Boom!
Boom!
A stream of bullets exploded from my fingertips.
Considering my targets were completely stationary due to shock, the result was as expected.
The two remaining female members whose names I had not bothered comitting to memory were blasted by my spell.
In a different scenario, they would have been able to put up barriers to block or at least mitigate my attack.
But after having just seen their ally and presumably close friend be decapitated by a monster?
Their minds were in disarray, creating a prime moment for me to launch a sneak attack.
A sneak attack which had proven quite successful.
I was a little nervous, so I had not used my maximum power, rather just aiming to get the spell out quickly with a decent bit of power.
But even that was enough to do the trick, seeing as a massive hole was torn through each of their torsos.
Whatever could have remained of their insides were cooked by the heat of my fire element.
Flopping to the floor, they lacked even the ability to scream or turn around and see the face of the one who had just killed them.
Obviously, my actions were not done in silence, and so the whole party turned around to my direction.
"Wha-"
Before they could even begin questioning what I had done, I decided to deal with the lower rank weaklings.
'There's no need to go big with these guys.'
"Dirty Magic Bullet."
A slightly altered version of the magic bullet circle, one designed for maximum casting speed, appeared on my finger.
I lazily lifted my arm, pointing at the poor adventurers in front of me, and began my full auto fire.
"Wait, stop!"
I shut out whatever cries they had from my mind, focusing only on leaving no survivors.
Fwing!
It seemed at least one was quick on the uptake, as I noticed an archer aiming an arrow and firing at me.
"Still, it's just a regular arrow."
A magic bullet met the arrow, changing the trajectory of the arrow away from me.
I flicked my finger towards the terrified archer, and so he too fell helplessly.
Within less than ten seconds, only one adventurer remained.
Flight stared at me with a terrified expression.
I had expected that he'd try make some valiant last stand, or curse me out, or something of the sort.
It seemed that his attack 'sunset' had taken more out of him than I had expected, since right now, he clearly lacked the energy to attack me.
'Probably his trump card.'
Over the next few seconds, his expression transformed in a multitude of ugly ways, as if going through the stages of grief.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
He briefly looked behind him, gazing upon the remaining legs of one teammate.
Then, he diverted his attention to the crispy bodies of his other two.
"Honestly, seeing you acting like this makes me feel bad... A fight would be better, you know? At least then it's self defense, or something like that."
At my words, he snapped out of his daze.
I could only wonder what kind of state he was in, having what seemed to be all three of his lovers die in pretty much a thirty second timespan.
"I guess I should've known better."
"Hm?"
His face bore a hollow smile.
"You know, I wasn't going to try kill you, or even cripple you like what that guy had said, I was just gonna rough you up a little, you know? But now I get why he wanted you gone."
I remained silent, curious as to what he was going on about.
"Whatever nonsense you said earlier, It was a damn lie, right? You saw through it all so easily, didn't you?"
"You could say that."
"They were all so excited when I mentioned that there was a chance for us to get into a guild, even if it was through a rather strange manner. We had been working so hard to be noticed-"
Annoyed by the melancholic speech, I interrupted with my own thoughts.
"That guild doesn't seem particularly impressive, to be honest. And anyway, if those guys do shit like this on the regular, I'm sure one day or the other you and your party would've ended up dead in a ditch for some nonsensical reason."
His eyes shook for a moment at my words.
"Is this your way of comforting me after slaughtering the ones I call my family?"
"Whatever, continue."
"No, it doesn't matter... There's no use in my continued living anymore, so... just finish me off, I don't even have enough mana to properly fight you..."
It was a pathetic end, but I had no reason to argue against his request.
He closed his eyes in resignation, and I began forming a powerful bullet that would take him out instantly.
"I'll be with you three in heaven now."
Bang!
Flight's head was completely destroyed by a blast of magical energy, instantly killing him.
Hearing his last words, I felt a little annoyed.
"Everyone seems to think they're a hero, I guess."
He had spewed some nonsense about how he wouldn't hurt me that much or whatever, but at the end of the day he was wiling to most likely cripple a teenager if it meant advancing his career.
I didn't feel bad at all about killing him and his party.
Honestly, if anything I felt regret that I had wasted my time concoting a plan to fool him.
If I had known a mimic was going to show up and provide me such a grand opportunity, I would have been able to skip that whole process.
Looking at the bodies strewn across the dungeon tunnel, I felt a little pity to the innocent adventurers I had killed.
'Wrong time, wrong place.'
Still, it had to be done.
If I had left them alive after killing Flight's party, I would surely be exposed for my deeds after leaving the dungeon.
I didn't have any concrete proof of the plot on my life, so I had pretty much no defense against the testimonies of nearly a dozen adventurers.
"Right then, wonder if anything is still in tact."
There was no point checking the bodies of the lower ranking guys, but Flight and his party were C rankers, so they had a chance of having some equipment.
I began with Flight's body, although I had to step back and compose myself after smelling his seared flesh.
It seemed his only pieces of equipment were his sword and armor.
The armor held no magical properties, simply being a well crafted armor.
I had no interest in a heavy full plate armor, so I left it.
His sword on the other hand seemed to be a little more interesting.
"Hm, it's too flashy."
My current sword was quite unimpressive, which was fitting seeing that I barely used it.
His sword shined golden with various jewels embedded in the pommel and hilt.
In addition, it was significantly longer than my blade, a change that would cause me some problems.
Despite being C rank, it didn't seem to be all that useful for me.
"It's a dud, I guess."
Even if I did want to use it, it was too recognisable for me to use without attracting suspicion by those who recognised its old owner.
Looking at the corpses of the two women I had shot, I inspected their fingers and necks to look for any pieces of equipment.
One woman wore a necklace embedded with sapphires, which upon analysis seemed to have an effect of increasining mana capacity.
"Couldn't be more useless."
As for the other, she wore a small hairpin...
Which had the effect of straightening her hair out.
Looking over at the bisected corpse of the mimic, I saw... bits of the third woman leaking out.
'Not worth it.'
The smell of cooked human flesh was already troublesome, I wasn't about to go ahead and wade through human mincemeat to try and find a ring or necklace.
Seeing the unsatisfactory findings, I decided to be done with the situation.
A small worm appeared in my hand, and it seemed that he had already started salivating, seeing as I could feel his hunger.
"Go ahead."
And so, the first party I had ever joined was gobbled up by a hungry worm.
