Ch-53: The Party Begins

Whatever displeasure and annoyance Dan had with his own skill choices, they all disappeared once he saw the Voyager's skill.

Just from the examples given by the system, it already seemed too good to be true. Who knows what other possible uses it could have? The materials needed might be a problem at the moment, but he knew that it wouldn't be too hard to get them. This skill felt like the kind that would become too useful at the endgame. He wondered what it would turn into at future tiers.

That last thought brought into the forefront of his mind something that he had thought about for a bit before, Do the Voyager's skills also have tiers? And if yes, how does that work? The way things were going, the Voyager would get 10 skills at level 30, would that mean that she could never achieve a perfect 10?

There were so many possibilities and ways this could go, but having no way to find which one was the correct one now, he could only throw it to the back of his mind again.

The skill selections done, and his mood way better after seeing the Voyager's skill, Dan returned to the real world as he looked around.

The bridge was peaceful at the moment, though that didn't trick Dan, he knew that the Voyager was full of activity, with people running around preparing for that night's little party. Even while dealing with his selection, he was approached by people from time to time asking him about this or that. He even sat and talked to Robert, Diana and Mary about what should be prepared for the night.

Dan didn't want to interfere too much with the planning, they asked him about what he thought could be arranged with just a few people and he mentioned a few activities, the first of which was a show, but he decided to leave that to the people familiar with it the most, Diana and Mary. The first was a singer on the cruise ship and the second was a theatrical actress.

In the end, they decided on a few small events that wouldn't take much from them. The first was a go at the cruise's escape room, the Hidden Treasure. It wouldn't take a lot of people to keep that one going, just someone who knew the escape room well to reset the puzzles and give hints when needed.

A small party would also be ongoing next to the Hanging Playgrounds, a place that included a variety of activities like an aqua play zone, a rope and mini golf courses too. People would have the chance to just relax and socialise there, joining the little fun games. It would also work as a place where they could await their turn at the escape room when the previous group is done with it.

As a final activity, a way to end the night, there would be a show by Diana in the GrandDome, a place for live shows and performances and outdoor cinema. That would all be completed by a freshly made dinner by Raymond, fulfilling his wish to serve something other than leftovers too.

Dan and the others considered letting the passengers have a go at the casino, enjoying some table games. They decided to leave it to the next time though, what they had should be enough.

Making those plans, the others left Dan to get everything prepared for the night.

Standing up, Dan brought up his walkie-talkie and contacted Robert,

"Hey Robert, where are you at? Over."

"We are currently at the GrandDome," Robert's voice came, "The ladies are having fun preparing all this at least. Over."

Dan smiled, he could hear their voices in the background without Robert even mentioning it.

  "Okay, I'm heading your way."

It didn't take Dan long to find himself standing next to the people at the GrandDome. Just in time to find Diana comforting the theatrically sad Mary.

"What happened here?" he asked Robert who was watching from a small distance. The atmosphere didn't feel that heavy, so he knew that they were just messing around.

"Just Mary being sad that she won't be the first to have a show in this world," Robert answered with a light smile, "Unfortunately for her, having a singing show is much easier than a play. So that honour went to Diana."

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

"Poor Mary." Dan chuckled. The jolly old lady was quite the energetic grandma.

Dan then joined everyone in making preparations for the night. From preparing the venues and rides to fetching the ingredients for dinner.

In the Skyline, while they gathered to rest for a bit and to have lunch, Dan had Marcus, Old Raily, Robert William and Keith sit with him. He had something to discuss with them.

"What is it you wanted to talk to us about," Robert said as he chewed.

"I want to have your opinions about something." He started slowly. "You know how we talked about telling the others about the Voyager coming alive once all the islanders were sent away? I think it's about time we do so. Tonight feels like our chance. Any ideas?"

"With the way last night went." It was Keith who spoke first, "I think quite a few are starting to suspect something is off. Freddie is probably one step away from realising the truth. Surprised he didn't bring that up with you yet, honestly."

"Yes," Robert said, "Considering that, it should be alright to just put it on the table."

"I'm with you." Marcus looked to be deep in thought as he spoke, tapping the table before continuing, "It might be good to hold on to the bit about her watching everything through the cameras though. That could be a good card to keep up our sleeves."

"How so?" William the old engineer beat Dan to the question, "I don't see much trouble in admitting to that."

"I can see two reasons." Old Raily looked at Marcus as if he didn't think of this at first, "One being that quite a few people appreciate their privacy. I doubt they are going to think much of a ship watching them, but just the idea that they are being watched 24/7 might be overwhelming for some. While the second, and most important reason, is how this could be quite the trump card if we have people on board that need watching. The islanders most likely didn't feel anything, and there were some world-class spies amongst them."

Dan didn't even think of the first reason, and the second was beyond what his mind usually dealt with, so it eluded him too.

"Okay, I see the advantages, and have nothing to say to that." Robert, the ever pragmatic, was the first to break the silence that fell while everyone was lost in thought.

Dan was also with Robert, the others agreeing too. Soon everyone but Keith gave their responses, as they looked at her, the first mate sighed,

"It feels a bit off to keep it from everyone here," Keith started slowly, looking clearly uncomfortable, "But I can see how it could be of help in the future, so I guess it's alright."

That little bit dealt with, they finished their lunch first before everyone went back to what they were doing. Dan found himself in the escape room, The Lost Treasure.

The room's theme was about a group of pirates who were following a treasure and finally made it to the last location in their journey, where the treasure was hidden. To win, you needed to find the treasure and a way to escape the room before the time limit.

Dan was quite fond of it, so he decided to be one of the people responsible for that part of the night, at least to help the volunteers till they were familiar with the mechanics.

After making sure that all was ready on everyone's side, Dan prepared himself before speaking into the speakers. It felt like ages since the last time he used them, so he couldn't hold the smile that started forming on his face before he had even said a word,

"Ladies and gentlemen~" he began cheerfully, "I'm happy to announce that we are having a party tonight with quite a few activities for you to enjoy! From trying your intelligence against the Pirate King for his treasure, to enjoying the aqua play zone and rope and golf courses! And finally, a show by our talented Otherworldly Siren followed by a specially made dinner by our chef! Enjoy your time everyone, let this party begin!"

Done with the announcement, Dan hurried to the escape room. Fortunately, he made it there before their first visitors arrived. He and Kathy, one of the deckhands and Leonard's girlfriend, were responsible for the escape room. Kathy wasn't familiar with its mechanics at first but Dan let her have a go at it before showing her the ropes.

"And here are our first visitors!" Dan said as he welcomed them, slipping into the persona he played whenever he met with his passengers, "I was wondering who it would be, I should have known that it would be our young princesses!"

The people heading towards them were Annie and her husband, Dex, and their daughter Tracy, one of the only 2 children on the ship. Alongside them were Jackie and his little daughter, Tiffany, the youngest person amongst them.

"Wow Captain, I didn't know that you thought of me as a princess!" Jackie exclaimed as he spun in place, "Too bad I didn't wear my pretty dress today, right Tiffany?"

The people there laughed and Dan could see the little girl turn embarrassed over her father's antics. Aiming to save her from the trouble, he said,

"So, I take it you're joining us as a group? The Lost Treasure can take a group of 5 easily."

"I think we will go with that," Annie said as she looked at her husband.

Dan glanced at the others and saw no refusal from them, so he moved aside as he began the story for the escape room.

PATREON a chance! The special, limited tier is still not complete! Don't let this chande pass you by~
