Suddenly Clara came running and whispered something in Derek’s ear. Derek seemed a little shocked.
“Is it true?” he asked to be certain.
Clara nodded.
Derek seemed tense and serious.
“Levi, we should get going. If you get injured, you can come to Miss Lily for help,” Derek said.
“What happened? You look as if you’ve seen a ghost,” Levi said.
Derek said, trying to sound carefree, “It’s nothing. My party has received a special quest. I have to go with my party now. I’ll introduce you to my party later.”
Levi nodded.
“Bye, Miss Lily. Have a good day!” Derek said.
“I hope you won’t come with another serious injury again,” Healer Lily said.
Levi’s heart raced—what was Derek hiding?
Derek and Levi left the healer’s room.
“Listen Levi, in Avalon everyone earns their own keep. You have to learn how to survive here on your own. Consider it part of your training. If I survive I’ll come back and train you,” Derek said in a cheerful tone.
Derek gave Levi some silver coins and left.
Before leaving Derek said, “I’m giving these coins to you as loan.”
Levi was now on his own in an unknown and unfamiliar world.
“Ok, I’ll need some weapon first. Which weapons should I choose? I better choose one that will be safe to use. I should probably go to a cloth shop first,” Levi thought as he was looking around.
Levi went to the closest cloth shop. The shop owner didn’t take him seriously because of his dirty clothes.
“Hello, could you show me some clothes,” Levi said.
“Look around and buy what you want,” the shop owner said.
The shop owner looked like a middle-aged man with a kid’s voice.
Levi looked around.
“Oh, so the clothes are organized according to price range. The prices are also tagged on the clothes by magic. It won’t be hard to do shopping here,” Levi thought.
Levi saw a used clothes section. There “They are well cleaned with magic,” was written.
“Magic sure is handy. If I become a mage in the coming of age ceremony life will become much easier,” Levi thought.
Levi saw a robe that was unique and distinguishable from all the other clothes.

“That is my most prized item in this shop. I bought it from a high-ranking mage. It can shield you from magic attacks as well as swordsman attacks. As you can see its price is quite high, 50 gold coins. Good things cost more.”
“If I could buy it, it would be immensely helpful. It would be like having multiple lives. But the price is too high. I don’t have that many coins. Maybe nobles and royals buy this,” Levi thought.
After careful consideration Levi bought some clothes and a black robe that had water resistance. Levi bought the robe so that if his current body had enemies he could hide from their gaze.
The clothes and the black robe cost him 20 copper coins. Levi went to the changing room and wore his new clothes. While changing clothes Levi noticed that he was wearing a locket that had a blue crystal shaped like a crescent moon.
“What is this? Some kind of artifact or family heirloom? I should just keep it for now I’ll figure it out later.”
Levi left the cloth shop. Now it was time to visit his favorite shop. A weapon/shop. Levi found a good weapon shop. Levi didn’t go to the Avalon best weapon shop because there was no way he could afford anything there with the coins he had.
So he selected a weapon shop that looked good enough where he may find a weapon or two that he could afford. He entered the shop, the shopkeeper was muscular, with an eye patch. She had a lot of burn marks on her hands.
The shopkeeper was a lady in her early 40s. In spite of having so many scars and burn marks she looked like she came from a noble family. She looked like a cosplay model that everyone will be crazy about on modern earth.
“What’re you looking for boy? Are you lost?” the eye patch lady said in a cold voice.
“No… I’m not lost. I want to go to the forest to hunt some weak monsters. I’m looking for a weapon that I could use easily,” Levi said.
“Have you ever held a weapon before,” the eye patch lady said.
“Now that she mentioned it, I haven’t held a weapon before. But I was good at hitting targets at long range. Like archery, stone throw. Jessica, my neighbor and childhood friend did say I’m good at it.”
“I’ve used a bow before, I’m good at archery,” Levi said.
“You can use this bow as you can see it’s 50 gold coins,” the eye patch lady said.
“Show me something that is less costly, around 7 to 10 silvers,” Levi said.
“Then you can use this crossbow, someone sold it to me years ago, it’s 12 silver,” the lady said.
“All right I’ll take it. Do you have daggers?” Levi asked.
“Yes, here it’s 10 silvers,” the muscular lady said.
“I’ll take it as well,” Levi said in a happy tone.
After buying weapons with his limited coins Levi was now ready for the adventure. Levi started going towards the forest.
After reaching the forest Levi started to look for weak creatures to hunt.
Levi was hoping he didn’t face any dangerous monsters that he wouldn’t be able to handle. But the chances of encountering dangerous beasts were less since he wasn’t that deep in the forest.
“I wish I could hunt some slimes or goblins first like in the web novels. But I didn’t see or heard of any goblin or slimes after coming to this world,” Levi thought in his mind.
Suddenly Levi heard some noises coming from a short distance. Levi quickly hid in the bushes to avoid any danger and to surprise his prey. Levi’s eye sparkled when he saw a deer-like creature coming.
The deer-like creature had one black horn and another red horn. It had the eyes of a killer.
“It is what it is. At least it somewhat looks like a deer. If I can hunt it I wouldn’t need to worry about food for at least a week,” Levi thought in his mind.
Levi saw a bear-like monster eating grass, in a short distance. The deer-like monster’s horns glowed. The deer hit the bear at full speed with its horns. It made a big hole in the bear’s stomach. Blue color liquid started gushing out of the bear’s belly.
The bear died in a minute. The deer began to eat the bear. Levi didn’t move a muscle. He silently watched everything.
“Oh God! I shouldn’t have judged a book by its cover. This is totally different from what I imagined. It’s nothing like earth. I’m glad that I didn’t attack the deer. I need to be more careful from now on,” Levi thought.
The deer left after eating the bear. Levi just witnessed one of the most bizarre scenes in his life that he may never forget.
Levi decided to hide for a little while longer. He started exploring the forest again. He was resolved to find a prey. Levi didn’t want to go back empty handed.
