02- Second Floor

Just like the previous party this was wiped out successfully.

I also saw how foolishly they separated their forces.

Shaking my head at how stupid they are, but this is good for me. They give me terror points slowly, but surely as I can gain enough terror points to evolve.

Looking at my status window I knew I was close to it.

Looking at my status I noticed that I have alignment while my monsters don’t. Why is that? Or because they are bound to me so their alignment is the same as mine?

Not caring about it as I sat in my chair and looked through the description of each element in my status window so I wouldn’t miss anything.

Hyped title with little to no benefit.

  Next one.

  Again nothing changes!

Finally, a skill I can put on my shelves to collect dust. Not interested.

Oh? This skill is really interesting and would be great if I could increase its influence further so it can cover the whole dungeon, but currently, it is only the people who are near me likely around 5 meters (16.5 feet for Americans, Myanmar and Liberia friends).

I like this skill I would gladly upgrade it if I have the chance in the future.

Meh, another one for the shelves.

Looking at the trait Psychopath and alignment I must say the system knows me well. I don’t care about other people suffering and I would do anything so I can enjoy my current lifestyle.

Finishing reviewing myself I thought about my next problem to reach 1000 terror points.

I currently have around 88. As more and more people come into the dungeon I gain more, but how do I scare them? Should I let be attacked by Wendigos and then one of their teammates dragged off leaving the rest for later?

That is a good plan slowly, but surely I will make them crazy in this forest.

As long I have time I can get enough terror points so I can enjoy my life in blissfulness, but what I don’t have is time.

They find out their weakness, but I need to create my second floor before they find it.

Knowing I didn’t have time sighing as I started controlling the monsters for the first time as I needed terror points more than anything.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

With my intelligence and scheming it did not take long for me to gather the 1000 terror points for evolution. It only took me 2 sleepless days, who knew demons needed to sleep too?

Soon another window appeared in front of me.

I clicked yes and I felt energy coursing through my body as I looked towards my status screen.

My skills did not change, but my stats did, which is not great, I need Demonic Whispers to upgrade.

Even though it is great for my physical skills to be upgraded, if I have to fight humans over and over one day I will be exhausted to death so I need to avoid the possibility of me fighting.

With goals in mind, I could feel the dungeon responding to my upgrade as it allowed me to create the second floor and upgrade the number of monsters on the first floor.

I have enough screaming birds, but I need more Wendigoes.

So from their original 30, they went to 50.

As for the humans in the dungeon? They are dead as upgrading the dungeon can only be done if there is no invader in it and it will lock the dungeon down until I create the second floor or the safety period is up which is 10 hours.

What should my second floor look like?

No, first what creatures should live in here? What about parasites?

Yes, let's make parasites that can take over people's bodies.

What is the biggest fear of people? Your companion betraying you.

I should also let the first group spread the news about how you cannot trust your companion the second creates more tension and fear for me.

What I need for the parasites is not to be noticeable can hide easily and take over the host body without the host realizing it.

Let’s create an environment first. An empty field with an extremely strong blizzard raging all the time while it is nighttime.

What least you expect is that there are creatures living in this frozen wasteland and they can infect you at any time.

For the parasites they emit Benzodiazepines once they come close to their target so they won’t realize what is happening.

Their size? Not even 2cm long (0,78 inch).

Their physical bodies are not strong, but they have a special skill which is mutation.

This allows them to alter the host body with enough biomass. For their early weakness, they make up with their latent potential as unlike the wendigoes who are locked to floors, these creatures later can go up a floor once they reach enough strength.

I also created several other creatures that will pull all the attention from these parasites.

The first one is Night Stalker which has great burst speed and strength, but weak defense in exchange.

This job is to injure people so the parasites can infect them more easily.

The second one is what I call a bulldozer.

This instead of focusing on agility focuses more on defense and strength and they make a good combo to get all the attention.

I also made them as ugly and big as possible so everyone's attention would be on them instead of their surroundings.

Decorating this floor with abandoned houses scattered around the whole floor to create a false sense of security.

They might look safe from a distance, but they are the nest for these parasites.

Also made sure no survivor was attacked while in these houses as I commanded the monsters so they could let their guards down and boom.

Thinking about how will these parasites alter their host is something I am curious about and I can’t wait to find it out.

With this my floor is complete and I cannot wait to see my results.

“Listen up you fools our guild bought the raiding rights for this dungeon after the military failed so miserably last time.” An elegant, yet rough voice was the number one captain of the Tiger Fangs guild.

This guild is pretty weak in the area and we have to fight for every opportunity to get the raiding rights for dungeons of the lower end as high-ranking guilds also started buying lower dungeons as the high-ranking ones slowly got destroyed.

We cannot fail this raid as the guild paid a heavy price to steal this from another big guild.

I don’t know what price as I am a grassroots soldier in the guild.

With the captain's order over we marched into the dungeon, unlike the solo hunters before who could not trust each other and had priority to hunt dungeons in advance so their living weren’t at stake, but they had a maximum of 5 tries, and after that comes the military and we the guilds.

You might think we are in the worst-case scenario for being the last ones.

Not really as the previous groups explore undiscovered dungeons for the first time and with no information people can only fumble in the darkness.

But I swear before we came into the dungeon I saw it open up for a second and close again and doesn’t this gate look slightly redder?

There is no way a dungeon in 3 days can advance in a rank? After all, humanity would be exterminated if it is true and I hope I saw it wrong.
