[Chapter Size: 1800 Words.]
Third Person POV
London.
...
...
Since Snape had arrived at the cliffside house in a remote corner of Engnd, two weeks had passed.
The man who was his guide, as he had been the previous year, was surprised by Snape's request when he expressed interest in buying the house. He eventually took the proposal to the agency, which got in touch with the owner.
The former owner had no intention of selling, but as soon as he saw the money offered by Snape—over 50,000 galleons converted into dolrs, a fortune—he agreed to sell it, despite not knowing Snape was a wizard. With documents authenticated by Gringotts Bank, Snape managed to complete the transaction even though he was only 16 years old, without needing a guardian.
After signing the papers and transferring the money, Snape now had his own home, a pce where no one should know his whereabouts. He needed a house-elf to help him there, but he didn't want to call Dobby because he had just given him a break, even though Dobby would be working with his father. He'd figure that out ter.
Snape now established a routine in this pce as he spent his days there. Even away from Hogwarts, there was no rest; in fact, his activities had intensified. He spent his days in constant work, whether it was his continuous potion production for his projects, daily physical activities, or magical training.
Alpha and Shadow were also free on the property, and as Alpha's natural habitat was the rocky beach, he seemed very happy, running down to spend his days sleeping among some caves he'd found while exploring the shore.
Not wanting people to know where he lived, Snape continued concealing any information that could reveal his location, with Gringotts itself managing his affairs and hiding any details. He remained well-hidden, except for the Hogwarts owl that had found him st year.
He then initiated his pns, which included sending letters to some people and receiving some responses. He had to pick up the letters at a designated point so no one would know where he lived.
Nonetheless, a few letters arrived at his door. Unsurprisingly, one of these letters came directly from Gringotts Bank, where the goblins informed him of the progress of the project he had requested. Snape was surprised to receive it.
"I didn't expect them to be so open to helping me…" Snape murmured, a little surprised at the content.
The goblins communicated that they were doing their utmost to improve the technique to forge the sword that was supposed to meet Snape's expectations. Unbeknownst to him, the bank managers had held a special meeting to discuss his request. They debated whether or not to resume the production of metal objects after nearly a century of not creating anything, but this time, Snape's request seemed unique, prompting them to change their traditions.
Thus, a major operation began at Gringotts. All the goblins were mobilized to reactivate the forges, with goblins making rge equipment purchases and moving all over the bank.
This surprised the magical community, which now watched the goblins in action after they had kept to themselves for so many generations. The bank opened new rooms and put several goblins to work in the forges, relearning and improving their crafting techniques, as most goblins of this generation had never made swords or other items.
Snape was truly surprised when he saw the newspaper headline in the following days: "The Strange Movement of the Goblins, What's Happening at Gringotts?" spshed across the front page. The images showed numerous goblins moving rge equipment into the bank.
Anyway, he set that matter aside for a moment and decided to read the reply letter after sending a message to the Bck family, which had been discreetly received by Beltrix.
She, in turn, replied with a letter he had requested she deliver without revealing his current location. As he read it, unsurprised, he noted her dissatisfaction with Snape's dey, informing him that she had managed to arrange a meeting with her grandmother, and Snape was to be at the Bck mansion in three days at the first hour of the afternoon, and he was not to miss it.
"Very well." Snape nodded with satisfaction; it was time to put his pns into action.
There was another letter arriving at his door, and it was about Steve, who, unsurprisingly, had found his house as well. The letter contained warnings that had begun to reach him, subtly hinting at those who were after him. Although no one mentioned it openly, Snape knew that many people were keeping an eye on his movements, including some pure-blood families and possibly even the Bck family itself.
Snape continued his routine calmly, but when the appointed day arrived, he decided to leave. He donned his long, bck overcoat, wearing it open over a dark shirt, pants, and shoes. He prepared all the items he might need for any situation—whether a negotiation or a battle—in his inventory and departed. After all, as soon as he left his current house, he would be among the "wolves" from all corners of Engnd, and he needed to be prepared.
He quickly returned to London and made his way to a more aristocratic part of the city, where several mansions stood imposingly along the streets.
Snape noticed many wizards in that area, seeing brooms flying across the sky and magic being used for household chores, like floating wn mowers and scissors trimming hedges in gardens. House-elves were also working, moving at high speeds when no one else was around to see them.
He approached a particur house with a bck facade, richly built. He stopped in front of it and rang the bell—a small chime that he swung. A house-elf appeared instantly, looking rather grumpy, and eyed Snape with suspicion.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" the elf asked, not recognizing Snape and making no effort to hide his displeasure at seeing him there.
"I have an appointment with the family matriarch at this very moment," Snape replied, showing the invitation from Beltrix.
The house-elf examined the paper, his expression softening slightly upon recognizing it, and he disappeared without another word.
He returned about ten seconds ter, snapping his fingers for the gate to open. "My dy will receive you, half-blood!" he grumbled, possibly echoing words from the matriarch herself upon learning of Snape's arrival.
Snape ignored this and simply followed the elf as they moved toward the mansion. The pce was completely empty on the outside, with only magic performing the mansion's maintenance tasks.
As they approached the entrance, a young man appeared at the door, opening it and observing him with interest. "So, you're here," said the young man.
Snape raised an eyebrow, recognizing him as the younger brother of Sirius Bck—Regulus Bck, or possibly the future patriarch of the family.
"Yes." Snape replied, raising an eyebrow as he looked at him.
"Well, Severus Snape, just be careful with my grandmother." The young man offered some advice and continued, "She is certainly not the easiest, but I believe you can handle it. I watched you all year at Hogwarts, Mr. Snape, so don't disappoint me." He finished, passing by Snape, who merely shrugged, as it wasn't worth engaging with the young man's attempt to issue an order. He continued following the house-elf inside.
"Kreacher, I want you to come to me after helping Mr. Severus," the young man ordered, and the elf nodded. "Of course, Master Regulus!" the elf responded in a tone much softer than Snape had ever expected to hear from a creature like him. It seemed he liked Regulus Bck.
Snape continued walking as he entered the house, noticing several portraits of past Bck family wizards and even wizards roaming the house, likely guards, all watching him with stern looks. Accompanied by the elf, he climbed the stairs to an upper floor where there was a corridor leading to a central room.
Kreacher opened the door, and Snape stepped inside, finding two women having tea at that moment, both dressed in bck. The older woman had white hair, wrinkled skin, and a severe, harsh expression, yet she exuded an aura of nobility with her meticulous movements as she drank her tea. Beside her was Beltrix, also dressed in bck, but in a more conservative and formal manner than usual—a contrast to her chaotic personality.
"You've arrived," Beltrix said in her typically hostile tone.
"Calm yourself, Beltrix," her grandmother reprimanded her firmly beside him at that moment. "You were the one who arranged this meeting. Can you at least treat our guest with the respect he deserves?" she said.
Beltrix nodded, keeping her expression more controlled. Snape raised an eyebrow, noting how submissive she seemed in her grandmother's presence.
"Anyway," the matriarch continued, turning her gaze toward him, "so you are the famous Severus Snape," she said, observing him without even rising from her chair. Snape had expected this kind of behavior from this family.
He was approaching when he heard something beside him. "A half-blood like you dares to be in my house?" commented a portrait next to Snape, showing hostility as it looked at him with disdain, spitting on the floor.
"Calm yourself, Phineas Bck III. Your time in this world ended hundreds of years ago, so don't be so arrogant; the house is no longer yours, you fool," the woman replied, and the man in the portrait growled at her but said nothing more.
"Well, well, let's continue with this." The matriarch spoke again, looking at Snape with interest. "You know, I'm curious to learn more about you. Your name became quite famous this year, Severus Snape, especially with compints from noble families. I was surprised when Beltrix suggested this meeting, and frankly, I hadn't pnned on wasting my time with you. However, she insisted, saying you had something rather interesting to tell us." She spoke with a look that tried to study Snape and all his secrets. She didn't think much of him, despite his talent having been mentioned.
Snape nodded, ignoring the portrait as he approached the table. Beltrix watched him intently, not taking her eyes off him.
"Now, please, sit down. Let's talk and begin this little meeting. I ask all the portraits to keep their dissatisfaction to themselves, as I am now speaking with a guest, whether he is a half-blood or not," the matriarch decred in a severe tone, looking at the other portraits.
The portraits seemed to obey her words with displeased looks, and Snape sat across from the Bck family matriarch, ready for the conversation.
"Very well. Let's begin, Mrs. Astraea Bck." Snape sat down and spoke her name, looking directly into her eyes without fear, while most would have looked away from this woman.
