The Sins of the King

  Omega Genesis...

An advanced magical technique that allowed a mage to create a personalized world, often a reflection of their ideals and their power.

It was a manifestation of their worldview merged with their ability. Anyone who entered the mage's world would be an immediate subject to the effects of their power.

The effects varied depending on the mage's ability.

Some worlds were beautiful and serene, while others were dark and chaotic.

Some worlds enhanced the mage's allies, while others weakened their enemies.

Some worlds were simple, while others were complex and unpredictable.

To pull their targets into their world, the caster's target had to be within visual range. As long as the target was visible and within range, they could not escape being a subject to Omega Genesis.

But as one would expect, this technique required immense magical proficiency, a huge amount of mana and a lot of stamina.

It was one of the most powerful and rare techniques in magecraft.

Because it drained the mage's mana and stamina, it was usually used at the beginning of a fight, or as a last resort.

A flash of light blinded Reinhart and the others. When they opened their eyes, they were greeted by a horrifying sight.

A world that had been ravaged by war. The sky was dark and stormy. Buildings were crumbling and burning. Dust and smoke filled the air. This was Kai's world. A broken world.

Lian’s voice cracked. “H–how is this possible? He shouldn’t even have the stamina for this!”

Reinhart clenched his teeth, every muscle trembling from exhaustion. His legs quivered under his weight, but he forced himself to stand tall. “This is bad… he’s experiencing an outburst.”

His knees buckled for a moment before he steadied himself with a ragged breath. “I don’t have much strength left,” he muttered, gasping as sweat streamed down his face.

Levi’s gaze darted around their warped surroundings, “How? How's he doing this?”

“There’s no other explanation,” Layla said tightly as she stepped forward, her tone grim. “When people are on the edge of death, their minds relive their lives in flashes—like a desperate search for survival.”

  Lian swallowed hard. “Fast-forward memories…”

Layla nodded. “But for powerful bearers, it’s different. Their instincts trigger something far greater—a surge of energy that can completely turn a battle.”

“Like an adrenaline rush…” Lian whispered, rising unsteadily from Garrion’s side.

Layla’s expression hardened. “If that’s really what’s happening—no, it has to be—then we can’t waste time. Reinhart is already at his limit.”

Before she could move, a searing agony ripped through their skulls. The students dropped to their knees, clutching their heads, shrieking as though needles were stabbing into their brains.

Lian gasped through the pain. “Wh–what the hell is this?”

Purple veins crawled across Riley and Layla’s faces, spreading toward their eyes.

Then a voice echoed directly inside their minds—low, cold, and unrelenting. “You have no business here. This is between me and your so-called King.”

“Kai…” Lian whispered, her eyes wide.

Levi forced himself up despite the pain, shouting into the void. “What do you even want?! Why go this far—just to make people suffer? For what?!”

“Levi, stop!” Kyle grabbed his shoulder, but Levi tore himself free, eyes burning with frustration from all the events so far.

  “This isn’t the time Le—”

“Why go this far?” Kai’s voice cut him short. His tone “Why am I going this far?” His face twisted with rage.

He slammed his fist into the ground, making it tremble. “Because I’ll do anything to make him pay for his sins!”

Reinhart froze, stunned. His face went blank in confusion, as if someone had just accused him of a crime he couldn’t even comprehend. “What…? What are you—”

“Don’t you dare pretend!” Kai’s voice roared, silencing him. His chest heaved with rage, eyes burning with tears. “What infuriates me the most is that he doesn't even remember!”

He looked up, trembling, and his voice cracked as he screamed at Levi. “And you know what they call people like him?! Heroes!” He jabbed a finger at Reinhart.

“And let me guess…” He let out a hollow, bitter laugh. “I’m the monster here? The villain...”

“Where were you judges when your so-called heroes abandoned me? When they turned their backs on me when I needed them most?”

Levi’s lips parted, but no words came. His voice froze in his throat.

“Answer me!” Kai’s voice dropped to a whisper, shaking. “Protect the weak… that’s what you preach. But in the end, you branded me a monster.”

His expression twisted, tears spilling down his cheeks. “Because you feared my power. Because I made a mistake.” His voice cracked into a fragile whimper. “I was just a child…”

Reinhart stared at him, dumbfounded. He couldn't make sense of his words and he still couldn't remember who he was despite trying his best.

Kai’s body shook as he sobbed openly now, every word drenched in rage and sorrow. “And as if that wasn’t enough—your King, your precious Protectorate’s crown—he killed my only family!”

He lifted his gaze, eyes locking onto Reinhart. “You took Leo and Zack from me!”
