Chapter 5 Departure

  Chapter Five Departure

  Why see a doctor?

"Ban Jin, didn't you say that these doctors have been studying since childhood in order to treat people?" Cheng Jiaoniang said, sitting up straight, although this simple action made her seem slower than usual. "Since I'm a foolish child, of course I wouldn't learn this."

Ban Jin looked at her with a bewildered expression as well.

Three months ago, on a stormy night, lightning struck half of the Taoist temple. Fortunately, she and her mother lived in the most dilapidated house of the temple, which was made of thatch and earth, allowing them to escape. However, a thunderbolt split open the big tree in front of their hut, and the fire from the lightning exploded right under their feet. Her mother let out her first scream in life, then fainted.

If I wake up again, it will be different, if not, then it's fine.

My eyes can move now, I don't drool anymore, and I can even talk!

"Niangzi, it seems that the Taoist priest was right after all. It's a great blessing for you to leave home and live in the temple." said Ban Qin with some excitement.

  Is that so?

Jiang Nang thought for a moment, but due to her stiff muscles, her face didn't show any expression.

"But even if I did get better because of that, it's not like I would suddenly be able to cure illnesses out of thin air!" she said slowly.

Yes, Han Qian furrowed her brow in thought, it's really strange.

"Ah." She suddenly clapped her hands together as she thought of something, "No wonder."

Jiang Yao turned her gaze towards her, and due to her slow reaction, she still looked a bit dull.

"Niangzi, since the immortal has healed you, it's no big deal if you can cure illnesses and bring people back from the dead." said Ban Qin, her eyes shining brightly.

What? Jingjiu was stunned for a moment, could it be that this was an immortal technique given by an immortal?

"Girl, isn't this strange? Do you know Yang Danyan from Jianzhou?" said Ban Qin. After finishing speaking, she patted her head again. The girl was a fool and naturally didn't know. She had only heard it when the old lady was still alive and came to visit their daughter-in-law to chat idly. Life in the temple was dull and uninteresting, so this small piece of worldly gossip stuck in her mind. "For several years he couldn't speak, but suddenly he could compose poetry...and also, there's a farmer's son from Jinxian who, at just five years old, suddenly could recite poetry and make rhymes."

Ah? Jing Jiuniang was stunned again, but this time it was due to amazement.

  So fierce!

"Yes, yes, wife. The seniors have said it, this is the immortal's enlightenment." Ban Qin said with joy, looking at Cheng Jiaoniang, holding her hands, "Wife, you are also enlightened. You originally lacked one of your three souls and two of your seven spirits. Now the immortal has finally returned your soul and spirit to you."

Ah! Is that so? Jingyan's eyes widened straight.

"Miss, it seems that Daoist wasn't a swindler after all! Maybe Master didn't intentionally abandon you either!" Half-chin was startled by her own words and couldn't help but exclaim in surprise, "Miss, why don't we go back to the Daoist temple? Master will definitely come back for you."

What? Can it be? Jingniang shook her head in her heart, but her movements couldn't keep up with her thoughts. One thought's expression hadn't even been made before another thought emerged, so in the end she didn't have any expression at all.

"We've come so far already, it's not good to go back now. Why don't we just head home instead? It'll save us some trouble." she said slowly in the end.

Ban Jin nodded, since her wife, who had been taken care of by her everywhere before, seemed to have a backbone after she got better. Although this wife still gets sick occasionally, she feels extremely at ease!

Jiang Nang's expression was wooden and she didn't say a word.

Ban Jin had already grasped her habits over these days, knowing that she was thinking and preparing to speak, so he looked at her expectantly without asking again.

"How much money have we saved up now?" asked Cheng Jiaoniang.

For Qian Banqin, she has to count her money twice a day and remember it by heart.

"Adding this time what Zhang's family gave me, I have ten taels of silver." She replied immediately.

Renting a house, seeing a doctor and taking medicine for herself, food, all cost money. Every time she earns some money, it will be spent quickly, but that's nothing, stop when there is no more, earn again, so the cycle repeats, and Cheng Jia gets closer day by day.

Seeing those relatives and returning to the home where I was born will allow me to sort out these chaotic, fragmented, and strange memories.

"That's enough for us to travel a bit," said Cheng Jiaoniang. "You go to the carriage and horse station immediately, we'll leave tonight."

  Right away? Tonight?

Ban Jin was somewhat surprised, although they always said they couldn't stay in one place for too long, the previous trips were all planned a day in advance, but this time it was the first time they left immediately after saying they would leave.

"Daughter, take care of your body," she said anxiously, "there's no need to rush."

Jiang Yao's face moved slightly, she originally wanted to shake her head, but it was really a bit difficult, so she gave up.

"This time, because of the illness of the lady next door, we have stayed in one place for several more days than usual." She said, with many words to say in her heart, but unfortunately, when she got to the mouth, her tongue was not very controllable, and had to speak briefly, finally only one sentence, "It's like this, I'm afraid it's not good."

What's wrong? Why is it wrong? Ban Jin was somewhat puzzled.

Jiang Yao didn't say anything anymore, just staring at her.

Those eyes had regained some of their vitality, but upon closer inspection, they seemed like a stagnant pool of dead water.

Ban Jin hurriedly lowered his head.

"Yes, I'll go and do it now," she said, hastily getting up and going out.

The house returned to quiet, the rain outside also stopped unknowingly, the humid air crept in with the cool breeze, this feeling made people very comfortable, Cheng Jiaoniang lay down, her mind empty, and she was once again in that numb and dazed state.

It's not that she didn't want to think, but rather she couldn't think. Once she tried to capture and organize those memories, she would get a headache and become confused, and might even become stupid. On the contrary, by emptying her mind and not thinking about anything, her body was getting better day by day, and the stupid disease was also becoming less frequent.

Ban Jin settled things quickly and came back soon, of course this was mainly because they had money on hand. Thinking back to when they left the Taoist temple and walked out of the provincial capital city, it took them seven days for that short distance.

"My daughter, let's pack up," she said. "The horse carriage from the station will come over tonight, so let's eat first and then we won't need to stop on the way at night."

Jiang Nang lay still on the couch and murmured in response.

He had just gotten out of bed and was feeling happy when he heard someone speaking loudly outside his door.

"Hey, is this the Divine Doctor's place?"

Half of the door was open, and the other half had not been pushed open yet. Outside the door were two men and one woman. When she looked over, the woman sitting on the doorstep shouted loudly.

"Oh no, little girl, hurry up and save me!" she cried out.

Ban Jin frowned, looking so spirited, how could he be ill? Besides, his wife had said that she would no longer see patients.

"Your illness is beyond my wife's skills, go to the hospital." She said, and was about to turn around.

Behind him, one of the men slapped his hand on the door with a loud smack.

"Why can't you cure it? Others have been cured by you, why can't ours be cured? Is it because we don't have money?" the man shouted.

Ban Jin looked at this man's ferocious appearance and didn't feel any fear.

Her family's daughter is indeed a divine person who can open up the wisdom of the immortals.

"No, it's because my wife only treats those who are on the verge of death and can't be saved, your wife doesn't have a serious..." she said.

Before he could finish speaking, the man turned around and kicked the woman straight in the chest.

The half-chopped cabbage and the woman's scream sounded at the same time. The difference was that the woman also spat out a mouthful of blood and fell to the ground motionless.

"Now, the person is almost dead, can't you cure him?" The man turned around, stretched out his hand again and heavily slapped it on the door, staring at the pale-faced girl in front of him, saying fiercely.

This isn't about seeing a doctor, this is about finding trouble!

He took a step back, but soon thought of his wife inside and returned to his original position, biting his lower lip with a pale face.

Is this what you just said, isn't it?
