Chapter 14 : sorry

  A gasp.

Not a small sound. A great, tearing, desperate intake of air, the kind that sounds less like breathing and more like coming from the edge of death The golden chest beneath Suzie's hands heaved upward with sudden, violent force. She pulled her hands back instinctively and sat up straight.

And then the tiger began to change.

It started with the sound. A deep, resonant cracking — not the sound of breaking, but of shifting, of architecture rearranging itself under pressure, bone and structure finding new configurations with a series of sharp reports that echoed off the cave walls like a conversation conducted in a language of impact. The golden fur rippled. The shape beneath it moved — contracted, expanded, stretched in directions that did not correspond to the shape of a tiger.

Suzie watched it happen and did not look away.

She had expected something, some part of her mind told her later. She had known, on some level, since the moment she heard him speak.

The transformation was not graceful. It was not cinematic. It was effortful and physical and raw — a body arguing with itself and winning, rebuilding itself from the blueprint of something different, the golden coat receding, the shape below it rising, the enormous paws reshaping themselves from the ground up.

  And then it was over.

Where the golden tiger had been, a man lay on the cave floor.

Mrita's stone-throwing hand dropped started to stare at transformation

Gill's phone flashlight swung toward the transformation without his fully meaning to direct it there, then immediately swung back toward the wolf as his brain reminded him that there was still a very present and immediate problem on the other side of the cave.

*"Suzie."* The voice was rough, scraped thin by whatever the last several hours had put it through, but it was a human voice. His eyes found her face in the torchlight. *"You're here."*

*"You're alive,"* Suzie said. Her voice was completely steady, which cost her something.

The transformation is of judo He stood up slowly. He looked across the cave at the wolf — which had slowed its advance toward Mrita and Gill, distracted now by the noise and the light and the shifting dynamics of a situation that had become considerably more complicated than a smell of blood.

  Suzie looked at him.

*"Hunt that wolf,"* she said. Not a request.

He moved across the cave with a speed that was not entirely comfortable to watch — not quite human-fast, something with more certainty in it than ordinary movement, the directness of someone whose body remembered how to be something else and hadn't fully let the memory go. He crossed the distance to the wolf in seconds, drew back his fist, and delivered a single punch to its stomach with the focused force of someone

  The wolf left the ground.

It hit the cave floor roughly two meters away with a sound like something very large disagreeing with physics, scrambled upright, looked at Judo with an expression that even a wolf's face could communicate clearly, and ran. Back toward the cave entrance, , out into the darkening forest beyond without a backward glance.

  The cave went quiet.

Gill stood against the wall with his remaining stones still in his hand, staring at knight with the particular expression of a young man who has just witnessed something extraordinary and is also suddenly aware that the person who did it is standing there without any clothes on. He turned his face very deliberately toward the cave wall and kept it there.

Mrita pressed her lips together very hard to keep her expression appropriate.

*"knight,"* Suzie said, already moving back toward Knight, who was sitting up now, reaching for the blood packet with hands that shook slightly, lifting it to his lips and drinking what remained at the bottom with the focused single-mindedness of someone who needed it badly.

Suzie explained everything about Knight the day he saved her and how he came here but she took a promise not to tell this to anyone from Gill and mrita

Across the cave, Knight lowered the empty packet and looked at Suzie.

Mrita said to Suzie to give him some dress as she is not comfortable in seeing adult male naked

Then Suzie takedown her jacket and Gill is stunned by seeing Suzie on half sleeves but it costed his pant Suzie asked Gill to give his pant for Knight he can't refuse her so he gave his pant to Knight.

The colour had returned to his face. His eyes were clear. The shaking in his hands had almost stopped.

*"You came,i thought i am finished"* he said.

Suzie said " sorry " for leaving knight alone at home

Gill and mrita started to talk that we have to find a way for him to send back to his city after hearing what all Suzie said .

He looked at the empty blood packet in his hands, then back at her. Something moved across his expression that was too complete to have a single name.

Outside the cave, the mountain was slipping into darkness. The police team was still somewhere below them on the trail. The wolf was gone. The forest was breathing.
