Once the mana finished absorbing into me, I didn't really feel that differently compared to before he fired it. I commented on this to Warrick to check and see if it was just me.
" Did it work?"
I no doubt had a puzzled look on my face as I asked it, in response, Warrick was quick to answer my question.
" Yes, you'll only feel the difference after you've grown to use some of the New Abilities from your Job. For starters, let's finds out what it is. Rodrick, please bring an Appraisal Orb for our friend."
Warrick spoke to me, assured of his Ability and beckoned to a guard standing away from the table. Before long, Rodrick the guard had returned with an Appraisal Orb. He handed it to me, and I fired it up to see what changed, also to check on a certain Spell that filled me with some surprise earlier in the day.

Before explaining the New Job, I opened Holy Heal's Textbox to confirm if anything had changed. This was from considering how Sarah's healing played out.

Holy Heal LV2
The First Healing Spell available from Holy Magic. While providing a moderate amount of healing, the true strength of this Skill lies in its effect to cure Status Ailments. Even the deadliest of Curses are mere child's play at the feet of this Great Spell.
To use this Spell, simply say Holy Heal while channeling your mana with the intent to heal. After you feel the mana's neutral state change to a healing sensation, direct it to your target.
Through creative use of channeling, your Ability to heal has grown deeper! Holy Heal now allows you to travel into your targets mindscape to rip out Spiritual Afflictions root and stem!

That explains a lot... I turned to Aqua immediately to ask if this is normal.
" Yes, Spells Evolve over time, through use and practice. It also helps Mana Efficiency as it grows as well."
Aqua answered my question, looking happy at the news that my Spell had improved.
" I see, so I have that Spell to thank for that time."
" What did you say Sarah? I couldn't hear you."
"!!!!"
"...."
" I asked what your New Job was, John."
Sarah, again, muttered something I couldn't make out. When I asked what she had said, she looked panicked and spoke in a higher voice, maybe all that time asleep has left her voice out of practice? When she attacked Peter, her tone was all over the place too, I thought it was murderous intent, but maybe it's from sleeping for so long? Anyways, I looked at my Status from the Orb and clicked on Summoner to see what it said.

Summoner
Summoners are beings who contract with Spirits to call on them whenever they need aid. However, the Spiritkin are a fickle race and only Spirits that take a liking to a Summoner will show themselves and offer to be Contracted to a Summoner.

" It says Summoner. Is that a good Job?"
All 3 looked at me with complicated expressions. This time Sarah spoke to me for the explanation.
" Summoners are a mixed bag depending on the person and Spirits they draw to themselves. Throughout history there have been great Summoners who were capable of turning the tide of a losing battle, but there have been countless more who have not been able to contract a single Spirit in their lifetime."
" I see. I guess I'll have to leave it up to fate then? How would I even go about Summoning a Spirit to Contract with?"
After Sarah's explanation I asked a question that came to my mind. Which Aqua decided to answer.
" Through meditation you can call out to a Spirit! It's how My Mother told me it was to be done. She is a Summoner but she's more remarkable in her hand-to-hand combat skills."
" Ah Mother-in-law."
Aqua answered and Warrick shuddered. Feeling a bit awkward, I asked another question to escape the mood.
" So, do you guys know what Favored by Demons does? It's a New Title I got."
they looked unsure from my question and responded that they didn't know. So, I decided to open the Textbox on it.

Favored By Demons
Before recorded history, there were tales of Humans who were friends with Demons and vice versa. Through word of mouth around campsites, there were even mutterings of Love blossoming between Man and Demon. Those given this Title embody that story, as they are most surely beloved by Demons and favored heavily. But be forewarned! Demonic Love is far heavier than one might think!
Effect.
Inspire feelings of Friendship and Love in Demons!
Unlock condition.
Be Loved by a Demon or multiple Demons.

" Hmm it says it inspires feelings of Friendship and Love between Humans and Demons!"
Warrick and Aqua look at Sarah who looks to the side and starts whistling. Not being sure what the in-jokes are like in this family, I voice a realization I made.
" Seems there's no getting around it I'm going to have to put in some serious training at some point."
Everyone looks at me and Warrick sighs and speaks.
" Don't worry. We'll see to it that you are properly trained to fight, John."
Warrick said that while Aqua and Sarah Nodded in agreement at his statement. And like that, footsteps began to echo through the dining hall and multiple waiters came out with steaming hot food. There were whole roasted animals I had never seen before, vegetables in various shades of colors, soup that had a rainbow hue in the broth and desserts that were made of different fruits that were sweet and cold as a perfect way to end the full course meal. And of course, everything tasted delicious no matter what it was. But most shocking was the amount of food the Royal family put away. I would think they'd put competitive eaters to shame and then some. Once finished with the meal, Warrick continued his thoughts from before the food came.
" Continuing on John, I think I should explain the current circumstances of the World to you, and how that led to me Summoning you here to Blackstone. To begin with, Diablos and the Human Country Promethia, are currently in a decades long war... Well, I say war, but the truth is it has been in a stalemate soon after the Humans declared an invasion on Diablos around 12 years ago. The instigation of the war could be seen as an error in my judgement when I became King. You see, to become King in Diablos, you have to win a competition, a tournament which only Nobles are allowed to participate in, Aqua and I were from different Duke Households, but Aqua chose not to participate. The tournament only happens at the death or retirement of the Previous King, the rule and the tournament itself were set in place by the 3rd Demon King in history, Draken Bloodboon the Wise."
" Wait a second, I need a minute to absorb all of that."
After confirming I understood all of that, I asked Warrick to continue.
" Well, it was a very hot-blooded affair that took place in that tournament 30 years ago, but I was the one left standing at the end. After I was awarded the Demon King Job Status, which winning the tournament is one of the criteria to obtain the Demon King Job, but not the way to fully Unlock it. For that, I had to do The last requirement, which was to be accepted by The Dark Gods that we Worship. Which I was able to get after hours of deep meditation. After obtaining the Job, I left to Aqua's Household and I immediately proposed to the Love of My Life and which she happily accepted."
Warrick and Aqua share a look as they remember old memories... What a lovey-dovey couple these two are.... Why is Sarah fidgeting and glancing at me? Wait! A thought just popped into my mind.
" If winning the tournament is one of the steps to being a Demon King, how did Draken and his 2 predecessors obtain the Job then?"
" Ah! Sorry. One of the criteria is to be accepted by the majority of Demons as being Worthy of being King. In the times before the tournament this was done by mostly Achievements in Battle, either foreign or domestic. To stop Strong Demons from continually killing other Strong Demons, Draken the Wise implemented the tournament with a no kill policy. To achieve acknowledgment and keep our numbers up was the main deciding factor. His Wisdom is one of the many reasons he is remembered fondly as one of and the first of the Great Kings of our people."
I asked and I was answered. After which, Warrick spoke again.
" Now where was I? Oh yes!"
Then, after collecting his thoughts, he continued his recounting of the past.
" Now, I was technically the head of a more progressive faction of young Demon Noble youths at the time, we all wanted to try to be on friendly terms with the Humans after our Peoples had fought for so long. However, there were other factions who thought differently. The biggest and strongest of which was led by Dardus Clearfield, another Demon from a Duke's House whom I beat in the tournament final. After defeating him, Dardus and his loyal followers declared independence and left Diablos. I had hoped that was where Dardus and my story would end, unfortunately it continues to this day."
Warrick looking regretful, but continued to speak.
" Life went on, Aqua and I were blessed with 5 children Alex, our Eldest son, Thomas, our 2nd son, Andros, our 3rd son, Sarah, our eldest daughter and 4th child. Then finally Cynthia, our 2nd daughter and our youngest."
" Where are the others?"
I asked Warrick about his other kids. I was pretty curious by their absence from the dinner table.
" Alex is 27 and the 1st lieutenant of the Northern Border Guard. After participating in some skirmishes in the Northern region, he was saved by the Commander of the Northern Border Guard and decided to learn from The Commander as a Squire and has climbed the Ranks pretty fast! He's become a fearsome Axe User. Thomas is 25 and is a Teacher at the Blackstone Royal Academy, he teaches Magic. He takes after his Mother in regard to Magic Talent. Andros is 23 and works under Sandra and is currently Captain of the 3rd Intelligence Gathering Team, his Skills in Espionage... Well, I wonder who they come from? Cynthia is studying at the Blackstone Royal Academy. She turned 16 this year and is shaping up to be a monster on par with the rest of us in terms of combat. Truly I'm blessed with a Great Family, aren't I?"
Warrick said all of that with a widening smile after every word, showing more of a father's disposition than a King's, but I'll keep that observation to myself.
Warrick letting loose a prideful smile, recounts the status of his children. Though as he reminisced on memories of his children, Aqua skillfully interjected into his prideful ramblings to ask Sarah a question.
" Sarah, since you're here, why don't you tell him what you were doing before the Curse?"
Aqua winks at Sarah who proceeds to wink back and begins to speak.
" Well, I'm Sarah Dreadnaught! I'm 21 years old, I just Graduated Top of My Class at the Royal Academy and currently trying to decide what I want to do with my life.... Granted I think I know now."
Sarah energetically listed off everything while staring at me quite hard... I couldn't hear that last part, but I guess she just mumbles on occasion? She spoke so normally until then though... I didn't mess up the healing, did I!? As I was about to ask her, she continued to speak to me.
" My hobbies are reading and training. My dream is to be able to be a Supportive Wife and be able to follow My Husband to war if the need arises like My Mother!"
" What a surprising dream for a Princess to have."
I muttered. then I decided to ask what her Job was.
" Hey Sarah, what is your Job? I saw you swinging a halberd in your memory, and you used your Mana to summon a spear... And you used Magic to dodge Peter's lightning bolts, right?"
" My Job is Magic Spearman!"
She answered my question excitedly.
" John, as you are our Friend, I don't mind sharing things like our Job's with you. But please remember that Jobs are extremely personal to people and they won't usually just give that information up."
Aqua reprimanded me like a teacher scolding a student for acting up in class. Though as I know this was a form of care for me, I nodded to her and responded in a way I thought was appropriate.
" Understood Aqua."
