Chapter 47: So That's How It Is
Cang Pu returned very late, after sending Cuini away, he received a call from Shen Long, saying he was at the bar. Originally didn't want to go, but feeling annoyed in his heart, he still went. He drank half a bottle of Maotai, and his heart became even more annoyed, so he slipped out halfway and drove around in this vast city, but didn't feel like going home.
Suddenly I find my own thoughts ridiculous. Before marriage, he never considered those dwellings as home, but now, he has a concept of home, only it's not a place that leaves a lingering aftertaste, but rather one that makes him want to escape.
The car stopped under an apartment building, he turned off the lights and leaned back in his seat, not wanting to move. After a while, there was a light knock on the window, he looked up and saw the person outside, and smiled.
"How did you end up here?" Mei Ying looked at him, she had just returned from outside and saw his car parked here from a distance, she thought she was mistaken, but it was true.
"I have nowhere to go..." Cang Mu got off the car, leaned against it, and gazed at Mei Ying on the other end of the car. Under the dim light, he smiled like a child.
"Go home!" She coldly threw down two words and turned her head without looking back, walking towards the apartment building.
"No home..." He muttered behind her, but she suddenly stopped in her tracks, turned around, looked at him, and a rare smile spread across her beautiful face.
"So you want to stay here with me?" she asked, her tone airy.
"Will you let me stay?" He looked at her, his lips still curled up in a smile.
"Of course..." She replied readily, reaching into her bag to grab the key and tossing it at him. "You go stay there, I'll head to Zifeng's place, anyway her house has been empty all along..."
She said, turned around and walked towards the outside of the residential area.
Cang Mu gazed at the key in his hand and smiled: "Mei Ying, I really like you..."
She stopped in her tracks, turned around and looked at him, also smiling: "I love you more..."
His smile grew wider as he walked up to her, gazing at her steadily: "Sorry..." He reached out and took her hand, placing the key in her palm, then turned around and got into the car. The engine roared to life, and the vehicle quickly vanished into the darkness of night.
Meiying stared blankly at the disappearing car tail for a long time, knowing all along that he wasn't the one in her heart, was he? As she turned around, she suddenly felt something unusual around her and immediately became vigilant. People in their line of work were always prepared to not see tomorrow's sun.
Soft music floated out of the house, this was what they called home, and in that home, there was her, but she didn't belong to him.
His footsteps didn't stop, wanting to go upstairs, but stopped again, walking quietly into the music room, looking through the open door crack, she sat on the floor with her hair scattered, wearing a pure cotton short-sleeved sleep dress, revealing white skin on her arms. Snow White was beside her, and she was scratching its head, the little guy comfortably closing his eyes to sleep.
The music was somewhat lively, he stood by the door and listened for a while, one song ended and started again, but it was still this one.
A certain city, a certain street, a certain small alleyway
One evening, a faint light in an attic
Someone quietly closed a certain window in his heart
Goodnight to no one
It's been ages since I've seen you
The bed is desolate as if there were no borders.
Insomnia is an endless wandering on the pillow
The sky will never be bright
I don't want to think about his appearance
I don't want to lean on his shoulder with his arm lightly around mine
I don't want him to kiss me on the face
Make forever sound like a grain of sugar
He suddenly burst out laughing, I don't want to think about it, I don't want to think about his appearance...
So that's how it is.
