1 - THE DEVL AND THE MACHINE: TEAL 01

  I’m not saying I have a type.

But once the outline of that figure appeared in the light, I could just see the biceps. With a single flex, I knew. Okay?

  I

  knew.

Even upon seeing the flat television screen where his head would’ve been, I didn’t waver.

“Yes,” I forced myself to sound level.

  I want that one.

Before us were two men; a youthful one with pink eyes and dark hair - he hid behind the other man, with a curious expression.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

Then there was the other man, big and buff, wearing a charcoal suit and black gloves. And of course, where his head would’ve been, was a television screen instead.

They looked quite the odd couple, gotta say.

“So, uh... who are you...?” I pursed my lips.

“Whomever you want us to be,” the television man replied, tone all smug. His voice… sounded like the one I heard earlier. The whispers and all, calling out to ‘my liege.’

  Who was his liege? Me?

“... w-what about, um… you… both…?” the meek one asked, peering out further. Upon further inspection, I noticed a pair of horns sticking out from his hair.

  … cute…

“Purple and Teal; university students.” Purple offered her hand to the two. The television man shook it with promise, while the meek one sunk back with wide eyes.

  “...”

Purple offered a small smile, and kept her hand stretched outward. After a moment, the meek one took her hand in his own and shook it gingerly. There was a pause before she pulled back, still keeping that smile.

  I knew the one.

  It was polite, but genuine.

I couldn’t help but smile, too.
