278. The South Pole Branch Facility (3)

Aleona swings her fishing rod forward, and the hook launches forward towards Lily, moving at 120km/h. The hook was about to land on Lily’s left shoulder.

  *CTANG*

But she erected a small clock shield over her shoulder, and the hook was deflected away.

“Hmm, you fight by stabbing someone with the hook? Interesting!” said Lily.

  “TCH!”

Aleona reeled back her hook quickly and prepared to launch it again. This time, she launches her hook to her left far into the distance. Meanwhile, Prisila appears next to Lily on her right. She swings her electrified hockey stick towards Lily’s right leg.

  *DAHK*

  *!!*

But Lily lifts her right foot and stops the hockey stick with the sole. She wasn’t zapped by her hockey stick despite directly touching it, as her right foot is glowing in light blue.

  “W-WHAT? HOW?”

“Explaining it would be a hassle, so let’s just say that you are completely outmatched! Now sleep!”

  *BAAAAMM*

And once again, Prisila was hit on the back of her head without her ever reacting to it. She fell to the snow below, face-first, and doesn’t move anymore. Her hockey stick disappears into thin air.

  *GRAAHKKKKK*

  *?*

Lily turns around and sees that Aleona has reeled in a large chunk of the earth, about 15m in diameter, covered with snow on the top, 200 meters from where Aleona stood.

  “HRAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!”

Aleona pulls the large chunk of the earth towards Lily, and it moves at 80km/h.

“WAAHH!! I didn’t expect that fishing rod to be that strong. Are you saying you can ‘fish out’ anything as long as it is within the limitations of your strength? Wow, that’s neat! I’ve never met anyone with this kind of power, and I’ve met A LOT!! Trust me!” said Lily in awe.

Lily puts her right hand towards the incoming boulder and casts her reverse ability as her right forearm glows in light blue.

  *!!*

The boulder glows in light blue, and it magically and instantly returns to where it was before it was pulled by Aleona.

  “WHAT THE FUCK?”

  *BAAAAAMMMM*

Before she could comment even further, Lily knocked her out quickly by hitting her in the back of her head. She falls flat to the snow, face-first, and instantly loses consciousness. Her fishing rod also disappears from her hand.

  “Phew! Light-kun! I’m done!”

Lily suddenly appeared next to Light with a happy face, but Light’s face was a little bit annoyed.

  “Errr, what’s wrong, Light-kun?”

“You were playing around too much! You could’ve taken care of them much earlier and much faster!!”

“EEEHH? BUT IT’S A FISHING ROD FAITH POWER LIGHT-KUN!! WHEN HAVE YOU EVER SAW SOMEONE UTILIZING THAT AS A WEAPON? I WAS CURIOUS, AND IT’S NORMAL, RIGHT?”

Light angrily approaches Lily and grabs both of her shoulders, and it almost startles Lily.

“BECAUSE WE ARE IN A HURRY, MY GIRLFRIEND IN CHRIST!! S! E! V! E! N! T! H! DO THOSE LETTERS RING A BELL?”

  *!*

  “R-Right! I apologize, Light-kun. . .”

Lily looks sad and leans her head down. She also pouts her mouth with a pair of eyes that almost shed a tear.

  *Sigh*

  *!*

Light hugs Lily once again after letting out a little sigh.

“Again, I didn’t mean to make you sad! I’m just reminding you of the importance of what we’re doing! Please don’t take it too hard!”

  “Okay. . . I understand. . .”

Lily hugs him back, and they stay like that for a few seconds in silence.

  *!*

  “SEVENTH!!”

They both screamed in harmony and let go of their hugs. They quickly run towards the gate of the facility.

Light clenches her right fist and blackens it.

  *TWAAAANNGGG*

  *GRAAAANNNGG*

He punched the gate, and it flew off the brick wall and crashed into the giant metal door, horribly denting it. Lily creates her clock sword in both hands. Her hair changes color to light blue, and both of her pupils change into a clock.

*SLASH SLASH SLASH SLASH SLASH SLASH*

She slices the entrances into pieces as she also goes through the debris, entering the facility ahead. Light jumps forward and also enters the building.

  *!!!*

As soon as he is inside, he sees that Lily has already erected a dome of clock shield to protect them both.

*BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM*

They were bombarded by a cluster of explosions from various sources, such as grenades, grenade launchers, bazookas, RPGs, and many more. They were welcomed warmly by members of the facility, though none of the explosion actually harmed Lily’s clock shield or anything.

  “What proper manners!” said Light.

“I’m sad they don’t offer water or tea at least. So do we still need to confirm anything, or can we just destroy this building to the ground, Light-kun?”

“Hmm, let’s split up, actually! We must find out where the other facilities that are connected with this one are!”

  “OH! Good point!”

  *!*

But before Lily was ready to leave her dome of clock shield, Light put his hand on her left shoulder.

  “What’s wrong?”

“. . .I know that this is very unlikely. Very, VERY unlikely, but. . . if there’s a chance that one of Martin’s clones is stationed here. . .”

  *!!!*

Lily was already in a position to run ahead, but she quit the pose and stood up.

“That thought. . . never even crossed my mind. Thank you for being here with me, Light-kun!”

“I, once again, apologize for even bringing up his name suddenly without warning.”

Light grabs both of Lily’s hands.

“Let’s go!” said Light as he stared deeply into her eyes.

“Yes, Light-kun!” replied Lily with a relieved smile.

“Alright, please destroy every weapon that keeps causing these explosions!”

“Eh? Light-kun! You sounded like I was going to kill everyone if you didn’t warn me!”

  “Eh? That’s not what I was implying. . .”

  “Hmm? Really?”

“Yes, my lovely Lily. . .”

“. . .Is that so?” said Lily in a quiet tone with a face that slightly turned red.

She turns around with her clock swords ready in both hands. She turns her head one last time and lets out her tongue at Light. She looks forward and exits her dome of shield afterward.

Light was just confused at her antics, but in his head, he simply screams, “CUUUUUUUUTTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!”, but nobody will ever know this.

Lily exits the dome of the clock shield, and after only a second, the explosions abruptly stop, and the dome of the clock shield fades away. Light finally gets to take a look at the inside of the facility.

There is a giant and long hallway, completely white, that spans about 20 meters forward, with walls on each side 2,5m tall, and it leads to a gigantic, open, rectangular-shaped room at the end. There are many open doors on both sides of the hallway. And there are also many weapons sliced in two, lying on the floor everywhere, with the smaller bits here and there across the entire hallway. Though there seems to be nobody holding the weapons. The weapons vary from normal firearms to some other futuristic weapons that Light has no idea how it functions. Many lights shine from ceilings, though they're dimmed and not as bright as those in any other normal room in most buildings.

Lily is standing at the end of the hallway, where it leads to the giant open room, raising and waving both of her arms, still wielding her two clock swords towards Light with a happy face.

“This way, Light-kun!” said Lily cheerfully.

Light held back his laughter at how adorable his girlfriend is acting right now. He quickly runs to her and reaches her.

“. . .I was about to ask whether you were harmed or not, but that would be silly of me to even doubt the Queen of Time, herself!!”

Lily once again pouts her mouth in front of Light.

“C-Complimenting me so often like this ain’t gonna change a thing, Light-kun! I already fell in love with you to the max!”

“I know! I just wanna compliment you.” said Light with a smile.

  “. . .”

She just silently accepts Light’s kind words with a pouted mouth.

“L-Let’s go, or at this rate we’ll miss the SEVENTH JUDGE altogether!” said Lily.

  “Oh! You’re right! I apologize! Let’s move!”

They run into the next giant room.

  *!!*

  *WUUSSHHHH*

  *WUUUSHHHH*

But as soon as they set foot into the room, two different something were swung towards their neck from left and right.

There were two adult males, wearing lab coats, hiding just behind the wall of this room on each side, each holding a spiked baseball bat. They hoped to kill Light and Lily with this attack, but they should’ve expected otherwise. Light transformed his neck and caught the baseball bat, and it’s stuck on his blackened neck. Lily ducks down and dodges the baseball bat completely.

  *BAM BAM*

Light swings his left fist, and it blackens. He hits the guy with a backhanded smash to his face, and the scientist immediately passes out. Lily quickly moves to the scientist's front and shoves her forearm forward into his neck, crashing him into the wall directly behind him. The sudden shock knocked him out cold.

  *!!*

Light and Lily turn around and see that hundreds of people are gathered in the room in front of them. They are all standing 20 meters away from them. Some of them are scientists and security guards, but the majority of them are children or teenagers. There are some young adults, but very few, wearing the same green hospital gown, from Lily’s past, with a metal collar each on their necks.

The room itself felt like a giant open lobby for accepting visitors. This room is about 80x 120m wide in a rectangular shape, standing at 20 meters. The floor, walls, and ceilings are made of metals. There is no window at all in this room. There are many automatic sliding metal doors on the east and west sides of the room, but none on the south, and it’s only connected to one hallway on the north side. There is proper lighting across the entire building, but this one, for some reason, is brighter than any of the other rooms. Though it’s not like Light and Lily can compare it to anything else but the hallway behind.

“This feels nostalgic, and I am not even the one who experienced this past.” said Light.

“I should be saying that, Light-kun! The power of the Sword of Purification is truly full of wonders!”

“WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING HERE?” shouts one of the scientists loudly.

  “You know us?” said Light.

“WHO DOESN’T KNOW YOU TWO? THE WORST COMBINATION IN THE WORLD EVER!! THE BLOODLUSTED NIGHTMARE AND THE COLD-BLOOD MURDERER, THE QUEEN OF TIME!!”

“(Bloodlusted Nightmare? First time I heard that first part of my Underworld name. . .)”

“If that’s the case, then surely you know why we’re here!” said Light with a serious tone.

  *!!*

Everyone in the room suddenly feels intimidated by Light. Most of them have started sweating, even though he hadn’t even transformed any of his body parts yet, nor did he show his bloodlust.

Both of Lily’s hands are glowing light blue on the forearms.

“Before we begin, do any of you know of Professor Adam?”

  *!!!*

Most of the scientists reacted to Lily’s question, while the children, teenagers, and young adults were confused.

Light clenches his right hand into a fist, and it also transforms at the same time, up to his elbow.

  “Lily!”

  “Light-kun!”

Both of them face each other.

  *CLAP*

  And they high-fived each other.

  *BWOOOOSSHHH*

Both of them immediately blitz through everyone in the room. Lily is moving at a speed faster than light, while Light gathers the fabric of time, moving at the same speed as Lily. Lily can actually move faster than him, but she slows herself down slightly to match his boyfriend’s speed.

*BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM*

And so, within the next few milliseconds, everyone in the room started being sent flying from where they stood, losing their consciousness in the process.

*BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM BAAAM*

After one entire second, everyone in the room has been dealt with successfully, leaving only one scientist standing. Not a single one of them could react to both Light and Lily’s speed. They are also pulling their punches and holding back as much as possible, as a single mishap could simply explode anyone into pieces with a single punch due to their speed.

  *!!!!*

  “W-WHAAATTT??”

The scientist screamed in fear. From his perspective, everyone else quickly flew at the same time, forcefully, and he couldn’t see what even made them all fly, though he knew the culprits.

“You’re the only one left here!” said Light.

“Better start talking, unless there is someone else in the building, which there might have been a lot more than these!” said Lily.

They both suddenly stand behind him. The scientist turned around and quickly fell on his butt to the floor the first moment he got a look at both of their faces.

“Just be grateful that I am no longer the same Nightmare that people fear! Otherwise, I would have destroyed this entire building by dropping a giant meteor from above.” said Light.

“Yeah! What my boyfriend said!” said Lily.

  “I-i-i-i-i-i-I understand. . . P-p-p-p-please don’t kill me!”

The scientist begged for his life, with his face touching the floor.

“Well then, we wanna know everything about this entire facility and all of its connections with the other branches, about Professor Adam, the Creation project, and about that man that people called God, Martin Wedhessle!” demands Light with a serious glare of eyes towards the scientist.
