20 - Now that is over.

The Fae feeling relaxed and safe, starts forming small balls of pure magic within the stomachs of his audience. During the first one the concentration makes his music falter for a second, but after that he gets into a rhythm.

  —--

The portal closed and with bang,

They all landed in pile with a clang,

Quickly they stood and looked around,

No trace of the portal could be found,

A cheer was released with great joy,

They had successfully stopped the Demons ploy,

Surprised that they hadn’t been stopped,

In celebration more than one of them hopped,

They checked their surroundings to make sure,

That the Demon presence wasn’t any more,

With the knowledge they’d killed all that were here,

They regrouped now without any fear,

After collecting their breath they started walking,

Between them not one of them started talking,

Enjoying the peace that followed the task,

A beautiful state in which they gladly did bask,

Quickly the time passed and they arrived back,

Ready to report and grab a hot snack,

With food in their bellies and their throats wet,

Their next destination was clearly set,

To the Mayor they went and reported,

That the portals magics had been aborted,

The runic circle had cracked from the icebloom,

  Heralding the portals immediate doom,

The Lovers each got a small box for their reward,

The Mayor apologising it was all he could afford,

They opened the boxes for a quick glance,

Causing them both to squeal and prance,

Happy in what they had both gained,

Off they ran so only the Hero and Mayor remained,

To our Hero he passed a letter of recommendation,

  Accompanied by excessive laudation,

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

The Mayor thanked him over and over,

Glad of the end of the Demon pavlova.

The Hero turned and went to leave,

Until he felt a tug on his sleeve,

The Mayor was standing there with another request,

And the hope our Hero would accept the towns crest,

To enrol with the Towns defensive guard,

With his skills the job wouldn’t be hard,

The pay would be good and colleagues cheerful,

It would make everyone a lot less fearful,

Yet he decided to deny this offer,

Even if it would inflate his coffer,

As all he wanted to return to his own place,

Surrounded by those that knew his face,

So with letter in hand he said his goodbye,

Leaving the Mayor shouting out another try,

Saying farewell to the lovers and buying some food,

He felt himself suffer a melancholic mood,

While his time here wasn’t that long,

His bonds with people were quite strong,

He will miss every one of them he’d had met,

He’d never forget them, he was willing to bet,

So after checking the libraries maps for directions,

He once more past the guardhouses inspections,

And off he walks with a destination in mind,

Wondering what at the Academy he would find,

Thoughts of Wizards of immense power came unbidden,

And everything else the future would have hidden,

Someone was following him without his knowledge,

To a task of surveillance they had made a pledge,

Following our Hero and keeping an eye,

From the ground and up in the sky,

Far off a crow watched him walk,

An unheard message was sent with a squawk.

  —--

The Ladies waited for a reply,

Watching the clouds in the sky,

The Courts never did anything with speed,

So patience was a continuing need.

While they waited they went back,

To the other tasks they could attack.
