Chapter Twenty-Four
"It's troubling Mother." Half of the crowd outside the courtyard gate bowed in gratitude.
"The young lady is being polite." The servant returned the politeness.
Ban Jin hastily turned around and ran into the room.
"Daughter, daughter, I've asked already, Eldest Brother is drunk and has gone to take a nap." She said happily.
Jiang Nang doesn't need a nap because she has already slept a lot during the day.
At this moment she is looking at a book on the desk.
Taking advantage of the commotion between the Cheng and Zhou families, she asked Pan Qian to get her a book while they sat down to eat.
Because they didn't know what to look at specifically, the young servants reported back to the master after being asked by the servant woman and brought over a thickest book from the master's study.
It's enough to have fun for a while.
Foolish people read books for fun, they won't actually use them to learn anything haha.
The Grand Prosperity Record, Jingniang's fingers stroked the cover, silently reciting the title of the book. What Banzhi was saying she didn't care about, her heart was very happy, but she couldn't show it.
"Daughter, wait until young master wakes up and he will come to see you." Ban Jin sat down on her knees in front of her, with her hands resting on the armrests, blocking the book, and said.
Jiang Yao nodded slightly in response.
"Good." she said.
"Daughter." Half a moment later, she sat back and straightened up, her expression agitated and uneasy. "You saw Master Biao, what did you want to say to him?"
Jiang Yao nodded and remained silent for a while.
"There's a lot you want to say but can't, isn't there? Don't worry." Ban Jin smiled and said, "Speak slowly, Master will definitely listen patiently to what you have to say."
Jiang Nang said oh again, actually, there's nothing to say, and she wasn't familiar with him either.
She lowered her head wanting to read this book.
"There's Master Gongzi here, and from now on they won't dare to bully the young mistress again." Ban Qin said with a hint of excitement and relief. "If we had known earlier, it would have been better for us to go to Old Madam's house first before coming back."
Jiang Nang raised her head.
"You mentioned someone named Han Yuanchao," she said suddenly.
The half-witted celery was beaten and stunned for a moment.
Korean currency?
Jiang Nang picked up a notebook from beside her that recorded daily events and flipped it open, pointing to one of the lines.
Jin Xing and Jiang were traveling together when they met a young man from the Han family who was being bullied on the road. They helped him out of kindness.
Suddenly remembered something.
"I don't remember what happened," said Cheng Jiaoniang.
Ban Jin told the story again, but this time she spoke more simply and quickly than before.
"Daughter, Liu Gongzi is even younger than this Han Gongzi." She added.
"Han Gongzi said that it's just a small effort, anyone can do it, and it doesn't count as any great kindness." Chang Jiuniang said, not looking up at Zhou Liulang.
Ban Jin looked at her and nodded.
"Yes, yes, the young lady remembered, didn't she? The young lady said that there are many things in this world that require only a little effort, but not everyone is willing to do them, so I should remember this and not forget Mr. Han's help." She said with a smile.
Jiang Yao looked at her.
"Yes, Ban Jin, it's not often that I meet someone like Lord Han." she said.
Perplexed and puzzled, what's all this about?
The girl's brain is slow, and she thought of somewhere else again. Or maybe it's because she remembered Zhou Liulang helping her out that she thought of that Korean dynasty.
It must be so, the girl's mind has turned around and can't turn back for a while.
"Yes, so it's good that you can come." She said with a smile, supporting herself on the armrest to get up, "Madam, I'll go take a look at the tea for our guest."
Ban Jin said and ran out quickly.
Jiangniang looked at her and came back, put on the clogs placed in the corridor, and then went into the kitchen again.
Jiang Yao pursed her lips, which was equivalent to a faint smile, and lowered her head to flip open the book.
It was past noon, and Ban Jin's tea had gone cold again. Zhou Liu Lang still hadn't arrived.
"Haven't woken up yet?" said Ban Qin, "Did you drink too much wine?"
No one answered her, and it wasn't until after everyone else had finished their lunch break that it was finally Chang Jiuniang's turn.
She lay on the couch and fell asleep. Not far away, by the window, a gentle breeze rustled through the pages of a book on the windowsill from time to time.
Half past two, she carefully turned over the book and gazed out of the window at the sun-dappled foliage for a moment before standing up.
"I'll go take a look at Sixth Master, you help me keep an eye on our daughter." She whispered to the new maid.
The girl's face was ordinary and she wouldn't stand out in a crowd, probably around 16 or 17 years old. Upon hearing the words, she looked stunned for a moment and seemed a bit frightened.
"Ah, ah, then, what should I do?" she asked in a trembling voice.
But never took care of fools...
What if the fool wakes up and cries? Will he hit people? Does he need to be fed water? What snacks does he eat? Can she change clothes by herself?
Ban Jin glared at Ya Tou with some annoyance.
"I'll go and come back, you wait under the eaves, don't need to go in. If I'm not here when the girl wakes up, she will lie still and won't move, you don't have to do anything." She said softly.
The girl let out a sigh of relief.
"Sister, come back quickly." She still reminded anxiously.
He walked away with big strides.
She asked several people before finding out where Zhou Liulang was resting, but when she rushed over, he wasn't there.
"Master Lang has gone to see Old Master Cheng," said the little servant outside the door.
It's also right to go see the bride's father first, thought Xiāng with a smile. She turned around and headed towards Second Master's place. She didn't return to the courtyard, but instead waited outside, thinking that when Lang Jun came out, she could take him to meet her daughter.
Pan Huai waited for a long time, but still didn't see Zhou Liu Lang come out. Ban Jin was getting anxious and hurriedly asked the little servant at the door of the second master's house, only to find out that he had gone to the first master's place with the second master from the very beginning.
Bai Qi angrily stamped her foot and turned around to run towards Lao Ye again.
She was annoyed on this side, and the little girl who stayed in the yard was also anxious.
"Mom, should I go in and take a look or not?" she asked nervously while pulling on the maid's sleeve.
The two of them had been kneeling outside the corridor for half a day, and what they heard from inside was eerily silent, quiet to the point of being somewhat frightening.
"That girl said no need, let's not go in." The servant woman also hesitated and said.
"Why hasn't he come back yet?" The girl looked out the door, "What's taking so long? Can't it wait till tomorrow to talk about it? Why does it have to be now?"
Ban Jin had just arrived at the gate of the old master's house when a young servant came out.
"What? Sixth Master is leaving?" Ban Jin was shocked. "He just arrived today, how can he leave already?"
Cheng Da Lao Ye and Cheng Er Lao Ye heard this and their faces did not relax.
"It's getting dark, how can you leave, young master?" said Mr. Cheng.
"No harm done, it's better to hurry on a dark night with few people around." Zhou Liu Lang said with a smile, carrying the air of a young man.
Old Master Cheng felt a few points of disdain in his heart.
"That worthy nephew of mine came and went in a hurry, just to return the conversation, what a bother." Mr. Cheng said, and didn't try to detain him any longer.
"Oh, apart from chatting and seeing if my cousin is safe, there's actually one more thing." Shūroku said, as if he had suddenly remembered something.
Here!
Cheng Da Lao Ye and Cheng Er Lao Ye's hearts skipped a beat, they had been beating around the bush for so long, now it seemed like they were finally going to get to the real purpose.
"Speak," said Mr. Cheng.
Zhou Lang sat up straight, with both hands on his knees.
"I want that girl," he said.
