  Life demands

  A busy season

  Life understands

  Life uses reason

  But reason’s fleeing

  with the day

  the time has come

  all thoughts away

  I pray my bones

  my soul to keep

  As we lay down

  And go to sleep.

  But day is ended

  It’s life’s done

  Time to rest

  Dearh has begun

  Mind is leaving

  Words are failing

  And intentions?

  They are bailing

  Spells, ambitions

  All will keep

  Now this dead bard

  Shall go to sleep.
