Chapter 20: Unfamiliar ceiling

Soon enough we were able to arrive at E-mart.

Me and Temuulen were right at the front door.

I observed my surroundings to find Mergen and Anand but to no avail.

"C-can y-y-you let me go?" I looked at see Temuulen breathing like an asthma kid who needs his inhaler.

I took my hands off of his shoulder.

"Thanks." He said, still breathing like he has lung disease.

"Why are you so slow." I said.

"Probably because I don't do a lot of running or exercises in general!" He yelled.

  "Geez sorry dude." I scoffed.

He sighed with his hand on his head.

"Forget it, let's head inside. They're probably waiting for us right now." He said.

The door slid open and closed back behind us.

The market was bustling with people.

  Many kids roaming around.

Adults carrying huge bags or using the cart to move boxes of groceries.

  Entering and exiting the elevator.

Teenagers drinking coffee at the coffee shop.

"Lots of people here today." I said.

"Let's head upstairs. They should be there." Temuulen pointed at an escalator.

We used the escalator to get to the second floor and getting through the metal detector.

I looked around until I saw Mergen and Anand.

Mergen was carrying the shopping cart whilst Anand was checking the items.

"Why are we buying again?" Mergen said.

"I need clothes and other stuff for my little sister." Anand replied.

"Oh yeah, forgot lol. How's she doing though?" Mergen asked.

"She's doing fine and just attended kindergarten." Anand said.

"Huh, well good for her. But you better finish this fast because I'm dying for some fries." Mergen groaned.

"You guys run like animals." Temuulen came up behind them.

"Oh hey, took you long enough." Mergen replied.

"Mergen, be nice. Your always so cynical." Anand said.

"I am being nice." He replied.

Anand looked at Mergen with dark eyes.

Mergen glanced away, looking at the toy section.

"You want toys? I bet she'll love it." He said.

"I'm using my parents money so no." Anand replied.

  "My money." Mergen said.

Anand gazed at him with a suspicious glare.

  "Aren't you broke?" He said.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

"I rarely use my money anyway. But please buy something cheap, I don't have much money." Mergen said.

Anand laughed out loud as Me and Temuulen just watched.

"Aw is someone caring for someone." He said sarcastically.

  "Fuck you." Mergen said.

  ***

  Munch!

  Nom! Nom! Nom!

I shoved down the double cheeseburger right up my throat.

Pushing my fingers deeper into my mouth so it could fit.

Then I grabbed multiple fries and stuffed it right up my mouth.

Some nuggets, dipped it in sauce before shoving in my mouth again.

Then I tried shallowing it whole.

All the food traveled down to my stomach that I could feel it going in down.

  BURP!

"Oh my god! I almost died there! Oh wait..."

  BURP!

  "Sorry." I said.

Temuulen took a large bite out of the cheeseburger that some veggie and sauce came out in the back. Dirtying the table.

Whilst Mergen just kept on plucking french fries to the point it filled out his mouth.

And then he hold a ketchup packet and poured all of it into his mouth.

Anand was the only person on this table who actually had manner eating.

"Yo, can you help me with my homework please." I said.

  "No." Temuulen replied.

"Please! I beg of you!" I folded my hand, praying that he would give me his homework.

"No." He just kept on eating with even giving a single glance at me.

"I'll give you money! Uh 20000 tugrik!" I said.

"How about you actually do your homework yourself." Mergen said.

"Ironic. You never do your homework." I pointed my finger at him.

"Fair enough but I never asked for someone's help with homework." He replied.

"That's because you never do them in the first place!" I shouted.

  He just scoffed.

Oh this little bastard. He has to be the biggest idiot in the world and we're friends for that.

"Can you two stop arguing? Your making a scene here." Anand said.

I looked around me to see people near us was looking at us weird.

"He was the one who started this-"

I stopped as I saw Anand giving me a deathly glare. Telling me to shut my mouth.

I only had to comply but when I saw Mergen.

  He had a smug smile.

  This little gremlin.

  ***

The honking of cars and the rubber tires rolling on the ground was heard.

"Well you better take care. And you said you would give me your homework right?" I pointed both of my fingers at Temuulen.

"I never said that." He said.

  "Oh come on-"

  "No." He cut me off.

  I sighed and gave up.

"Heh, well I'll just go home then. Have a good day." I waved my hand before turning around.

"You better do you homework!" Mergen shouted.

I raised my hand and gave him a middle finger without even looking back.

I could hear him scoff before they left.

That little idiot always got to mess with us.

  ***

Before I knew it, I was already home.

I closed the door behind me and took off my shoes and jacket.

Seemed like no one was home yet.

  Mom always comes home late.

Though I do like being alone.

Tomorrows a big day so I have to sleep early today.

I headed to my bedroom, taking off my school uniform and changing into my clothes.

I then came inside the bathroom to wash my teeth.

Before I finally turned off the lights and laid upon my bed.

  And closed my eyes.

  ...

  ...

  ...

  I couldn't sleep.

I grabbed my phone beside me and opened a piracy website to read books.

The blue light covered my vision as I kept on scrolling through the chapters.

Those light began to tire my eyes.

  Burning even.

  My hands became weak.

I then saw darkness consume my vision.

But right after I saw a beam of light.

Almost as if the hand of god was reaching out to me.

I looked closer to the streaming light.

Trying to understand what that was.

Maybe it was from my phone that was still on of course.

If I want to sleep I couldn't let the glow bother me.

I tried my best to open my eyes.

But it felt like my eyelids were as heavy as a boulder.

But Slowly the glow grew bigger and brighter.

And only to see something I didn't recognize.

  "An unfamiliar ceiling."
