Omake – Meet the Editor-san I

Oh, why hello there, friends. I didn’t see you there. Come in, come in.

“An Ill Wind” and beyond - Release Pn Announcement

Before we get to introducing myself, Rel has been a busy little bee and has had a draft of Volume 3 ready for some weeks now and has been working on outlines and more drafts for everything beyond. I’ve been chipping away, however, between my full-time job, family time and other activities like volunteering it’s my fault for not being able to keep up with her prodigious pace.

I’m super excited for you all to see all the cool stuff coming up but, mere mortal that I am, I’m only able to iron things out at roughly a rate of 1 chapter/day. This is pretty much my max though. It is with my limitations in mind that I’ve suggested a mild slow down and Rel has graciously agreed. She wants to keep you all rolling in the content while keeping things sustainable so we’re going to try out a 3 times per week schedule for An Ill Wind and see how it goes.

To repeat that: SL:R will be switching to Mon-Wed-Fri for An Ill Wind (and potentially beyond).

Before we get to the next volume however, we’ll be posting up about a week’s worth of Q&A chapters in the main feed as a bit of a breather. These “chapters” will consist of some prompting questions I’ve come up with for our dear author. Once you see the first one you should understand what’s going on much better. Please leave any questions of your own in the comments and we’ll respond to them or even work them into the Q&As as we go along.

  Sound good? Great!

Thank you all for all the positive feedback and attention so far, we’re so gd to have you with us and I personally look forward to everything we can do together going forward. You guys rock.

Announcement Received, Now Who Is This Editor-san Person?

Righty-o, so I go by AlliterativeArts and I’ve been helping our dearest Relwing with suggestions and edits for almost 5 years now.

The keen-eyed among you will have put together the timeline and that it was during Covid Lockdown that I got to know Rel. I’d been on ScribbleHub for a good while before, voraciously plumbing the depths of the site for those sweet-sweet content morsels, but like most solo activities during that period my reading time got supercharged quite a lot. And it was among those many many stories I was bingeing that one serial in particur caught my interest: The original draft of SuperLuminal, which was being released regurly at the time.

I started off in the comments, sporadically leaving suggested fixes to grammar and such for one or two lines. After a while I started making 5-6 suggestions per chapter. Eventually I straight up copied the contents of a chapter into Google Sheets (yes, the Excel-like), did a side-by-side of the original and my suggestions and sent the link to Rel in a DM.

Basically, I was an unstoppable menace.

Rel, being the kind hearted soul she is, took these suggestions to heart each step along the way and was always down to listen and share herself. And that’s it really, we’ve had a fruitful working retionship and an even better friendship ever since.

Anyway, SuperLuminal is but one of many stories Rel has worked on in the intervening years and I’ve tried to help her out however I can with those as well. But because there’s so much to work on, little ol’ me can’t always keep up. We are therefore always looking for whatever help people are willing to provide, whether it’s comments, constructive feedback or getting in there and doing full-blown editing.

Whether you’re interested in being not-so-subtly recruited to the cause or just want to chat, always feel free to say hi to either of us. I promise not to bite unless I have your permission.

Whelp, that’s my intro. I’ll probably pop up again at some point so don’t get spooked should I randomly appear. You all take care of yourselves, and may the Light ever shine upon you.
