Chapter 1 : A Split Second

Everything happened so fast. No... I don't even know what happened. As far as I remember, I was just buying something for my mom and when I was crossing the street, and then blink of an eye , I was standing in the middle of a strange forest. What the hell is going on? Skye, a 17-year-old boy, was trying to sort out his thoughts about the situation he was in. The only thing he could think of was...

"Or am I in another world!!! It must be like this. But normally, shouldn't one have to have an accident or die before being able to come to another world? And then one should meet a beautiful goddess and get a cool blessing?" Skye grumbled to himself and paced around. Then he thought of something.

"Oh yeah! There must be an information menu page. When Skye thought of that, he shouted

  "System!" Nothing happened.

  "Menu!" Nothing happened.

  "Open Menu!" Still nothing happened.

Ten minutes later, Skye was sitting under a tree, panting lightly.

"Ouch, I shouldn't have shouted so much, my throat is sore." Suddenly, Skye felt a pair of eyes staring at him. Skye turned his head quickly and caught sight of a shadowy figure standing about ten meters away, cloaked in brown fabric. His heart raced, and his breath hitched. Red stains, almost like blood, splattered the cloak, making it seem even more menacing. Skye's legs froze for a moment before instinct kicked in. He spun around and bolted.

"What the hell is that!" Skye exclaimed and started to run away. But in the blink of an eye, as he was about to take a step forward, the person lunged at him and Skye felt the cold, sharp blade pierce his flesh, the searing pain shooting through him, as if his very insides were being torn apart his vision blurring as his muscles screamed in agony.

"It hurts... I'm sorry... Please Don't kill me." Skye's hair was disheveled and he tried to crawl away with difficulty. Before the mysterious person kicked Skye up and pressed him down.

"No..No... Don't kill me. Don't kill me. I don't want to die yet." Skye closed his eyes and tried to shake them off with his hands to prevent himself from meeting a miserable end here. But deep down, he knew that his end had come. But no matter how long he held his breath and waited for the knife to end his life, it never came. So Skye decided to open his eyes and look. It made him see the mysterious person's face full of shock. The hand holding the knife was shaking. His breathing was getting difficult. Tears started to flow out. But now Skye didn't think about anything anymore. Because he was going to die from the stab wound. And then Skye fainted...

*The sound of a burning bonfire* Ah, it's such a warm sound. It's perfect for sleeping in the middle of the forest. Skye thought to himself before he started to think,

"Wait a minute... I was stabbed in the stomach just now. Why am I not dead yet?" When he thought of that, Skye quickly lowered his head to his stomach. But what shocked him was not the stab wound, but the stomach that didn't even have a scratch. Although it made him relieved, it was also surprising at the same time. When Skye turned to look at the bonfire, he saw that the mysterious person was sitting next to the bonfire and was adding fuel to the fire. When Skye saw that, he thought to himself,

"No matter how much I run, I'll definitely get caught. I should have worked out more." Skye took a deep breath to gather his courage.

"Sir, it's... we don't have any conflicts, so please let me go." The mysterious person looked up at Skye before pointing at him and pointing down next to the bonfire. It was like a sign telling him to come and sit here. Skye didn't dare to disobey his orders, so he walked over and sat down hesitantly. When he looked closer, the mysterious person had bandages wrapped around his body. Some of them were covered in blood and some were covered in dirt. It looked quite old and dirty. Even his cloak had a lot of blood and mud stains on it.

"Sir, Who are you?" Even though Skye was scared, the atmosphere right now was extremely awkward. It could be considered as building a friendship. The mysterious person turned to face him but didn't say anything. Before putting a finger up to his mouth, it was like trying to tell Skye to be quiet. Skye nodded slightly in fear. The two sat still without saying anything. Skye nodded because he had nothing to do. The mysterious person sat still with his left hand holding his stomach. Skye didn't know how much time had passed, but about every 30 minutes, there would be the sound of animals or something growling around the forest. It was clear that traveling in the forest alone at night was definitely not a good idea.

When the first light of day came, a mysterious person walked over and used his foot to nudge Skye to wake her up. After that, he waved his hand, as if trying to tell Skye to follow him. They walked on and all they saw and felt were nature, wild animals, and Skye's panting and complaining about her sore legs. But there were 2-3 times when it seemed like they saw some kind of animal. It might have been a forest monster. But before Skye could notice or see it, the mysterious person killed them first and didn't let Skye see the body to see what it was or what it looked like.

"I know it's dangerous, but at least I want to see its face. What kind of person is so stingy about something unimportant? I came to live in another world, why did I have to encounter something like this?" Skye complained to himself. But then when he looked up at the sky, he noticed a tall black pole or pillar, and it was in the same direction that the mysterious person was going to take Skye.

"What is that?" Skye asked the mysterious person with curiosity, but what he got in return was the same answer.

"......" Silence. The mysterious person just turned to look at Skye before turning back. The further they walked, the black tower seemed to grow larger. As they exited the forest, the mysterious figure stopped and pointed forward, as if telling Skye to keep walking.

"Sure," Skye walked ahead of the mysterious person without thinking. Then he left the forest area. What was in front of him was a city that looked like a very large city. The place he was standing on must be the suburbs. Before Skye walked on, he turned back to say thank you.

"Thank y- Oh, where did he go?" The mysterious person had disappeared. Skye didn't think anything of it. It was probably lucky that he didn't have to be with that scary-looking person anymore. Before Skye reached the city, an unexpected event occurred. He was surrounded by soldiers who pointed their spears at Skye. In a split second, the soldiers started speaking.

"?ekk?rn?s ūlα'??n ?hααr?s! Q?rv?x ?yll'nα ?r?th?? v?k'thαl?s." The soldiers' words were unintelligible, their language foreign and twisted in his mind. An agonizing headache hit him, blurring his thoughts until everything around him spun.

The world around him faded into blackness, the pain fading into nothingness before he finally lost consciousness.
