Up Next Is...NoDragons! (A.K.A Jerkface)

Sooo I suppose I should begin at the beginning

I owe my incredible success to my equally incredible talent, you see

  Mhmm

It all began when I was born, basically perfect already

  I wouldn't doubt it

There was a short interlude where I mastered the English language, starting with the word 'bee'

  or the letter 'bee'

  Nobody's quite sure

But I consider myself a writer in the key of b. you'll find it features quite prominently in my works

Funny how you don't have any bee's in Thieves' Dungeon...

  I-

  I'm getting to it okay

  Sure you are

You're just like those people who are always saying 'the dungeon isn't actually doing that much thieving'

  doubters

my artistic process cannot be rushed

You're already on the second volume!

  Where are the bees?

  Where?

  Fine!

  Bees this chapter

  Good, good

  You're getting somewhere

  Now

  About your deal with dragons...

  None

  Zero

  That's my line.

  Fine, fine

  Any story can have dragons

My story has giant lizards with explosive breath

There's a sophistication and a nuance there the average Dungeoncore lacks

You know, it seems you lack creativity, Jerkface

You haven't explored what to do with dragons

  what

  how dare you

I am exploring every possible way not to have dragons

It's like asking a chiascurrist where their colors are

  The absence is the art!

  Not having dragons is easy

You haven't seen a dragon so far in That Boy Hare, have you?

And I love dragons! They're the best fantasy creature!

  hares are basically dragons

  It's a provable fact

  What?

  How?

Well, you understand how we're now discovering dinosaurs had feathers - and possibly were significantly fatter than we envisioned.

This is all because it's very hard to determine soft tissue from bone fossils.

The same, we're discovering, is true with the dragon fossil record. What looked from their bones to have been scaly, lean predators, were in fact nothing more than enormous flying ancestors to the common bunny

I'll have you know, Jerkface, that hares are not bunnies

  now we're splitting hares

I'd strangle you, if I could, but we have an interview to finish...

Tell me, where did you get the idea of Thieves' Dungeon?

Mmm I think I literally just started writing

No, wait, wait. I remember now. It was 'what if a Dungeon was also a thieves' guild'

Kinda self-explanatory. The story has really taken on a life of its own from there.

In my experience, I'll say, it's less about having ideas and more about listening to your ideas. Letting them go where they want to go, letting the music of the words carry you from sentence to sentence.

I didn't know you were such a hippy, Jerkface

I don't like to be but I don't have any other words for it

Writing, at least how I go about writing, doesn't have a lot to do with the upper portions of the brain, and a lot more to do with feeling with your way through by intuition

So you listen to your heart when you write, huh?

And paint with all the colors of the wind

But in all seriousness, when you get in a groove with writing, it's like putting puzzle pieces into place

The shape of the last line tells you what the shape of the next needs to be

You don't need to consciously plan out what's going on, sentence to sentence. You just listen to the flow of the words.

I remember you saying you have a problem with not writing.

It seems this is quite true, isn't it?

Yeah I've been a workaholic since I started thieves dungeon

Even taking a break for a week was pretty hard, something I had to force myself to do

  Your drive is admirable

  Thank you

If I had even a fraction of it, every chapter of That Boy Here would be up and scheduled by now

Obviously I need to write a guest chapter

  That would be lovely!

Do note that if you ever need a not-quite-right in the head character, I'd be your guy to give you the basics

oh I get those from the mirror

  lol

So Jerkface. The topic of fanfictions has crossed my mind.

  Have you written any?

Never, I don't think, but I'm someone who's always thinking, when they read, 'how would I write this?'

How would you feel if someone wrote a fanfiction of your story?

  Flattered

It was really fun and energizing to read the guest chapters, because they helped me break out of the rut I was in and see different perspectives

Vaulder is, personally, my favorite charactor

I like seeing how his character is slowly, ever so slowly, being cracked by his time in the dungeon

Vaulder is I think the dark horse of the story. A lot of people didn't get why such a normal character was being introduced

But having a grounded perspective makes everything around him that much more wonderful - and you get to see that sensible, normal person be cracked apart.

I'm not sure how I'd hold up if I was in Vaulder's situation

On one hand, I'm not as fragile as he is

  On the other...spiders

Getting hauled into a giant spider's nest would certainly change you

That's something I've been trying to focus on lately. The joy of seeing disposable adventurers die in amusing ways is running a bit dry for me, so I want to focus more on how the Dungeon changes people

Killing adventurers never gets old. But I see what you mean.

  You should review Kurt.

  It'll be a hoot.

  Interview, I mean

I intend to interview as many authors on the site as I can
