we are eating much more now that we have increased Stats. You are welcome to invite him too if you want to join us. As for your background, I don’t really care. I asked just out of curiosity. If it hurts talking about it just don’t do it.”

Rafael smiled at Emilio’s response and was really thankful for who his new patron was.

“I will call him to decide. Go get something to put your dagger in so we can go to train you. Can you tell me the Gym address? It will be better if I just tell him to head there.”

Emilio gave him the address and went to get a backpack to put the daggers. When he came back he found Rafael ready to go.

“He will meet us at the Gym. The hotel is just a few blocks away,” Rafael explained “It is amazing what KimTec is doing for you. Who are you? The son of the owner or something?”

“Well, given that you are going to be my teacher and know sooner or later, I might as well tell you. Can you keep confidential information?” Emilio asked.

“Out with it,” Rafael said “I don’t believe I would even be here if I couldn’t.”

“That might be true. Well, I am the source of the information KimTec is giving and selling to the world,” Emilio explained, leaving Rafael paralyzed as he went through the door. “Are you coming? you still have to train me.”

“Wait, what did you say? Are you an alien? How did you get it?” He asked.

“Not an alien, but I talked with one. And you did too, for that matter. The Shopkeeper is from another planet, now let’s go.” Emilio took his keys to close his house.

Rafael obeyed and followed his new student while he was falling to the realization that he was now working for one of the most valuable persons in the world. Not only that, but he also had really confidential information. Not that he was going to do anything with it. Especially when Emilio seemed like a nice person who really wanted to learn from him.

They met with Darío who was waiting outside the Gym. He was a man who was also in his late twenties and around the same height as Rafael, but Darío was not as fit as his husband. He had a slight belly and seemed to be quite relaxed as he was standing by the door of the gym, waiting for them to arrive.

When he saw his husband, his face brightened and ran to welcome him with a kiss.

“How much time has it been since you last saw each other?” Emilio asked.

  “A few hours,” Rafael explained.

“A few hours is enough for me to miss you, hubby,” Darío added.

“I know, my love. Emilio, meet my husband Darío, Darío meet my new patron Emilio. He is a really important person related to System stuff,” Rafael did the introductions.

“Nice to meet you. It is not necessary for you to keep that level of confidentiality with your husband. I think I can talk freely with him too,” Emilio commented.

“Thank you, but what we can say is quite limited either way. He was not able to get any Stat for the Trial and we are limited by the System,” Rafael explained.

“That Mind Trial was hard,” Darío sighed.

“I’m sorry for that. By the way Rafael, how did you do in the Trial?” Emilio asked.

“I got 2 Stats in Energy and used the two Free Points in Energy too. I also bought all the Stats details to have access to the information,” Rafael answered.

“Why did you pick Energy? I don’t think you asked for a gun, did you?”

“Of course not, I asked for double daggers following your example. But do you really think it is only useful for guns? It wouldn’t be a Stat if it was like that. I just have to learn how to control it and see how useful it is,” Rafael explained.

“That is not a bad idea, but none of us have any Energy yet. Will it be useful for you?” Emilio asked.

“Then I have something to do when you train with your other teacher,” Rafael pointed out. “Sooner or later it might be useful.”

“I agree with that idea, I do have to train with her too.”

“Let’s go in and meet my coworker then,” Rafael headed for the door of the gym.

“Ohh, about that. She will not be here. She went with the girls to the shooting range. I can’t believe how many people chose a gun after the warning.”

When Emilio said that Darío stood frozen in place.

“Yeah, I agree. Who would choose a gun after that warning? Don’t you think the same way, love?” He asked his husband, “especially with your husband being a specialist in short weapons who can teach you.”

“I am sorry for choosing the most common weapon in the world,” Darío retorted, offended by the comments. “It is not as if I would have been able to use a dagger effectively with my Stats.”

“Don’t say that, you can improve them,” Rafael stopped the jokes.

  “Like my Mind?”

“You might do better in the other Stats. And if you don’t I will protect you from whatever you need,”

“Now that’s my man,” Darío smiled.

“Guys, stop your quarreling and let’s enter.” Emilio showed the way inside.
