Chuck was still in the middle of the crowd. Asking questions of the FBI agent, Ellen. It was too far away to pick up anything, Ellen’s cries made it obvious that Chuck was not being gentle. The rest of the crowd had backed away from Chuck and was simply watching.

  Colin’s heart pounded as he stared daggers at the man who hurt his family so much. He was trying to hold himself back for Kristy and Jenny’s sake, there was so much inside of him that screamed for retribution. He looked to his side, met Kristy‘s gaze, and through his feral teeth, he growled, “I’m not sure I can hold back.”

  Kristy didn’t look away when she said, “If he comes for Jenny, don’t you dare hold back.”

  The way she said that snapped Colin out of his rage a bit. What was more important? Taking revenge right now or making sure his family was safe. If it came down to doing both, Colin was all for it, but if he did something reckless right now, and his family paid for it, he would never forgive himself. He took a deep, stuttering breath then another, and another until his breathing evened out, and he gained control of himself.

  Chuck turned his attention from Ellen and picked up the loudspeaker as he looked around the crowd and spoke to them, “I’ve accomplished what I came here for, but I say look around at all of you, I see so much potential. I am the next step of humanities evolution. Currently, I can hold four forms and even combine them. This is something that far exceeds anyone who has come before. I’m at the pinnacle of the next step of evolution for us humans. I can feel it within all of you as well. I want to congratulate you. I can tell you’re suppressing your potential right now. All of you. I can help you reach the next steps. I can help make you something more and bring out your true potential.”

  “Don’t listen to him!” Kristy shouted, “He’s a fucking psycho that kidnapped my family. His assistant is the one who did this to all of you. They’ve hurt everyone here!”

  The crowd of awakened murmured, and as Kristy finished speaking, they were getting angry.

  “I thought I told you not to interfere,” Chuck said to Kristy through the loudspeaker, “Alright then, I’ll use you to demonstrate that my words are more than just bluster.”

  Chuck charged towards Kristy and knowing that his family was in danger, Colin didn’t have a single thought of holding back.
