WHERE FATE TAKES THE LEAD - PART 3

  "Yes!" the man replied.

"Oh boy!" Joseph sighed. "I thought he was bluffing when he said he'd send the report here. But he promised me he wouldn't include that."

"It also says you've gained some control over your seal when it's reduced by half. At least that's one burden off our shoulders," the man continued. "We'll grant you access to that half-broken seal on your forehead to aid in combat. If your performance satisfies us, we might even reduce the stress on the Katsuragi Victory Empire."

"Remember, we'll be keeping an eye on you. No shenanigans, alright?" the man said sternly, to which Joseph nodded in response.

"Good. Because right now, you, Joseph Benjamin Carmen the Unkillable, are going to make history by saving the multiverse," the man declared.

"History, huh?" Joseph said, his lips curling into a mischievous grin. "Well, if that's the case, you better write my name in bold letters because when this is over, they'll be singing songs about me. Joseph Benjamin Carmen, the unkillable ladies' man, multiverse savior, and seal-wielding badass."

The man pinched the bridge of his nose, already regretting hyping Joseph up. "Focus, Joseph. This isn’t some heroic tale for you to inflate your ego. The fate of countless realities depends on your actions."

Joseph leaned back with a playful shrug. "Relax, I got this. I mean, who else could impregnate the undead and hybrids with 'dead wombs' and turn them into mothers? If I can pull off that miracle, saving the multiverse should be a piece of cake."

The man sighed deeply. "You’re impossible. This isn’t a joking matter. And yes, your... reproductive 'miracles' were explicitly noted in Yoshi’s report. I don’t know whether to be impressed or terrified."

Joseph chuckled, then tilted his head, his tone becoming more serious. "Look, I know I’ve been reckless, but if you’re trusting me with this broken seal, I won’t let you down. Half-power or not, I’ll do whatever it takes to fix this mess."

The man studied Joseph's face, a flicker of hope mingling with his frustration. "Good. Because your antics may have gotten us into this mess, but your potential might just be the key to getting us out of it. Just remember, we’ll be watching."

Joseph smirked, his confidence unshaken. "Well then, sit back and enjoy the show. Joseph Benjamin Carmen is about to make history—and this time, it won’t be for my reputation with the ladies."

As the man watched Joseph stride away, he muttered under his breath, "I hope history survives long enough to remember you, Carmen." Just as Joseph was about to step out the door, the man's voice stopped him.

"Don't fuck this up, Joseph," the man said, his tone serious. "I mean it."

Joseph paused, then turned back, their faces almost touching. He spoke with a mix of confidence and a playful smirk. "Wow, using the F word again, I see... Bring it on."

But Joseph wasn't done yet. With a sudden shift in his demeanor, he added something that took the man by surprise. "And by the way, I already made history once... this time, I'm rewriting it."

"Your entire Isekai, RPGs—Role-playing Games and LitRPGs, meaning Literary Role Playing Games—story is about to take a drastic turn," Joseph declared, a sly grin spreading across his face. "I am... The Isekai Savior." He paused for dramatic effect.

The man exchanged an uneasy glance, his nods tinged with skepticism. Joseph mirrored the look, but his expression was laced with sarcasm. With a raised eyebrow and a smirk, he added, "You're surprised?"

"Not at all, because he also informed us about this and your fourth wall breaking, which we're all aware of, JBC," said the man.

"Who's this person you keep speaking of? What's their name, and do we know each other?" Joseph asked, curiosity piqued.

"Oh, you'll find out soon enough," the man replied, motioning for Joseph to take a walk with him. Joseph followed behind. Just before they entered the elevator, Joseph caught a glimpse of his distant future on a display monitor. All timelines on the screen seemed to portray the same outcome in every universe, where Joseph and most of his infinite variants were being held with compassion by all protagonists and antagonists, who were shedding tears for him due to his selfless sacrifice.

Stunned, Joseph questioned the man, but the man refused to answer, signaling his agents to either turn off the monitors and holographic projections or switch to another set of timelines. As the agents struggled to change the displays, Joseph paced, questioning a few of them as to why every fictional franchise character was crying for him. None of them responded. Meanwhile, the man yelled at his agents to change the stations.

After a tense moment, the man finally found the timeline master control remote and switched the displays. He motioned for Joseph to follow as they entered the elevator. Inside, Joseph continued his questioning, but the man remained silent, not willing to reveal anything. In the man's thoughts, he felt a sense of relief that Joseph hadn't seen one particular future displayed on the screen—one where Lyra came to spend time with him in Katsuragi Victory Empire, their tumultuous relationship full of breakups and reconciliations.

They proceeded to the next upper floor of the organization, where the man handed Joseph a fragment of his lost XPT. Joseph thanked him and asked how he got it. The man explained they recovered it after Joseph's fall into their world.

Joseph then asked for a drink, and the two of them headed to a cafeteria. Joseph initially ordered coffee but changed his mind to cappuccino.

"Medium coffee. Cream. Two sugars," said the café attendant.

"I think I'd like to try a cappuccino! Cappuccino!!!..." Joseph said teasingly. "I enjoy saying that. It's like a waterfall made of letters." He added, with a smirk, as the female café attendant stared at him awkwardly, raising an eyebrow.

After receiving his cappuccino, Joseph took a sip. "Hmm... that's unexpectedly hot. Geez, that's good! It's like losing my virginity, but in my mouth," he said, as the attendant stared at him in shock.

"Come to think of it, it's like prophet Muhammad washed my tongue," Joseph continued with a grin. "Right before he finished, he finally told my dad, 'He's good enough.'" He raised an eyebrow, winked, and smiled.

Afterward, the man turned to Joseph with a serious expression. "There are a few things you need to understand before we proceed," he said, his tone firm. "First, you'll be learning about the kingdom's history—everything you need to know about our world, its people, and its intricacies. It’s crucial for your mission. You’ll also be training for a while to keep yourself in peak condition. After that, we'll assign you a small group of warriors—probably two or three—to assist in sorting out various issues in the neighboring regions."

"However, since you've already assisted most of the regions in Akakawa, your mission shouldn't be too extensive to accomplish—provided there are no shenanigans from you or your party," the man added, his tone laced with warning.

Joseph nodded, absorbing the information, but the man wasn’t finished. "You'll also be equipped with Akakawa’s tech. It’ll serve as an upgrade to your XPT, since it’s running low on power. With our tech, you'll be able to learn everything about the kingdom in an attosecond. Now, let's get to it."

Before they could move on, Joseph suddenly paused. His eyes scanned the room as if listening for something. The man raised an eyebrow, noticing the change in Joseph's demeanor. "What’s going on?" he asked, sensing something was off.

Joseph, still focused, replied with a hint of amusement, "Some of your workers are playing games. Mortal Kombat Zero. They switched from Dragon Ball Daima to Jump Force Final."

The man let out a deep sigh and stepped forward, addressing his workers. "Focus on your jobs, not distractions. Anyone playing games, get back to your stations and work. Now."

The few workers who had been engrossed in their games quickly snapped out of their distraction, exiting the gaming screens and returning to their tasks. The man, though stern in his words, felt a subtle relief that the issue was handled swiftly.

Joseph shook his head with a grin. "Damn, I love MK Zero. It’s the only game that merges all existing characters—both old and new—into one collection. You can customize the characters, their abilities, and even create new moves from various franchises. Whether they’re from classic games, movies, or even new characters from novels, it’s all in there. It’s the only DLC game where all the major gaming corporations came together to make it happen."

He chuckled to himself. "Too bad the real world hasn’t reached that level yet. Maybe in the next hundred years, they’ll develop something like that. Not to mention the VR aspect of MK Zero—it’s sick. You could customize yourself as a character with your imagined abilities, moves, and all that. It’s a dream come true for any gamer."

The man glanced at Joseph, shaking his head with a faint smile. "Focus, Carmen. We’ve got a kingdom to prepare for."

Joseph grinned back, his playful nature never far from the surface. "Right. Kingdom stuff. Got it."

The man led Joseph through a grand corridor lined with glowing panels, each displaying holographic projections of battles, schematics, and alien landscapes. He spoke with an air of authority, explaining their surroundings while Joseph tried to absorb the surreal reality he had stepped into.

Their first stop was a cavernous training room, equipped with high-tech machinery and holographic simulators. “This is where you’ll put your physique to the test,” the man said, gesturing to the facility.

Joseph glanced around, taking in the sleek design and intricate details of the space. Before he could respond, the man turned to him, his tone suddenly sharp. “Alright, show me what you’ve got.”

“You mean right now?” Joseph asked, startled.

“Yeah! Right now,” the man replied firmly. “The multiverse is in danger because of you, and you think we have time to give you a break? Hell no, JBC. Let’s see what you’re capable of. We’ll mark your long-term training as complete right here and now.”

“But I don’t have a weapon,” Joseph protested, only to catch a handle tossed to him mid-air.

“Press the side button,” the man instructed, leaning casually against a console.

Joseph complied, and a blade of radiant energy shot out from the handle, humming softly with power. His eyes widened in shock. “A lightsaber? Doesn’t this belong to Star Wars?”

“Doesn’t this belong to Star Wars?” the man mocked in a sarcastic tone, mimicking Joseph’s awe. “Or maybe Star Trek. Who cares? Use it!”

“Nice one,” Joseph muttered, stepping cautiously into the battle ring. The man activated a set of battle droids, their mechanical limbs clicking as they surrounded him.

“Oh, and here’s a little challenge,” the man added, flipping another switch. A massive beast materialized, its roar shaking the room. Its towering frame loomed over Joseph, its claws gleaming menacingly.

“Whoa! Is it safe to unleash a monster during training?” Joseph asked, gripping the lightsaber tightly.

The man smirked. “Relax. It’s harmless. Its aura level is barely anything.”

Joseph wasn’t convinced, but he squared his shoulders and readied himself. As the droids attacked, he moved instinctively, slicing through them with precision. Each strike was clean and calculated, his movements fluid as if he had been training for this his entire life.

When the monster lunged, Joseph evaded with ease, its claws swiping harmlessly through the air. With a sharp pivot, he delivered a clean strike, severing one of its massive arms. The creature howled in agony, its rage intensifying. Joseph didn’t hesitate, delivering three swift slashes that left the beast in pieces on the ground.

The man clapped slowly, a grin spreading across his face. “Impressive. You just completed what would have been your long-term training in thirty seconds.”

Joseph exhaled sharply, his grip on the lightsaber loosening as the blade hummed to a quiet halt. "Well," he muttered, his voice tinged with weariness, "that was... intense."

Unbeknownst to him, the creature lying in a lifeless heap at his feet radiated an aura of power so immense, it had the potential to ripple across entire worlds. The air around its motionless form seemed to hum faintly, a lingering echo of the monstrous energy it once wielded.

“Now then,” the man said, retrieving the lightsaber and deactivating it. “Let’s move on to the next part of the tour.”

They walked into the weaponry station, a vast room filled with advanced tech. Joseph’s eyes widened at the array of high-tech gadgets—armored suits, futuristic vehicles, cutting-edge ammunition, and weapons he couldn’t even begin to name.

“Pick whatever you desire,” the man said, gesturing to the collection.

Joseph walked slowly, his gaze moving across the dazzling options. Each item seemed more unique and powerful than the last, promising a level of capability he could barely comprehend. The man watched silently, waiting to see what Joseph would choose.

The man watched Joseph closely, his arms crossed as he leaned against a table cluttered with advanced weapons and gadgets. "While your recovered XPT still holds some energy," he began, "it’s not enough for sustained combat. You’ll need to fuse it with one of our technologies to enhance its capabilities."

Joseph nodded, his gaze scanning the room filled with an overwhelming array of high-tech weaponry. Gleaming rifles, plasma swords, energy shields, and more lined the shelves, each humming softly with dormant power. Yet, as his eyes roamed, they finally settled on a simple baton tucked into a corner. He picked it up, examining its sleek design.
