"Huh!" Bryan's motion paused and he looked down at his hands with both eyes wide open from surprise.
Simply because for practically all his life he was physically weak as shit!
But now, he was shocked after discovering that the same mattress which almost broke his poor back getting it in the room on his own then on the bed ter on was seemingly such a simple task to pull it up.
Yes the other side of it is still leaning against the bed frame right now however, that doesn't necessarily mean that he's not more confident now in dragging it all the way to the area where the people of this building throw their trash without wasting a lot of time and expending a lot more effort doing so.
Especially when he's quite pressed for time this morning since there's still a final exam waiting for him to go attend.
'I would've done so ter if it didn't seem like such a bad idea to leave this stinky mattress pollute my room any longer than it already did... man! Now I have to waste more of what little money I have on me to buy some heavy air freshener on my way back.' Bryan thought to himself while dragging the mattress behind him, maybe he was so upset by this situation that he didn't even realize that he only needed to use one hand to do the task and the whole thing seemed effortless to him.
His feet were picking up speed but his hand was firmly holding it and it didn't require him to use the other one since bancing it wasn't even troubling him at all even when he went down the stairs a few floors down.
There was a pair of eyes watching him though, the person did follow him sneakily and actually got to see it all.
"Hey neighbor!" Linnet greeted him once Bryan returned, she was zily leaning against her door with a cup of coffee in her hand.
Her sleeping attire hugged her willowy and curvy body and her long bck hair was gathered in a simple ponytail with the ends scattering on the front and covering her right chest.
Bryan almost ughed once he saw the variety of cute animals on her clothes but he held it in and just smiled.
"I'm Linnet." Once she saw him nod towards her like usual then being the dulrd he is turn to open the door of his room, Linnet Knew that this wouldn't go anywhere with him unless she forces him to participate in any sort of healthy or unhealthy conversation.
"I know." Bryan answered then continued to push the door of his door open which caused the girl to grit her teeth while wishing for an opportunity to give him a sp on the back of the head then follow her action with a wonderful lecture of how to properly talk to a beauty like herself.
But she held it all in and moved to follow him while saying : "You're Bryan right!"
Bryan stopped and looked back at her while giving one more of his famous nods while answering : "Correct." Then went on to open the drawers of his desk to retrieve whatever he's going to need for the test.
'Is he being cold towards me or is this how he normally treats everyone I wonder.' Linnet thought to herself while swallowing another hard pill of pure patience but she was aware that she's starting to lose it around this guy and might really snap if this ft conversation continued any further.
"As much as I understand the reason behind why you helped me... I don't really buy it," In a st ditch to make this at least a meaning conversation between them she decided to change the topic, "So... why did you help me?" Linnet asked him while taking a sip of her coffee but her eyes squinted like a cat about to pounce.
Bryan organized everything he needs on the desk and put on one of his jackets then grabbed his umbrel because in his memory of that day it did rain heavily on his way back after the exam and he got himself soaked wet by the rain which gave him a nasty fever for the following week!
Meanwhile Linnet watched him in silence and frowned a bit once she saw him taking an umbrel since the sky is so clear right now and this day is looking to be another hot sweat-inducing one but she attributed his actions to him trying to impress her some way or another which made her feel quite fttered and more than happy to spot this detail.
"Do you believe that our actions do have deeper meaning?" Bryan asked while tying his shoes.
"What's this about all of a sudden?" Linnet leered at him while twisting her lips upwards in disgust because this approach is the worst for someone like herself who hates it to the core once boys tries to act all knowledgeable in front of her.
"Look. I'll try to make this as simple as possible since I do have a final exam in about an hour from now," Bryan packed his bag and looked at Linnet while strapping it on his shoulder then grabbed his umbrel, "Let's assume that there's a scenario where I don't help you at all and Owen somehow convinces you to exchange the rent for some sort of "Service", then once he "Receives" it that bastard would convince you to do an exchange with him."
"What kind of exchange would that be?" Linnet asked while taking another sip of her coffee but she was actually trying to hide the expression on her face from him while thinking to herself : 'Holy shit! How the fuck did he know that I was pnning to do something with that bastard to get him off my back yesterday?'
"I'd say he'd offer to waive your rent for a couple years in exchange for taking something "Precious" from you." Bryan said while fixing his clothes in front of the mirror before heading out.
*Snort*
Linnet followed and left his room while scowling but mostly because she's disappointed in herself since she knows that such a deal is not something which is beyond the limits of acceptance considering her current circumstances.
But the reason of her discontent is because this ice block had her all figured out almost completely while she doesn't even know anything about him at all.
"What I did was something so easy for me to do yet it might've changed the whole trajectory of your life from that moment which is why I consider it worth it even if I end up having to spend the rest of the month with less money for myself." Bryan said while locking his door which caused him to miss the glossy look within Linnet's eyes once she heard him.
"Well. Bye." He waved then headed for the stairs.
"Good luck on your exam." Linnet waved him with a wide smile on her face.
"Please. I'm going to crush that poor sucker so bad it'd leave my professor with a horrifically ugly face, too bad I wouldn't be able to get to see that one!" Bryan answered without even turning then disappeared down the stairs.
Linnet on the other hand was left quite impressed by his immeasurable confidence, but she liked it so much that she went and stood near the window of her room and watched him walk down the street with a smile on her face.
The thing he said about doing something to change the trajectory of her life might was made to sound like easy but it sure as hell isn't by any means "Easy" from her perspective at all, especially when he openly admitted that he's going to have to tighten his belt in the days to come.
"He's so sweet... why do I feel like it's a good thing to trust him all of a sudden? Is it because he's confident or is it because he seems like such a dependable fellow?" Linnet muttered to herself while dancing her way towards the kitchen sink to throw the cup on top of many other cups and dirty ptes.
Right when she was about to make the hard decision of actually doing something about that mess her phone rang and the caller turned out to be her friend and co-worker in the local diner of the neighborhood.
"Shit! I'm te." She said before discarding the thought completely from her mind and hurried to answer while getting dressed which made up for such an awkward yet amusing scene of her tumbling around the room.
