Nolan had buried her here.
The same person that brutally murders Kiel and Captain Richard. Could a person that cared enough to bury a body really turn into that kind of monster?
“She was the only person Nolan probably cared about“
Adam turned his head, he was still crouched beside the grave.
It was Kate who spoke, she was now standing behind Adam.
It's true, Beth was probably the reason why Nolan remained human, or at least almost like one. But now that she is gone Nolan probably doesn't have any reason to stay human as well.
And yet, strangely enough Adam still had his doubts, He knew Nolan first hand and if he was to be asked he would be sure that the person that killed Richard was a different person.
He doesn’t talk alot
He doesn’t laugh
He doesn’t even smile
But the man he saw then was different, he almost felt like he enjoyed tormenting them.
Adam was almost sure that Nolan only wanted Kiel but something inside him changed and he didn't have any idea what it was.
“What should we do?“ Kate asked.
“What do you mean? “
“If We saw Nolan and we had the chance would we-“
“I don't know, but what I'm sure is that we can’t let him hurt anyone else“
Kate nodded with understanding.
“So where is the fuel?” Adam asked as he stood up.
Kate led Adam inside the modular house, They entered what seemed Nolan’s room and Adam saw two tanks of lpg just beside his drawer.
“He keeps those in his room?“ Adam asked.
Kate replied with a shrug.
The two took one of each lpg and loaded it in the sidecar. After doing so Kate and Adam agreed to check around if they would find anything of use. Both of them searched around the yard and the house but even after a couple minutes of search they returned empty handed.
They decided that the tanks were plenty enough and that they should not stay any longer.
Kate was about to ride the bike when Adam stopped her.
“I’ll do it,“ he said.
“What about your hand?“
“It still hasn't healed completely but I don't really need two hands in driving do i?”
“Also, it's better than being left with my thoughts“
Kate sat by the side car along with the tanks to let Adam ride the bike.
Adam started pedalling through the yard. When they arrived at the gate Kate had to go down and open it in order to give way for the sidecar to pass. Adam passed through the gate with the bike. Kate then closed the yard's massive gate. She rode the side car as Adam continued to pedal their way towards Kiel’s house.
Kate one last look at the closed gate before she looked back at the front with a sigh.
The travel had significantly improved now that they had the bike, carrying the tanks would have consumed a great amount of time otherwise. Kate probably remembered about the bike and sidecar before they even left the house, Adam thought.
she doesn't really forget much.
…
The trip took them roughly half an hour before they could return home and just like earlier they didn't find any trouble on the road.
After arriving at the house Kate unloaded the tanks at the sidecar and placed it on the ground. Adam parked the bike just in front of the car and helped Kate to carry the tanks using his good hand.

Kate entered the house first she pushed the door and placed it on the empty sala.
Adam did the same, he noticed that the house had been cleaned by Althea but strangely enough she was nowhere to be seen.
After both of them placed the tanks they checked the rooms to see if Althea was in one of them.
But she wasn’t.
That moment a panic washed through Adam, what if Nolan had come here?
No, it was unlikely he didn't know about this location.
If not then what happened?
His mind was racing with possibilities and most of them weren’t good.
“Did you hear that?” Kate asked.
Adam was so occupied with thinking he didn't immediately realize what Kate meant.
He trained his ear to listen to the sound around him. It was then when he heard a low piercing sound, something sharp hitting a solid object.
Adam immediately tried to follow the noise, heading down stairs with Kate following him.
There it was again, it was getting louder and clearer each time. Adam figured that the sound was coming from the backyard. He pulled out his pistol in fear that a creature might have attacked Althea.
He stepped closer at the back door, his hand at its knob as he looked at Kate behind him.
Kate nodded and Adam pushed the door.
The early noon sunlight hit their eyes, it took Adam a few seconds to adjust to the brightness and when he finally did he saw Althea, alone, standing in the garden with a bow at hand.
She released the string and the arrow flew swiftly, hitting the trunk of the tree and bouncing off harmlessly to its thick bark.
She loaded another arrow and fired it again, this time it pierced the trunk, the consistent shot fired had stripped the wood and its bark in a specific location.
That moment she turned around and saw Kate and Adam watching him.
“You were already better than me,” Kate declared.
Althea shied away saying that she was just lucky. But Adam knew otherwise. She was able to strip the wood of its bark with accurate shots, which wasn’t an easy task, and judging by the arrows that lay scattered at the ground it took some tries before she succeeded.
Althea was practicing hard for something and Adam had a vague idea of what it was.
After Althea picked up the scattered arrows that lay on the ground Adam urged her to go inside to pack their things.
They must leave and get as much help they could need as soon as possible. The longer they wait the more danger the residents of the island face.
After discussing what they would do Althea and Kate started packing their things that they might need in the journey such as food , clothes and even weapons.
Adam on the other hand was tasked to set up the tanks to the car so they could leave as soon as possible.
Kate got out of the house carrying two bags of what Adam assumed was supplies.
She still had her rifle slung to her back despite it only having a few rounds left.
Behind her was Althea with her bow and a quiver filled with arrows that she said she found in one of the storage rooms as well.
Adam sat in the driver seat and Kate sat in the passenger seat while Althea made herself comfortable at the back seat.
Adam inserted the keys at the car, he twisted it and pressed the start. He feared that the car might not start but thankfully its engine hummed low. Adam then pressed the gas and the humming grew louder and fiercer vibrating through his body, he changed the shifter in to drive and started their long journey to Northdown.
Noon had turned evening and evening turned into a night.
Adam assumed it would take them at least another two to three hours before they arrive there, the brothers used horses and they had to find a place to sleep in the night so their travel took almost a day and a half
Also, he was driving decently fast, he could go faster but that might damage the car’s fuel lines by burning them. They can't afford such risk so he kept the speed in check without slowing down. During the entire time Kate was also awake, she was the one who knew the road. Before they left she memorized the map and routes that could get them to arrive at north down the fastest.
By the time midnight hits Adam noticed their surroundings changed, from old buildings, ruined houses and old roads to grassy terrain, trees and hills.
Kate told Adam to stop and part over the corner of the road. She explained that from here onwards they would have to walk. They woke Althea up, who was sitting in the back seat, still asleep.
After that all three of them left the car and started traveling by foot, each one carrying one of their supplies.
Adam used the flash light from his bag and led the way towards a hill Kate pointed at.
He wondered how she could even recognize the difference of the hills from one another; it all practically looked the same to Adam.
But then again he didn't have the memory similar to Kate.
The hill that they climbed was steep, but not steep enough to hinder them completely.
After a few minutes of hiking they arrived at the hill’s peak. The night’s breeze of wind hit Adam’s face, he admired his green surroundings under the clear and starry sky.
and just below the scenery, in one of the hills in front of them lay a village, surrounded with tall wooden walls, several touches lighting it and giving it an almost orange hue.
Adam sighed as they moved closer to the village hoping they would receive the help they urgently needed.
…
Back at Kiel’s old house shadows seemed to shift under the moon’s watch. Footsteps surround the house as a male figure steps forward.
The man stared at the house before entering it, pushing the broken door slightly, just enough to pass through.
The shadows were left outside, observing as to what was to happen.
The man inside moved with intent and familiarity, checking each room but not finding what he was searching for.
Finally he entered a room, smaller than the rest. The man realized that the house was recently clean, from the kitchen, the backyard and the rooms.
Someone had been here, he thought.
He stepped inside the small room and noticed a picture frame lying by the bed.
His eyes seemed to glow ominously green as he stared at the picture.
A happy family, he thought.
He dropped it to the floor and crushed it with his feet. Debris of glass shattered all over the floor.
It would be enough to signal them that he had been here- and that he would be waiting. Nolan thought as he saw his reflection from the broken glass, his horn have significantly grew longer and the patches of skin in his face was quickly eating away parts of his skin
He didn’t have the time,
he needed them to return as soon as possibls If they won't, he will come looking for them.
