Chapter 28: “One Small Town.” – Part 3.

Pausing the vision, Sylvie saw a ing appearan a few of the vampires and it was all lio the ohat stantly carried the barrels of vampire blood with the element preserved in it. Exactly like she’d learned over the years sinuclear energy had been developed, people unprotected would get sid show the same signs that her brethren were. Once vish bck flowing hair, was reduced to thin strands of nothing and often just kept falling out as they worked. Others developed skin plications where lesions formed in small pockets all over their bodies, exposing bone and muscle.

-Why aren’t they sing themselves? Blood is everything.-

Eventually, she saw the exposed vampires fall, bloodless on the ground and were absorbed into the ground that left a burned bodily imprint on the rocky surfabsp; Looking around at the others who were lightly suffering, Sylvie ran up to the small pool and noticed that the different pces had stopped rotating and it locked onto the world she’d seen before.

-They found it. What now…what am I supposed to see?-

Abandoning the gss pool, Sylvie took a quick t of the vampires she saw left over and it was about half of the initial popution that had lived underground in their peaceful pabsp; All at once, Sylvie stopped looking at the vampires preparing to move from their home and whisked herself outside to view the town.

  -No, no…no. It ’t be..-

Much like she feared, Sylvie’s heart ached as she saw the desote town, the once lovely oiled wood beams, weathered and crag. She floated between the shops that were once full of life and happiness, now devoid of anything but rotting corpses.

-They didn’t know…how could they? What the hell did they find?-

Ref her body, Sylvie sank to her knees and looked at the dying mountain that once held the huge mulberries, then turo where the cute little train station had been, but was now falling down and the rail pulled up.

-No blood for them to se themselves. No people to give blood. A circur hell. Both uo fix themselves.-

Lag any real education beyond the signs of radiation siess, Sylvie searched the remains of the town for any information she could.

It took a few mio find the st run of daily paper which was dated six years from the date on the sign. Repying the mencholy ses in her head once again, Sylvie noticed that the barrels of inated blood had bee behind as the remaining vampires left. A few seds after Sylvie hat the barrels were still in the ir, the blueprints for the bracers ran through her mind aled on the ohing she didn’t want to see, the bracer's power source.

-That’s why I have to find this pce, without some real source of power - no matter how votile, I ’t use the bracers. Fuck.-

Finally with one final shove of her gaseous form, Sylvie flew up and over the town thinking about what it should look like in its current form. Shifting clouds swirled arouhird eye and before long she felt herself settling back over the area.

Devoid of any real life, the nd was ashen and its soil ay gray making it look much like the moon’s surface, and within a couple of seds the tryside was doused in darkness with the sun’s light on the edges - an eclipse. While Sylvie looked around, the only familiar thing was the promi hill where the vampires formerly lived. Nothing remained of the town, even the nails used had seemingly evaporated in the subsequent hundred-plus years. Making things worse, Sylvie explored the area and found that the entire area had been fenced off and cameras pced over the ey of the nd with siging radioactivity, with a phone tached to the US Army in case necessary.

-Great. The ohing I need is both stupidly deadly, cordoned off by the military and I ’t se because there is no blood within a det radius that won’t ihers if I get close. Could this get any worse?-

Questions about what to do faded to the back of Sylvie’s mind as her third eye closed and her real full-blooded eyes opeo see her partner. “Mmm, Casey baby…” Sylvie mumbled through her drug-addled mind. “We’ve got a little problem…problem…problem..we’ve got a little problem…hummm..” Sylvie began singing out of nowhere which garnered a smile from Casey. “You are so beautiful..did ever tell you that?” When the deep, longing burn ihroat reared its ugly head, Sylvie simply opened her mouth and drank as much as she needed. “My head is spinning like a record…” Sylvie sighed a herself float iub while Casey held on to her. “How do I look covered in crimson?”

Certainly happy to have Sylvie awake again, Casey simply listeo her babbling fiancé as she came out of her vision. “Wow…you are really out of it, Sylvie.” Reag over to the dial beled ‘blood’, Casey began to refill the jacuzzi. “I didn’t know how long you’d been so I put on some musid just held you. I could feel that there were many things happening that you didn’t quite uand, which then turo anger and a little sorrow.” Casey ran her bloody fingers over Sylvie’s lips as she spoke. “I am not super sure that I like feeling what you feel, a few seds before you feel it…” Casey looked up at the bck light and finished, “...that made no se all…So, what the hell went on?”

Relutly pulling herself from both the rexed sensation of her partner’s hands on the back of her head and ned being covered in hot and arterial blood, Sylvie took a bit more of the irony fluid into her and expined everything that happened, down to exactly what caused it. “It all came back to whatever that radioactive stone or metal was in the vampire blood. I got the impression it reserving it and possibly making it more deadly.”

With the limited knowledge she had about the idea of something being radioactive, Casey swam over to Sylvie and hugged her from behind. “Taini, I am trained as a marine biologist.” Casey took her time and licked blood from Sylvie’s ned up to her ear, leaving a pink streak behind. “I think the most I ever took was a basic level entry ory, and I don’t really remember much of that.” Her voice went a little solemn, “I was drunk almost every day until my junior year, so I am not going to be much help.” Casey listeo Sylvie moan softly while under Casey’s pressured kiss-licks. “I bet the person who helped you design this room would be the one who’d know. I also think they’d trip over themselves to hear your void talk to you again.” Casey purred and slid her hands to cup Sylvie’s twin handfuls, “I think they have a crush on you, my psma-peach.”
