Chapter 2 : Tower of babel

"Ouch, my head hurts. What's going on?" Skye woke up and held his head. As he looked around the room, Skye saw a man and a woman standing there, staring. They were both wearing white suits and green capes.

When they noticed that Skye was awake, the man pointed at the door for the woman. After that, the woman walked out of the room, leaving only the man and Skye, wondering what the hell was going on. Suddenly, the man slowly walked up to Skye and handed him something that looked like headphones.

"Hm? What is it?" Skye asked curiously, but the man didn't answer anything and made a gesture as if to tell him to put it on.

"At least answer me, damn it," Skye grumbled to himself, putting the earphones on. When he put them on, it made him feel strange in an indescribable way, because it made him unable to hear anything, as if he was currently deaf.

"This is so cool, but it feels uncomfortable. How long do I have to wear this?" Skye thought to herself, before turning to face the man.

"So... how long do I have to wear this?" Skye asked indifferently, before realizing that even if the man answered, Skye still wouldn't be able to hear anything. After that, the man made a hand gesture as if for Skye to follow him. When Skye left the room and was walking, he found that there were many people in front of the lobby, some holding weapons, some wearing strange clothes, and some had horns.

"This is really another world!" Sky said to himself softly before walking out of the building with the man. When he exited the building, he found that the city looked like a medieval city. Some cities were built of wood, some of them were built of stone and brick, but the most eye-catching thing was the black tower standing tall in the center of the city.

As the man led the way, Skye looked around the city. There were horse-drawn carriages, stalls, fountains, shops with strange characters written on them, and strange-looking objects that he would never have seen if he had been in his original world. Many of the people around him wore strange, unfamiliar clothes, and a quick glance revealed that this world was far from ordinary. Some had horns or other unusual features, hinting that this place was home to species beyond just humans

After the two walked for a while, they arrived at the base of the tower. Looking closely, they found that it was a hexagonal tower, with some characters carved all over the surface of the tower.

"Look closely, it's a hexagon. At first, I thought it was a circle or a square." Skye thought like that and chuckled at what was in front of him. But then the man walking with Skye tapped Skye's shoulder before pointing at the stairs in front of him. It seemed to be a spiral staircase around the tower that kept climbing higher and higher until it didn't end anywhere.

"Hmm, stairs. But who would be crazy enough to walk up a tower that you can't even see the top of... Wait, don't tell me I have to walk up there?" Skye gasped before turning to look at the man beside him. The man smiled awkwardly at him before patting him on the shoulder a few times and nodding as if to say, "Yeah, that's what you think."

Skye and the man walked slowly, step by step. Their legs were shaking, their bodies were getting heavier and heavier. Their breathing was getting harder and harder, and sweat was pouring down their shoulders. Even though it was noon and they had climbed so high, they didn't feel hot or cold, not even hungry or thirsty.

"It's really strange, but it's a good thing, otherwise I'd die miserably walking up the stairs," Skye thought to himself.

Finally, they reached the end of the stairs. Although this wasn't the top of the tower, there seemed to be a room in front of them that it's seem like an entrance to this tower. When Skye opened the door, the sight in front of him was a very strange sight. It was a completely white room. In the center of the room was a platform with a medium-sized cube floating up and down slowly. Around the room were symmetrical cubes, some big and small, floating back and forth. Some were in the form of waves, some just moving up and down. It seemed contradictory but balanced at the same time. But what was the same was that everything was completely white.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

When the man walking with her saw that Skye wouldn't move, he patted Skye's back before pointing at the platform in the center of the room. It was like he was trying to tell him,

"Don't hesitate. Just walk to that platform and it'll be over." Seeing that, Skye walked into the room and grabbed the cube in the center of the room.

Suddenly, Skye felt many things running through his head, but it happened so fast that it was like putting the knowledge of a physicist into the head of a third-grade child. In one second, his body couldn't take it anymore and he fainted.

"Oh my god, my head hurts so bad. This is the third time I've passed out because of something. There's no reason for it. Whenever I talk to anyone, they're all mute. This world is so fucked up." Skye complained to himself so loudly that he forgot there was someone waiting for her.

When the man noticed that Skye had woken up, he made a gesture like he wanted Skye to take off her headphones. When Skye took off her headphones, the man started talking.

"Hello hello test test." When the man noticed that Skye didn't have a headache, he continued,

"Okay, I know you're confused. That's understandable. We all did when we first got here. Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Stevphen. Stevphen manlo. What about you?" When Skye saw the man introduce himself, he started to introduce herself as well.

"Um, M..My name is Skye. Skye Rozenskye. N...Nice to meet you," Skye greeted hesitantly.

"Okay, so are you okay to walk, Skye? It's almost dark now. If you were to walk down these stairs in the dark, it would be dangerous, haha." Stevphen laughed a little before starting to walk down the stairs.

"Speaking of which, Mr. Stevphen, I have a question for you," Skye asked Stevphen as they walked down the stairs.

"Go ahead, Skye. But, you can call me Steve. And you don't have to add Mr. " Stevphen said to Skye.

"Sure, Mr- no, Steve. Why didn't you talk to me at first?" Skye asked curiously.

"Oh, I think you've noticed. Remember when the soldiers surrounded you? To you, they must have been speaking a strange language, right? It was actually the language of this world, but you weren't fully connected to it yet. When you heard the language of this world, your body would react violently," Stevphen replied to Skye as if it was normal.

"Then why did they point their spears at me?" Skye asked curiously.

"Oh, I'm sorry. There have been a lot of serious incidents recently, so the city has been quite chaotic. Normally, we would be very good at accommodating new arrivals to this world," Stevphen replied to Skye, adding,

"You must be unlucky, to show up at a time like this, hahaha."

"So... where can I sleep? I'm new here, so I don't have a place to stay," Skye asked with concern, mixed with words like asking to help find a place for him.

"No need for a room, Skye. You can sleep at our guild tonight. We'll talk about it tomorrow. You can sleep in the same room. Before, I told my friend to prepare a room for you. Here's the key."

When they got down to the ground, it was just dark. Even though both of them were tired, they still walked to go to their own room to sleep.

"Welcome back," the female employee in front of the lobby greeted both of them before turning to continue writing documents. But right now, Skye didn't care about anything. He asked to go to bed first. He would let his future self handle his own matters tomorrow.

When Skye opened the door and closed it, he rushed to the bed and jumped to put his face into the pillow to get a good night's sleep tonight.

"Wow, you're really a careless person. At least check around the room to see if anyone's hiding." A cold voice that he didn't know if it was a man or a woman's, but what he knew was that this voice made his hair stand on end and he trembled in fear.

When Skye turned around, he saw a person standing behind the door. A person with bandages wrapped around his body and blood stains all over his body and his cloak. The mysterious person Skye had met in the forest....
