[Chapter 6]

KiAera twisted in mid-air, her kunai clashing against the monster's stinger with a shower of sparks. The force of the impact sent her spinning, but she used the momentum, landing in a crouch, her weapons ready.
"Xetra, get out of here!" KiAera commanded. "Now!"
"Can't do that, boss," Xetra's voice chirped from the shadows, even as she engaged two Oni guards who had burst into the room. "Abandoning my new partner on our first date? How uncouth!"
Jalkra stood frozen, a tableau of shock and fury. His gaze darted from the wasp-like creature to KiAera, then to the ventilation shaft from which she had emerged. His mind was likely a battlefield, the Seated member's poison warring with a decade of loyalty.
"Traitor," Jalkra growled, the word torn from his throat. But who was he addressing? The monster who had manipulated him, or the Chief who had hidden herself?
"Jalkra, listen to me!" KiAera shouted, her voice cutting through the clash of steel and the guttural cries of the Oni. "He's been playing you from the start! He wants you to destroy the UvoSath, to start a civil war!"
"Of course I do," the Seated member hissed, his multifaceted eyes glittering with amusement. He discarded his robe, the cloth splintering the ground upon impact with the weight of a thousand tons. His true features were a grotesque fusion of humanoid and insect.
An orange-black, chitinous exoskeleton covered a wiry, powerful frame. Two pairs of gossamer wings, thin as razor wire, beat with a low, thrumming buzz at his back. From his forearms extended wickedly sharp, bone-white stingers, dripping with a viscous ichor. He was a nightmare given form, a perfect killing machine forged in Lorgagore's crucible.
A Voltwasp Emperor.
But it was his eyes that held KiAera's attention. They were cold, devoid of any emotion but a chilling, intellectual curiosity, as if he were studying the chaos he had wrought with the detached interest of a scientist observing an experiment.
"Would you like to test the might of Yzarluzz, Chimeron Chief?" he cackled.
KiAera ignored his taunt; instead, she caught a glimpse of his status.

"You're going to regret revealing yourself to me," the monster snarled at KiAera. "You should have scurried back to your nest while you had the chance." His wings flared, and he shot forward, a black streak of death, not at KiAera, but at Xetra.
Xetra was fast, but the Seated member was faster. He closed the distance in a heartbeat, his stinger aimed for her heart.
She twisted, her {Demonic} shield flaring to life, but the stinger punched through, cracking the energy barrier and forcing her back with a pained grunt. The two Oni guards she had been toying with lunged, their axes swinging in wide arcs.
Jalkra finally moved. A deafening roar ripped from his chest, a raw sound of fury and conflict. He didn't attack KiAera. He didn't attack the Voltwasp Emperor. He attacked the Oni guards, his fist connecting with the first one's jaw, sending the guard flying through the wall of his own office.
The second guard froze, his axe half-raised, his face a mask of confusion and terror. "Marshal...?"
"Anyone who draws a blade against my crew answers to me," Jalkra snarled, his eyes burning with a righteous fire. He grabbed the second guard by the collar, lifting him effortlessly off the floor. "Get out. Now!"
He threw the guard, who scrambled away and fled, leaving a scene of absolute chaos. KiAera, Xetra, the Voltwasp Emperor, and a Jalkra teetered on the edge of a decision that could shatter the Chimeron Crew.
"Sentimental fool," Yzarluzz hissed, turning his attention back to KiAera. "You've poisoned him with your weakness. Made him soft." He raised a stinger, pointing it at KiAera. "But I am the cure."
Before he could strike, Xetra was on him. She moved with a frantic, unpredictable energy, her attacks a whirlwind of kicks, punches, and bursts of chaotic {Divine} and {Demonic} energy. She wasn't fighting with precision; she was fighting with pure, unadulterated aggression.
"Stay away from her, you overgrown cockroach!" she shrieked, her voice a cacophony of rage and defiance.
Yzarluzz met her assault with an unnerving calm. He parried her blows with his stingers, his movements economical and precise. He was like a predator toying with its prey, analyzing her style, looking for an opening.
"Your {Demonic} energy is... unrefined," he remarked, blocking a high kick with a forearm. "Wild. Uncontrolled. It has potential, but it lacks discipline."
"Discipline this!" Xetra yelled, firing a bolt of silver energy from her palm.
The Emperor sidestepped, the bolt blasting a crater in the wall behind him. "As I said. No discipline."
KiAera saw her opportunity. While the Emperor was distracted by Xetra, she could end this. Fluidly, like discarding a piece of cloth, she shifted from her {Shinobi} form to her {Phoenix} form.
"[Phoenix]."
Fire, brilliant and golden, erupted from her body, consuming the black attire of the Shinobi. Her form was wreathed in incandescent flames, her hair a flowing cascade of molten blues. From her back sprouted majestic wings of pure fire, their heat causing the very air to shimmer. On her wrist were shimmering halo bracelets, each resembling a new life. They would activate if she were slain.

"{Sunfire Lance}!"
A spear of condensed, white-hot flame materialized in her hands. She hurled it not at the Emperor, but at the ceiling directly above him. The spear impacted with a silent, intense explosion of light and heat, vaporizing a huge section of the reinforced ceiling. The massive structural beam, weakened by the intense heat, groaned and then collapsed, a multi-ton chunk of iron and stone crashing down toward the Voltwasp Emperor.
The monster laughed as the debris incinerated on impact with his own bio-electric aura. "Your fire is a pleasant warmth, Chimera Chief. A fleeting annoyance."
"Get them!" the Voltwasp Emperor commanded, not to Jalkra, but to the walls themselves. A dozen Oni guards burst into the room through the shattered doorway, their eyes glowing with the same sickly, purple energy that had been tainting the embassy. They weren't just loyal; they were enthralled.
Jalkra roared, a sound of pure, undiluted fury. "You DARE?! You dare turn MY soldiers against me?!" He slammed his fists together, the shockwave of crimson-yellow energy washing over the enthralled guards. They stumbled, the purple light in their eyes flickering.
"I dare much, Marshal," Yzarluzz buzzed, turning to face the new threat. "Your loyalty was always conditional. A means to an end."
"I have served the Chimeron Crew for ten years!" Jalkra bellowed, his fists wreathed in crackling energy. "I have bled for them! I have raised my son among them! Your words are venom, but my bond is steel!"
"A bond you are about to break," Yzarluzz countered, stingers poised to strike. "Attack your chief, and your son will be spared. Defy me, and he will be the first to fall. His power is… intriguing. Lorgagore would love to harness it."
Jalkra howled, and KiAera moved. The room became a vortex of motion. Xetra, a blur of pink and silver, danced between the enthralled guards. She wasn't killing them but disabling them with brutal efficiency, breaking limbs and shattering kneecaps with cheerful disregard for their well-being.
"Sorry, boys!" she chirped, ducking under a swing of a halberd and retaliating with a sharp kick to the guard's temple. "Nothing personal! Just following orders from the boss lady!"
Jalkra, a maelstrom of Oni fury, fought alongside her. His movements were less fluid, more direct, but no less devastating. Each punch he threw carried the weight of a battering ram, sending guards flying through the air, their purple auras shattering like glass.
KiAera surged forward, firing a vortex of {Spectral Flame} at Yzarluzz. The Voltwasp Emperor was the focal point of the storm, a calm eye in the chaos. His wings buzzed furiously to create a {Bio-Buzz Barrier} that snuffed out the flames. His multifaceted eyes tracked her every move.
"Your power is impressive, Chimera Chief," he buzzed, the sound a low, menacing thrum that vibrated in KiAera's bones. "But you will be extinguished."
He lunged, a streak of black and orange. His stingers were a blur of motion, aiming for her head. KiAera twisted, her fiery wings folding inwards as she dodged. The stingers scraped against her armored pauldrons, the impact sending a jarring shockwave through her body.
She retaliated with a flurry of {Solar Flares}, blinding flashes of light that disoriented the Emperor. But he was prepared. His multifaceted eyes adapted instantly, the glare having no effect.
"Your tricks are as predictable as your loyalty," he hissed, one of his stingers extending, crackling with a viscous purple lightning. He flicked it, and a single droplet of poison flew through the air, arcing toward her face.
KiAera threw up a wall of {Phoenix Flame} fire, the droplet sizzling as it impacted the barrier. She smirked, then bounded backward into a {Portal} as the Emperor lunged again.
When he turned in search of her whereabouts, KiAera grasped his shoulder and pulled him through another {Portal}. The field changed, far from bystanders and civilians.
The two reemerged in DreaGoth's wasteland, a sprawling desert of black stone surrounded by jagged obsidian spires. The air was cold, and the sky was a canvas of swirling violet and orange clouds. The battlefield was now open and clear.
Yzarluzz roared as a {Sunfire Blast} seared the chitin of his chest. He beat his wings furiously, creating a localized hurricane of bio-electric energy that sent her staggering back. He was faster, stronger, and more durable than she had anticipated. Her {Phoenix} form, for all its power, was not enough. She was a candle, and he was a windstorm.
"Here's to a swift death, Chimera Queen!" Yzarluzz raised a stinger to the heavens. "This will be Lorgagore's reign!"
A wave of despair washed over her, cold and suffocating. KiAera glanced upward to witness a bolt of purple-orange lightning pouring down toward her position. The lightning engulfed her, swallowing her body whole.
Consciousness faded as the world around her blacked out. She had perished beneath the devastation, and the foremost bracelet on her wrist shattered. A life-bracelet. One life lost.
"Lorgagore."
The name echoed in her mind, a ghost from a life she had tried so desperately to forget.
The name was a curse, a brand on her soul. She saw his face, a twisted mask of cruel amusement, as he stood over her broken body, the life bleeding out of her on the cold, unforgiving asphalt of a world called Earth.
She exhaled, not casting aside her thoughts. Instead, she used them as conviction. She took a step forward. Her aura surged. The lightning that once stung her flesh now tingled with the sensation of raindrops. She had feared facing Lorgagore's elite. Had she overestimated them?
"So, this is your best effort?" she breathed. Disappointment flared hot in her chest. "This is the might of Lorgagore's empire? A cheap parlor trick and a big name? It's pathetic."
The Emperor recoiled, a flicker of disbelief in his multifaceted eyes. The lightning dissipated, and KiAera stood unharmed, her {Phoenix} form burning brighter than ever.
"Your arrogance will be your undoing," he snarled, but there was a new tension in his stance, a hint of unease.
KiAera smiled. "No. Your weakness will be yours." She pointed a flaming finger at him. "You hide behind a dead Overlord's name. You are not Lorgagore. You are an insect. And I am the flame that will burn your damn nest to the ground!"
"Ultimate Form Shift: [Zodiac]." KiAera commanded.
The golden fire of her {Phoenix} form didn't just recede; it imploded. A sphere of absolute darkness, a pinprick of shattered starlight, swallowed her form. The wasteland went utterly silent. The thrum of the Voltwasp Emperor's wings, the whistle of the wind, the distant crackle of energy from the DreaGoth capital—it all vanished, consumed by the void.
Then, from the center of that perfect blackness, came a different light. Not the fiery blue of a star, but the cool, ethereal silver of the moon. The sphere of darkness expanded, then fractured like a glass orb, revealing KiAera's new form.
She was taller now, her skin dusted with starlight. A mane of pure, white hair flowed down her back, and from her head sprouted two magnificent, spiraling horns that seemed to be carved from the cosmos itself. Her eyes were pools of liquid silver, reflecting the violet and orange clouds above. She wore a form-fitting suit of void-black robes, etched with constellations that shifted and pulsed with a soft, internal light.
And from her back, instead of wings of flame, unfurled twelve magnificent, ethereal appendages, shimmering and translucent, woven from starlight and shadow.
She didn't wait for a response. She launched herself forward, a comet of kaleidoscopic fire. Her movements were a blur of motion.
"{Auspicious Summit}!"
A torrent of white-hot flame, infused with the purifying power of twelve energies, erupted from her hand. It wasn't just an attack; it was an absolute. A law of the universe bent to her will. The flame washed over the Voltwasp Emperor, and for a moment, he was utterly consumed.
KiAera heard his pained howl reverberate across the wasteland as he soared into the air. The Emperor's chitinous armor cracked, glowing orange from the heat. But still, he lived.
Yzarluzz emerged from the flames, his chitinous armor smoking. His eyes glowed with a furious, malevolent light. He lunged again, a blur of black and orange.
"{Temporal Snap}!" KiAera commanded, not with her voice, but with her will.
The world around her stuttered. The Voltwasp Emperor's charge froze mid-air, a single frame in the cosmic film reel. The dust motes hanging in the light stopped their dance, and the wind ceased its howl. KiAera calmly walked around him, her fingers trailing along the surface of his frozen form.
"{Celestial Pulse}."
She placed a single, glowing finger on the center of his chest. The moment she did, the world lurched back into motion. Time resumed its flow, and the Voltwasp Emperor was thrown backward by the force of an internal explosion, a star being born and dying within him. He crashed into a cluster of obsidian spires, the impact sending a shockwave that shattered the very ground.
KiAera didn't press the attack.
Yzarluzz's wings beat with a frantic, furious buzz, the sound a dissonant chord in the wasteland's eerie silence. He hovered in the air, a gaunt silhouette against the swirling clouds, the cracks in his exoskeleton glowing like dying embers. His multifaceted eyes, once glittering with cold intelligence, now burned with a raw, primal hatred.
"How dare you harm me! I'll kill you! I swear upon it! You and your kin will suffer a thousand—"
He pointed one of his stingers at her, the tip glowing with a blinding purple light. The air around him crackled with a terrifying concentration of {Bio-Electric} energy. He was preparing to unleash a truly devastating attack, one that could perhaps even match KiAera's newfound power.
"{Star-Shatter Barrage}," she whispered.
A constellation of miniature star clusters coalesced before her, each one a sphere of condensed gravitational force and cosmic energy. They spun around her in a silent, deadly orbit before launching themselves at the Emperor, a volley of miniature supernovas.
Yzarluzz, for the first time, looked truly alarmed.
They struck home, each impact a silent explosion that warped the very fabric of space around the Emperor. The wasteland shimmered and distorted, the black glass of the ground cracking under the strain.
The charred remains of Yzarluzz hit the ground, leaving behind nothing more than a husk.
Yzarluzz, the 9th Seat of Omega V Lorgagore, had fallen in battle to KiAera.
