Chapter 51: Garunteed sales, garunteed progress

  ~~~ Westbend’s Administrative building~~~
  “So, you are telling me that Ms.Silverwright has yet to register here? Then we need to get this matter investigated and corrected. If she has yet to register, then she surely owes quite a bit. I must strongly insist that the city take this matter seriously. If not corrected promptly, the new generation will all believe that they can get away with it.” the large man was aggressively trying to persuade the staff.
  “Thank you, we will be sure to look into it. If this Ms.Silverwright has truly yet to register a business, then you are completely correct in needing to recover back taxes.” the lowly staff replied, hoping to placate the commercially powerful man.
  “Good, then I expect this will be resolved promptly?” The man asked while making it sound like an order.
  “We will do our best, Mr. Ga–”
  “Heustess, what makes this girl so special? Why would one of the guild heads bother with checking the tax records involving an unaffiliated stone tier?” asked the mayor, having heard the last bit of exchange while entering the building.
  “Mayor Black, it is always a pleasure seeing you.” The large man responded, turning to face the mayor and giving a slight bow. “But to answer your question, I was just telling the staff here that it would only teach the new residents that they could avoid taxes if they refuse to register properly.”
  “That did not answer my question.” the mayor said while narrowing his eyes at the merchant.
  Smiling with his response, Heustess replied, “I guess that it did not. But I really need to get going. I hope to see you soon for lunch, but I really must insist on this matter and the urgency to teach this generation.”
  Slightly grabbing his arm for a brief moment as the large man passed, mayor black said; “Be assured that we will investigate, but I hope this is not related to anything untoward involving this young girl.”
  “I assure you that I have nothing but the most honest of intentions.” Heustess said, before continuing out the door, the scowl not quite visible from under his polite demeanor.
  After waiting for the door to fully close, the mayor turned to the staff member and asked. “So, what do you think of this?”
  “I am not quite sure, sir. It appears as if Mr. Gald is correct. But it sure seems odd that he would be this interested in the matter. Especially to the point that he didn’t just send his staff down for such a small matter.”
  “Well, that part is easy to figure out at least.” the mayor replied.
  “How so sir? If you don’t mind explaining, sir.” the staff asked, hurrying to add the last bit.
  “Easy, it means that it is personal and that he doesn’t want it on the guild records.”
  “Oh… So, what should I do?”
  “Exactly what he wants. Not because he wants it, but because he is right on this. But, I would also request the files on this young lady brought to my office. If Mr. Gald is interested in such an upstart, then she should be worth looking into. How I look at it, she will either be a menace to the town, or a great boon moving forward if she has already riled up one of the guild heads.” The mayor told his staff.
  This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.
  “Yes sir.” the staff member responded before quickly adding. “Would you also like her partner's name?”
  “If it is a business partner, then of course. What exactly do they sell though? I would assume ores or other materials?”
  “I believe they mostly sell crops and monster materials.”
  “So they are foragers?”
  “No sir, Farmers from the looks of it. All the monster parts are the standard pests. It just seems that they collect quite a high quantity of monster parts. Approximately 50 units daily of monster parts, varying in species collected, but they also seem to be producing above average amounts of produce as well.”
  “Really!? That is…quite extraordinary. It still does not explain Mr.Gald’s interest, but it does make me even more curious. Be sure to bring everything we have on them. I might need to put some thought into this before we send anyone to collect.” the mayor said before turning to leave for his office.
  “Yes sir. I will try finding what I can.” the staff said while giving a slight bow of respect
  ~~~ Brad~~~

  Having made it through breakfast and telling Mia the whole story about his night-time negotiations, Brad was quite proud and happy with his accomplishments. Now walking out to the fields he asked Mia; “So, how are we receiving the orders from the goddess?”

  “They should be coming through standard deliveries of messages to the farm. I do not expect any until after the season change though. There is not quite enough time to change crops just yet, nor is it time to plant the summer crops.” Mia responded before adding. “I just cannot believe that we landed such a good client! I am just ecstatic about it.”

  “That is one thing that I was curious about. I get that having a permanent client is great, but we currently are able to sell a hundred percent of our inventory, why would we give a client a discount just for being a regular, outside of just being a regular?”

  “You are right that it will drag down our profits for now, but we are selling everything now because the system buys all stone tier items that are not purchased by the standard market. At the copper tier this is no longer the case. And as you can probably guess, our inventory will most likely start to pile up some. Guaranteed buyers are the best thing that we could hope for long term.”

  “Oh, did not realize that. That makes way more sense now. So with a guaranteed buyer, we will have less waste essentially.”

  “Exactly!” Mia beamed at Brad, proud of his growing mercantile knowledge. “Now, we just need to start preparing for the first contract and starting to initiate the plot transfers.”

  “Plot transfers? Oh, you mean bringing your plot over here.” Brad instantly remembered.

  “Yes, but don’t forget that we not only have to physically transfer mine, but we need to consolidate yours and mine to make it consistent with the contract.”

  “That sounds like a pain. Just tell me when I need to sign, I hate paperwork.”

  “Brad, you have to be physically present there when we apply for it. This is not something that I can just do without you. As bad as you are with paperwork, this is something that I will need you to be present for.” Mia told her boyfriend.

  “Understood. When should we go do it?”

  “The day after tomorrow would be best. That would give us enough time to get this harvest picked, sorted, and sold. We will need some coin in order to do all of this. To be honest though, money will be extremely tight for the next week or two. Especially since we still need to start purchasing next season's seeds.” Mia said, quite worriedly

  “I am sure that it will all work out. Besides, you are about to tier up yourself in not too long. Hopefully you get a cool upgrade too!. Brad said encouragingly

  “We can hope!” Mia said, sharing in the enthusiasm as they approached the fields.

  “Well, it looks like it may be a long day. It seems that the harvest came early.” Brad said, dreading the long hard day to come.

  “That it did! I cannot wait to see what we have to sell. It must be from your copper version of Bountiful Harvest!” Mia said, bouncing in anticipation.
