Bonus chapter 2
Middle school badminton club
At the beginning of the final year of Dhwaj and Yoru’s middle school days.
“Hey, Yoru. It’s time of the year again.”
“Yup.”
It was the day when the first years get to choose their clubs. Our badminton club was kinda unpopular among the masses, but we never scout for new members. It was my idea to do so. Even though the club captain doesn’t like me, he has to do what I suggest. My words carry more weight than his after all.
“Hey, Shiroy-san. There are some people who wants to meet you.” I was called by the club manager.
“Okay, on my way.”
It’s a thing that started happening ever since last year after I disintegrated my opponents during the prefectural tournament.
“Shiroy-kun has become quite popular, hasn’t he.” Yoru said teasingly

“It’s kinda awkward having to talk to people every few months. Now I somewhat regret playing badminton.”
“Then why you play?”
“To enjoy of course.”
“See, it’s all that matters.”
“I guess you’re right.”
“Come on, you don’t want them waiting.”
“Haha, okay.”
The moment I went out, the first years were all surrounding me. I was okay with the boys, but the girls were another case.
The girls were simultaneously asking questions, I was so overwhelmed that I forgot that can speak Japanese. I wish Yoru was nearby.
“Hey, Shiroy-kun, are you going good?”
“Yoru, help me” I expressed to him visually
“Okay girl, one question at a time.”
“Hey, who do you think you are. Don’t tell us what to do.” One girl spoke up
“DON’T. TALK. TO HIM. LIKE. THAT.” I shout “YOU DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT TO.”
“Tsk. Don’t get cocky just because you are popular.”
“If you are done. Please leave.”
“As you all can see, he gets angry easily. So please one question at a time.” Yoru chose to soften the atmosphere
After that the girls asked one question at a time. Then came the boys. Some asked how I managed to be so good at playing, and some asked if they could join our club. There were more questions, but I can’t remember.
“Shiroy-kun stood for me huh.”
“That’s what frien- I mean, allies do.”
“You were saying something about friends?” Yoru said with a grin
“Nope, you might’ve misheard it.”
“So, Shiroy-kun, you have to go against 13 boys tomorrow right?”
“Yeah” I say with a sad face
It is actually a rule for the best player of final year member to go against the newcomers to assess their abilities, and I happen to do this job for this year.
And if the players don’t find potential in the newcomers, they are declined their membership in they don’t show any potential.
“Shiroy-kun. You should go home early and get some extra sleep. I’ll do the rest”
“Very well”
So what are your thoughts so far?
