B1: Chapter 86: Stats and Resistances

Daz spent a good hour on edge, doing nothing more than asking the system question after question and thinking about what he should spend his remaining points on. As a result, he had learnt exactly what every stat he owned did and what they affected.

He had never checked this before, at least not in depth, and he could only slap himself in the knee for that. It helped him a lot now that he actually knew what the stats did.

Daz could only chalk this error up to the fact that Rimmy wasn't here. If he was, he'd have certainly pointed this out to the young Reaper.

Daz briefly thought about what each stat did once more before deciding on whether or not to buy any more points in them.

From all of this, Daz had learnt a few things. First, Reapers weren't very charismatic or lucky. Both of these stats had much lower limits than the others, even when compared to the Defense stat which was naturally low due to a Reaper's innate weakness to physical attacks.

On the topic of Defense, Daz had figured out that, despite having over three-thousand Defense thanks to Altros' Travelling Gear, he was only actually getting five-hundred due to his racial upper limit of the stat.

Daz took a mental note of the stats and their increases per point when compared to how many he could buy right now and shook his head. These wouldn't help him in the short run. He needed something more definitive. A bigger jump in strength was what Daz was looking for to guarantee he wouldn't lose anything when dealing with Camp Waterford.

One thing, in particular, had taken his interest. Despite the high costs, he thought that perhaps he should invest in the racial resistances.

"System, show me my resistance sheet, please," Daz asked.

Daz frowned. While unimportant right this minute, the weakness to holy magic unsettled him. Likewise, the high resistance to magic attacks, in general, annoyed Daz due to how useless that would be against the soldiers of Camp Waterford. He knew that could save him later on, but it was more or less useless right now.

Daz closed his eyes and sighed. "I guess I'll just spend the rest of my merit points on fixing this sheet and making myself far more durable. That seems like the best course of action right now."

And so Daz spent a full hour thinking about what resistances to buy that would benefit his Species in the long run while considering the immediate threat of the General and his men. After much thought and several questions to the system, Daz had finally finished spending his points.

Daz smiled. Now he felt much more confident. It had cost him one-hundred and twenty-thousand merit points, which was more or less the rest of his remaining points, but now Daz had the confidence to face at least a few bullets head on, maybe even more, with just his body.

Standing up, Daz stretched his back and left his cabin feeling much more relaxed than when he had entered. It was time to train his combat skills and try to level them up as much as possible. In Daz's opinion, there was no such thing as 'over preparing'.
