Chapter 1

  “There are 7 tiers of mana capacity, from worst to best these are:

  - Tier 7, No mana capacity: you are basically a normal person, you are forced to have at least one child with someone who has D grade mana capacity and have at least a total of 2 children if you can't care for those same children you can send them to an orphanage paid by the MGGB to be taken care of;

  - Tier 6, D class mana capacity: you have mana but can't use magic, are forced to have at least 1 child with someone who has no mana and at least 1 other child; this is also coincidentally the only Tier of people with mana that is able to have children.

  This tier is composed of 1 out of ten thousand people;

  - Tier 5, C class mana capacity: lowest mana capacity out of the ability holding tiers and will be able to cast magic, your ability will be pretty basic which is not to say weak, a strong C class Magical Guardians is said to be able to destroy cities.

  This tier is composed of 1 out of 1 out of hundred thousand people;

  - Tier 4, B class mana capacity: your ability is normally a stronger version of the basic ability of a C grade ability holder.

  For example, a known C grade ability is Fire Bolt, its B grade counterpart is Fireball; you also have double the amount of mana.

  This tier is composed of 1 in a million people;

  - Tier 3, A class mana capacity: you are the upgrade to a B class ability holder, following the previous example the upgrade to Fireball is Plasma Ray.

  As was the case before, you also have double the amount of mana of a B grade ability holder.

  This tier is composed of 1 out of ten million people;

  - Tier 2, S class mana capacity: you have multiple A class abilities, depending on the number you are subdivided in different tiers.

  S: 2 abilities,

  SS: 3 to 5 abilities,

  SSS: 5 or more abilities.

  Every one of these tiers has more mana than the last, specifically the number of abilities times the amount of mana an A class ability holder has.

  This tier is composed of 1 in fifty million people for S, 1 in hundred million people for SS and 1 in a billion people for SSS;

  Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation.

  - Tier 1, Hex class mana capacity: these peoples have completely unique abilities and have infinite mana.

  The trade off is that they can't learn spells, this is not a detriment though because their ability is extremely strong.

  Strong enough that in the final of last year's Magical Guardians tournament, for the bracket which consisted of Guardians between level 500 and 1000 a level 517 Hex class ability holder beat a level 943 SSS Class ability holder with 6 abilities.

  It is to note that the Hex class ability holder had an advantage since his ability was fire related and 4 out of the 6 abilities of the SSS class ability holder were Nature related.

  In a different scenario, where the SSS class ability holder wasn't so disadvantaged he would have won with near certainty.

  This is composed of about 1 out of a trillion peoples.”

  “Very good Miss Morewater, it's an A+.

  As always an excellent job, with both good memory and very good examples, this denotes a thorough research on the topic and a very good understanding of circumstances.”

  “Thanks Miss River.”

  “And with this we finished the last oral test before the Magical Guardians aptitude test.

  In an hour your final scores for every subject will be posted outside the school doors.

  Miss Morewater you can return to your seat.”

  Mei got down from the podium which she was standing on and returned to her seat.

  “Always the perfect one.”

  “She is from an orphanage doesn't she know her place.”

  Mei sighed her classmates were nobles of the backwater planet she was from and never liked her.

  The efforts she put into studying made it so they could never be open about it, since the empire governed by the MGGB is a meritocracy at least when it comes to schools.

  She always outshined them in school, and she needed to since the orphanage she was from burnt down while she was at school ten years prior.

  She had to rely on scholarships to survive.

  At last she is done and she can finally go find a job on another planet.

  With her scores it should be quite easy.

  “Class dismissed have a good work life all of you.

  It's been good teaching you.”

  Mei got up and went to have lunch in the cafeteria, where she took her usual order, a toast with orange juice and a piece of cheese.

  After having lunch she went to check her scores, like she expected she graduated with an A+ on every subject.

  She then went to her room to pack up and head to the Astral port, where the space ship that would bring their batch of students to their designated stadium for the Magical Guardians aptitude test which will take place in a week is docked.

  When she was done packing up she headed for the metro station under the school, from there she headed for the Astral port and boarded the space ship.

  She was one of the first people to arrive and she was directed to her room on the ship, she was also informed that the trip would take the entire week during which they were confined to their room for their safety.

  That wasn't a problem for Mei since she was not a very social person to begin with, even though she had a few that she hung out with regularly.

  She decided that she would study the material from the Magical Guardians academy that was made available to the candidates before being accepted, in doing so she could have a little headstart on the curriculum.

  The week-long trip was fine, there was nothing to either complain or be excited about.

  As they were now on the stadium's planet, they were made to disembark the ship and indicated to the stadium they would be evaluated in.

  Their belongings would be packed and brought to the ship that would be taking them to their next destination, that being their home planet or one of the academies.

  Once everyone was seated the announcer for this stadium started the ceremony.
