Prologue

In a dark corner of the Sun Kingdom, deep within the slum district, a young couple was bathed in happiness as their first born son was born. It was a very rare thing to see in the slums, not a child, but happiness. But here they were, a young and happy couple.

I, Leon, will make sure my child will be happy even in these hellish lands. I can't let this child get hurt. I watch as his cute and curious gaze glanced around the shabby room. I turned to my lovely wife, who was carefully cradling my newborn son in her arm. She could barely hold the tears that threatened to burst from her eyes and moment. Soon they gave out as my son burst into tears almost simultaneously.

I couldn't help but tear as I watched my first child's big eyes stare around the room. I had never complained to Leon about our living condition, but as I realized my child would soon have to grow in this kill or be killed area my heart lurched. Never the less it made me no less happy from seeing my child. I gave in to my emotions and burst into tears. Maybe my son felt it too as he burst out crying at almost the same time.

"Skyla, it's time to let the baby rest. I bet it was a tough time for him too."

My husband insists on me letting him rest. Being tired myself, I complied and quickly fell asleep on the straw bed with my child in my arms.
