2 weeks later, Bridgette sits at Charlie's bedside looking at his peaceful face. She wonders when he will wake up, and if he will recognize her. Will he treat me like a mother? What if him not waking up for a whole month and has scrambled his little brain! She began to lose herself to her thoughts until Gustav placed his hand on her shoulder. She jumped slightly in fright and a light red burn crept onto her face. “HEY JERK! Don't sneak up on me like that!” She says a little bit too loudly, and it causes Charlie to stir. They both freeze in place and the whole house seems to quiet down. The small baby rolls over and his eyes open sleepily.
When Bridgette saw her baby move she began to cry ugly tears. She slides down to her knees and bawls like a child. “I'M SO HAPPY -..... MY BABY IS FINALLY AWAKE -.... As she cries on the floor, Gustav bends down and looks into the child's face. His eyes are Grey, just like Bridgette said. However Gustav doesn't dwell on such a small detail and gently picks up the child. “Hello Charles, I am your father. I am Gustav.” He says quietly as he looks at the child. Charlie looks at him with a blank expression. Inside Charlie's head he is looking at this giant person with confusion. “Who the hell do you think you are calling yourself my daddy? Hang on, where am I?” He begins to look around at the small but warm and comfy cottage. He looks his father up and down, then he looks over to the sobbing women on the ground. Suddenly he hears the man say “Bridgette he's looking at you!’ he says quickly. The woman's cries immediately stop and her teary red eyes shoot up and lock into Charlie's. When Charlie looked into her bright green eyes a flash of remembrance hit him hard. Big bright green eyes, a dark void and a flashy man in a white suit. And only 3 words echo in his mind. “Kill the Devil Lord.” Bridgette quickly gets to her feet, almost falling back over; she quickly swipes the child from Gustav's hands and nuzzles her soft cheek against his. “Hello little Charlie! I am your mother, you really had me worried about you.” She said along with happy giggles. Charlie looked to his dad with a helpless expression, and the only thing Gustav could do was sigh and shrug his shoulders.
A few days after Charlie woke up, they realized that Charlie was way too intelligent for his age. He was already crawling and trying to stand steadily on his legs. And what was even more worrying, he hasn't cried once since he was born. Every time he would fall, he wouldn't even flinch. It was like he didn't feel any pain.
Soon, they kept their promise to Bridgette's family and took the child to see his grandparents, aunts and uncles. Bridgette Northwater is the first daughter of the only son of Cardinal Northwater. Bridgette's family rules over and protects the City of Enlightenment Uriel and has done so for hundreds of years. When all of his relatives saw the small child awake and mobile, they were all extremely happy and excited. Especially Reginald and Cathrine, he was their first Grandchild and he was adorable. Reginald had already told them about his weird eye color so they weren't surprised when they saw it. However that didn't stop them all from looking. Each one held Charlie up to the light of a torch and tried to see his eyes. When Charlie would close them, they would lightly pull apart his eyelids to see into them. Soon someone cast a large ball of pale light into the room, lighting up the whole room. When Charlie saw the light, his eyes sparkled and gazed at it in wonder. When they were all satisfied, Charlie took refuge in his Father's arms because it seems that this man is the only one who won't pull him apart. When Gustav saw his son crawl over to him for him to pick him up, his heart swelled with pride and affection. He vowed to himself that he would never let this child go and never let anyone take him from him. That was until 5 minutes later when Bridgette demanded it was her turn with him. He then had to give up the child with a bowed head.
They stayed at the Northwater manor for 2 days and on the second day, they had a big feast to celebrate Charlie's birth and his awakening. “Little Charles is surely developing quickly.” Said Cardinal Peter Northwater, Bridgette's grandfather. “Even with a month of sleep, he doesn't seem behind development wise. In fact he seems far ahead of anyone his age.” He said with a bright laugh. His cheeks were flushed because he was partaking in wine today. Gustav, who was also slightly drunk, nodded enthusiastically. “Indeed! He is brighter than fire! I suspect within a week or two he will get the balance down to begin walking.” When everyone heard Gustav's drunk boasting they didn't think much of it. However, Bridgette soon slung herself around Gustav's neck. Her face was beet red and she was sloshed. After finally unwinding from the stressful past 10 months, she over did it with the wine. “*hickup* He's nawt lying! Charslie is soooo smart! He's like a gonius!” Bridgette blabbered, slurring her words and rubbing her face against Gustav's head.” Gustav just looks straight ahead stone faced, but a quiet blush creeps onto his face. “Bridgette I think you've had too much wine.” He says flatly. “W-wha you no Grostov! *Hiccup* Do you know how hard it is carrying a baby! And then even after all of that, the little asshole didn't even wake up for a whole month!” Suddenly Bridgette's drunk and confident demeanor turned solemn and depressed. “A-am I not good enough for him? W-why would he just sleep all that time and make me so worried.” She slumps herself over Gustav's lap and begins to cry. Letting out a breath, Gustav picks her up and begins carrying her to their room. Before they leave the dining hall she is already snoring in his arms. Charlie simply watched this spectacle from the side quietly eating a pastry his great grandfather had given him.

Soon Gustav returned with his arms free. “She is so hopeless. Who let her have wine?” He asked as he sat down. Cathrine shoots him a nasty look. “She's right you know, carrying and birthing children isn't easy! She deserves to have a bit of fun once in a while.” She says as she puffs her chest out. “That's not what she'll say tomorrow. I'll be blamed for her hangover and for letting her get drunk.” Gustav sighs heavily. This causes everyone to burst out into a laugh. When the laughter dies down, Gustav's face turns stern. “I didn't want to talk about this when little Lordess Elizabeth was around but now I should be good. Charlie probably doesn't understand what's going on so it should be fine. How has the defense against the Devil Lords Church been lately? And any sign of the Hero's arrival?” Gustav spat it out all at once. The surrounding table went silent and Peter's face went grim. “The defence has been going as well as it can be. The Devil's church has been gaining new followers fast. A large portion of the girls from the City of Chamuel fell into depravity. That was a large blow. It will take at least 2 years for us to recover. As for the Hero, there has been no signs. However all of the Oracles here and the Pope himself have said that he should already be among us. And we are just waiting for his power to blossom. And should we find him, bring him to the Pope immediately. That is the will of the Lord.” The entire dining hall was dead silent. All eyes were fixed on Peter. Even Charlie's, as if he were listening intently he was looking at Peter with bewilderment and bit of nervousness. This went largely unnoticed, the silence was only broken when Gustav replied, “Chamuel huh, that is a massive blow. If it were to be anywhere, evil would breed there the easiest.” He said gravely. “I'm guessing this was the reason for the addition of another Bishop in every city?” Peter nodded to Gustav's question. “Yes, each city is getting an extra bishop because the Devil followers' magic has suddenly gotten stronger.” “What!” Gustav jumps out of his seat. “How did it suddenly get stronger! How are we going to defend against them now? Only his Holiness could possibly stand against such power!” Gustav began to lose his composure. As an Ex guard captain he was well aware of the strength of the enemy. Gustav was only at the 3rd tier of magic. He is only equal to a high level pastor. Peter, seeing Gustav's panic, lowers his hand to calm him down. Things are not as dire as you expect. While it is true that their power has grown, so has ours. For the past decade we have Increased the amount of trainees we accept. The amount of Bishops we hold is double to what it used to be. The Devil worshipers may have more physical strength but we have numbers. As long as 2 bishops fight 1 Devil Bishop then they are guaranteed to win.” Hearing this Gustav did calm down a little. “2 against 1 is always better, but there's not always incidents where it's possible. What are we to do if we can't fend them off?” Gustav asks. “Then we fight to the last man. We are the shields of the bastion of humanity. If we fall, humanity is 1 step closer to destruction and darkness. If that happens, then our world will fall and humanity will not see the mana return to Him. The Pope has great confidence in the Hero. He is all he talks about lately. I even heard him say something like “Soon the lord's earthly sword and shield will be united and the armor of darkness will be slashed apart. ” When Peter spoke this, everyone grew solemn yet a bit excited for the hero's arrival. Even Charlie who had woken up not long ago understood how important the hero was. Since he had woken up he had felt that something was missing from his memory. He couldn't remember anything after his death except the phrase “I must kill the Demon King”. After hearing this explanation from his family Charlie began to suspect that he may be the hero. Inside Charlie's grey eyes a small flash of what looked like a grey worm or string slithers inside of his pupil burrowing deep into his soul.
