Vol.6 Ch.360 Rya Can Understand “Every” Language

Rya walked over to the mothers and saw her new friends gathering around one young woman who looked dead tired.

"Lady Katie Clements! Oh, my Goddesses! You look... Great—I think..." Julia Dusker said.

'Great job, Jules. Really. Just y on the salt...'

The woman named Katie Clements was dressed in a lovely dark green and bck dress that complemented her brown hair and eyes. Her face was tired, and if it wasn't for her makeup everyone would have seen dark circles under her eyes.

"Huh?... Oh, Lady Julie, Lady Serena, Lady—"

Katie was cut off when her one in a half month old started crying again. It made most of the dies around her cooed at the baby, while Menie Ingham winced. But Rya halted in her tracks and froze like a statue when she heard the baby. Her long ears seemed to twitch as a perplexed look formed on her face.

Nieren noticed her sister's strange reaction and turned to her, "Rya?"

Rya snapped out of her trance looked at Nieren to see if heard what she heard.

  "Did you hear that?"

"What?" Nieren responded with a confused look of her own.

Rya noticed this and looked around at the other girls who were acting like they didn't heard the tiny sad voice of that baby saying words as clear as day.

'D-Do... Do they not hear that baby saying prefect English?... I mean! Standard... God, I'm still not used to this world's nguage. I guess I have those two idiot goddesses to thank for giving me a skill to understand every son this pnet—'

It was then that it hit Rya like a ton of bricks. With the passive ability Nils gave her when she was teleported on Tertius, she can understand and speak in every nguage on this pnet. And it hit her that it literally means every single nguage, including baby babble.

'Oh, you got to be shitting me! I can fucking understand babies?'

Rya perplexed look gave way to a smile, as she chuckled to herself. 'Well, I feel like an idiot... I'm gd I'm not going crazy. Maybe that's why I didn't hear the crying from before entering the party, because they sound like they are talking. I guess it's good to know, but I'm not sure how helpful it's going to be to understanding a baby...'

She looked at her sister who raised a brow. "Sorry... I thought I heard the baby saying words. I thought that child was a prodigy or something," Rya chuckled.

Nieren gave her a ft look, "You thought you heard a child, a baby no less, saying words? Like what?"

Rya gave a nervous chuckle and stretch the back of her head, "I thought it said 'belly' and 'hurt' but it was my imagination."

Nieren just sighed, "Don't tell me you are crazy about babies now." She said in a teasing manner.

"Me? Pfft!... I would rather deal with children over—"

"Belly!... Hurt!" Cried the baby as Katie groaned and tried comforted her child.

Rya didn't know why but her heart ached for the baby, like an instinctual motherly urge to help and comfort the baby.

'Okay! So, maybe I'm a little more sensitive to babies now that I'm a woman. But I can control myself. It's not my kid—'

Julie Dusker, who had no tact, decided to be helpful by taking the baby boy from Katie and clumsily cradling him in her arms, rocking him.

"Shh! Shh! Little one. It's okay."

Katie would have had a problem with the dy doing this, but she was a little too exhausted from sleep deprivation to care at the moment.

The baby began crying even more, his face all red and wet with tears and snot. I was really bugging Rya that Julie couldn't understand why the baby was crying.

'Oh my God! It's not a riddle! No, no. It's not her fault. They doesn't understand him like I can. But it's obvious he's starving. But I wonder why he's hungry? I mean, shouldn't this Katie be nursing him or has a wet nurse if she can't feed him? Hmm... I feel I'm missing something,' she thought.

Nieren sighed at her sister's weird behavior, "Hey Rya, are you sure not fawning over a baby now? I mean, you've been staring at this one for a while."

Rya snapped out of her thoughts and blinked. "Uh... Y-Yeah... It just seems that the baby is a little malnourished. And I'm trying to figure out why. She's a Minor Noblewomen, so it would seem to reason that the mother has a wet nurse, right?"

Nieren sighed and smirked, "It must be the healer side of you. You can't help but feel the need to help those in need. But I think I recall this Katie Clements as one of Leandra's allies. Be careful. She may not have the best intentions."

It was Rya's turn to give her sister a smirk, "I have three daughters of noble families that have become my friends, Nier. And..." She looked at Katie who was in a haggard state and saw some red particles floating around inside her head and bosom. This girl wasn't doing so hot and probably wasn't in the mindset to undermine her.

"... And I see this poor girl needs a generous hand more than anything. That seems to be something that Leandra isn't doing."

Rya then slowly walked up to the group of women.

'Well?... Ry has a knack for figuring out people. But I'll watch her back just in case.'

As Rya got close to the group of noblewomen, Katie hadn't noticed that the Dark Elf had become friends with her friends and acquaintances. She was oblivious as she watched Julia making things worse as her son cried more and more.

"It seems the child doesn't like you, Julia. Are you sure you know what you are doing?" Menie Ingham asked in a ft, unamused tone.

"I-I don't think I did anything wrong? Usually babies love me!" Julia stuttered out as she tried bouncing the baby son in hopes that would help soothe him. But he kept on crying, much to her surprise.

"Julia? He's crying because he's hungry," Rya said as she came closer and stood next to the group.

Most of the girls were impressed if Rya was correct, while Katie slowly turned to see who it was, and when she id eyes on the Dark Elf, her expression went pale, and she nearly fell back in fear.

'Wah!? W-Why is she here?... I mean! I know that she's here at the party, but why is she associating with a bunch of lower sociality women, like us!? We're not important enough for her schemes! My ck of sleep must be getting to me. I can't believe I didn't see her coming!'

Katie Clements did her best to hide her fear, and being tired, she wasn't at the top of her game. So the young noblewoman ended up looking like a fool in front of the others.

"How do you know that the baby is hungry?" Jenelle Dravenhart asked out of genuine curiosity.

Rya paused for a brief moment before she came up with a pusible reason that didn't involve the truth, "I... Uh. My ears are stronger than the other races, and I can hear this poor guy's grumbling stomach."

All the dies seemed impressed as they looked at each other and nodded, except for Katie who was frozen stiff.

"I knew elven ears were sensitive, but that's on a level that I couldn't imagine," Constance Montcir commented while looking at the crying child.

"It must be a blessing and a curse, Princess Rya. How do you deal with the noise?" Jenelle continued.

Rya shrugged, "You get used to it. But I can hear a lot of things."

The baby continued to cry, and Rya couldn't take it anymore as her maternal instincts kicked in. But she didn't want to seem desperate as she carefully walked up to Julia and held her hands out, "Let me have a look at him."

Katie wanted to tell no, however, her body froze as she watched Julia hand the boy over.

'What's wrong with me? I know the stories. Why can't I speak?... Wait a minute! It has to be the magic she uses! It's causing me to be petrified in fear. Y-Yeah. That's it! She's done something to me. But what can I do?'

Katie was under the delusion that the dark elf had put a spell on her. When really, the young dy was just being a coward and her exhaustion made it worse.

Rya took the baby and started rocking him.

"Shh. Shh. You're alright, sweetie. You're hungry aren't you," Rya said to the baby who cried faded but it was clearly still unhappy as it made some gibberish baby noises. It was only a few words that only the Dark Elf could understand, but it was enough for her to understand that there's a problem with Katie or her situation.

While cradling the baby who was making sad sopping noises, Rya gnced at Katie, seeing all the red particles floating around in her body. On top of the two areas she saw before, she noticed two different ones. First was these strange burgundy-red particles that were located in her bosoms. It wasn't obvious to see them at first with the normal red particles. But after Rya focused her vision a bit more, it was clear what they were. Then the other area was her lower body in the pelvis.

'Hm?... She must be still recovering from childbirth. But these burgundy particles are interesting. I wonder what the hell is causing that?'

"Lady Katie is it? Are you having trouble feeding your child?" Rya asked, causing everyone to look at her.

Whatever fear Katie was experiencing was shattered with a motherly rage.

"Are you accusing me of being a terrible mother!?"

Nearly all the dies flinched from her shout.

Rya was unfazed and kept a straight face as she stared into Katie's eyes.

"I'm not judging your skills as a mother, Lady Katie. I am just asking because your child seems malnourished. I am just worried."

Aris Mardax jumped in as well, "I've never seen you get this angry before. Are you okay?"

Katie didn't know what to think or say, however, her anger quickly melted into defeat.

"I'm—I'm fine. It's just that I am still getting used to being a mother. I have been stressed and exhausted."

"With an outburst like that, it sounds like something else is wrong," Aris added.

Katie looked at Aris then turned her head to look at everyone else who was concerned for her well-being.

"Has something happened? You know we are all here to support you," Julia said.

The young dy's eyes were watering and her bottom lip quivered a bit.

"I'm sorry everyone. I am just a mess. There is a lot that's been going on tely."

Rya's face softened a bit, "It's fine. If you're not comfortable talking about it, I understand."

Katie didn't know why but she needed to get her problems off her chest, even though her Ally's enemy was standing before. Rya genuinely was willing to listen to her, unlike Leandra who shooed her away once she arrived at the party. And Katie couldn't help but want to talk to her about her problems.

"I don't even know where to start."

Rya gave her a sympathetic smile, "You can start by telling us what's wrong. We'll listen."

"Well..." Katie took a deep breath and sighed, "It's just... My life has changed so much over the st couple of months..." She paused for a moment, "Ever since my son was born, my husband's finances have gone downhill. He said that a deal with the Duke hasn't gone to pn and we needed to cut back on our spending."

Everyone was silent as they listened.

"I haven't seen my husband very often, he's been busy trying to fix the problem. And he hasn't spent much time with me or our son, Liam. I tried asking him about it, but he keeps telling me that things will turn around," Katie continued.

"How long has this been going on?" asked Julia.

"Ever since my son was born... about a month ago."

If Rya had an attenna on her head, it would have gone off at that statement.

'Something doesn't add up here. There is more going on than the young Lady is saying. If I can find out what it is, maybe I can use it against Aric—No! No... Her child's heal is more important than getting a little information on Aric. She's a person and not a pawn.'

"I'm sorry you have to go through this," Aris said sympathetically.

"Me too," Rya added, "But what does your husband do for a living? Maybe there is a way we can help him get back on his feet."

Katie gave Rya a small smile, "That's very kind of you, but I doubt you would be able to help. We are on the Revelia's side. I'm assuming you wouldn't want to help us if you knew."

Rya gave the young Lady a sly smirk, "Listen... I may have my issue with the Duke and Duchess, but that doesn't mean I would leave you hanging. You are a mother who just had a child. That's no small feat, and I would never turn my back on someone in need. Especially if it is a honest young mother."

"I agree," said Aris, "You have our support. Whatever we can do to help, let us know. We'll do whatever we can."

Katie wanted to deny Rya's offer because she worried that she was only offering because she would use her, like the other nobles, but she had a feeling that this wasn't the case. Rya was always willing to help those who needed it, regardless of the circumstances.

  "You really want to help?"

"Yes," Rya said firmly, "I just was surprised that your son isn't getting enough nutrients when you are a Minor Noble. So please tell me what is wrong, and I promise that I'll help you."
