Chapter 6
Strength And Shadows.
The forest was still, but Sam’s mind and body were anything but.
He moved through a series of drills — sword swings, spear thrusts, footwork patterns — every movement precise, calculated. His body had grown stronger, but that was only part of the equation.
? AIRS
? Physical performance analysis: 92% efficiency.
? Recommended improvement: stamina maintenance, layered combat drills.
He focused next on mana control. First, he attempted to coat his body in a thin, dense layer of mana — undetectable to any observer, even other mages. The sensation was subtle: a barely perceptible hum beneath his skin.
? AIRS
? Mana dispersion stable. Coverage: 94% surface area. Detection probability: <1%.
Next, he channeled it into his weapons. His sword and wooden spear began to resonate slightly under his touch.
? AIRS
? Sword sharpness amplified by mana: +120%.
? Spear structural integrity reinforced: capable of piercing stone.
Sam tested his enhancements. A single swing of the sword sliced through a small tree. His wooden spear drove cleanly into a large boulder, leaving a deep fissure.

He smiled faintly.
“This is just the beginning,” he whispered.
Hours passed. Sweat mixed with cold, morning air. Sam repeated exercises, refining mana efficiency: minimal energy loss, maximum output, and invisibility to any onlooker.
? AIRS
? Mana usage efficiency: 88%. Potential maximum efficiency: 97% with layered neural calibration.
For now, the world remained silent. Kingdoms clashed beyond forests. Tribes quarreled. And Sam had no knowledge of their struggles — only observation, preparation, and growth.
Meanwhile, far from the forest, in Lie’s tribe…
The announcement of exile rang through the village. Shock and anger stirred, but no one dared oppose the new leader.
Lie, his mother (Aunt Luo), and his sister (Xian) hastily packed essential items, both practical and emotionally valuable. When they stepped outside their hut, they froze.
Four figures approached, traveling with them:
Uncle Wang, late 30s, maternal uncle of Lie.
His daughter, Yuner, roughly Lie’s age.
Two young men in their late 20s, loyal to Lie’s father — orphaned boys raised by him.
- TRIBAL OBSERVATION
Group traveling together: 7 individuals. Destination: unknown.
The seven departed the tribe, tension thick in the night air. From behind, a bitter, mocking voice rang out:
“It seems even exiles think they deserve pity,” sneered Uncle Mu’s wife.
The tribe’s people murmured uneasily. Most were unhappy, but none dared speak against the leader.
Night fell as the group searched for shelter. Eventually, they found a shallow cave, hidden and defensible.
Two of the men — Uncle Ning and Uncle Ding — went hunting for food. Lie and Uncle Wang remained, keeping watch.
Inside the cave, the women rested: Aunt Luo, Xian, and Yuner, exhausted from travel and the sorrow of their loss. The silence was heavy, carrying the grief of Lie’s father’s death.
Minutes later, Uncle Ning and Uncle Ding returned, carrying a rabbit.
UNCLE NING
Ready to prepare.
UNCLE DING
Fire placement suggested near cave entrance for ventilation.
The smell of roasting meat mingled with the cold, damp air. Lie’s eyes burned with a quiet, restrained anger. He was stronger than his cousin, yes, but the weight of circumstances bound him.
Even in exile, even in hardship, he endured.
The forest outside was dark. The river nearby murmured softly. And far from all this, Sam trained relentlessly, unaware of the turmoil that would eventually link their fates.
