Lira had Kennedy wrapped up like a burrito on the couch. A boba tea, honey milk, had 6 straws stuck together coming out of it, so she didn’t even have to unwrap her arms to take a sip. The Ghost Brothers yelled at noises and dust on the TV, providing white(heh) noise and some excellent positive energy to buoy her mood.
She’d collected herself almost entirely, but she felt like she’d been hit by a truck. The aftershocks of the panic attack and Cait’s mad dash through the city had not done a body good.
Lira herself clung to the outside of Kennedy’s blanket cocoon, alternating between pretending to enjoy the show and stealing concerned glances at Kennedy’s exhausted face.
“I’m fine, babes,” Kennedy said, hoping her smile reached her eyes. It actually felt like it did. The beginnings of romance hadn’t made Lira any worse at her best friend duties.
“No you’re fucking not,” scoffed Lira, hugging tight enough that Kennedy felt it through the layers of soft fluffy blanket armor. She grinned up at her, the boundless positivity that defined her radiating from her face like actual light. “But you will be.”
“Yeah, I will.” Kennedy returned her smile, really feeling it this time.
The door opened, and an extremely sheepish looking Cait walked through. Both women glared at her.
“Hey, uh, your mom said you’d come back up here,” she said by way of greeting. She rubbed at the back of her neck, and Kennedy almost let her glare break to chuckle at the big girl’s body language. This was not her usual aura.
“How much did she yell at you?” Lira asked, heat in her voice, and not the fun kind. “I need to figure out if I need to tip-off MedCorps to your schedule as pennace for running off or not.”
“A lot, but you probably should anyway. Nothing like an asshole-centric Saw trap to teach a girl a lesson on reliability.”
Kennedy did giggle at that, and Lira’s glare shifted to her for a split second before she looked mortified and turned back to Cait. She held the glare for a second before sighing and sitting up with a ‘hup!’. Kennedy squeaked as Lira lifted her burrito up at angle, freeing a couch cushion.
“Fine,” Lira groaned. “Get in here you emotionally illiterate skank. This isn’t a one-woman fix.”
Cait grinned, full dazzle, and that alone made Kennedy feel just a little better. Despite Cait trying to push her out, she’d never let the link drop, and now the Amazon let her fully in as Lira dropped her back into Cait’s lap.
She felt the weight of Cait’s arm fall across her chest, pressed further in as Lira rested herself on top of it.
Stolen story; please report.
I think I get thunder jackets now. Dogs know what's up.
She closed her eyes and wiggled a bit, snuggling into the blankets and the two beautiful women surrounding her. She opened them to find Cait’s forest green irises staring down at her, face all apology.
“Sorry, Kennedy,” she said, followed with a wave of remorse across their link. “Didn’t think you needed what I had on offer. How are you?”
“Better,” Kennedy said, with a soft smile she hoped Cait didn’t also take as granting innocence. She was pissed. “Hard to stay upset with the Brothers up there.”
She nodded to the screen, where the titular trio ran screaming out of house after one of them walked through a cobweb.
“But fuck, Cait,” she said, sighing, “you’ve got the link support down, but…. I need you too.”
“Why the fuck do you think I pranked you into a throuple?” Lira interjected, glaring at Cait again. “Kennedy is wayyyy too much for one woman to handle.”
Heh, bet that’s the first time Cait’s heard that about any one but herself.
Regardless, couldn’t let that go unanswered, and she struggled against her burrito, but couldn’t even get a hand out to slap as Lira and Cait ganged up on her.
“I see what you mean,” Cait said, arm tight around Kennedy as she grinned at Lira.
“Bitch is fucking feral!” Lira agreed, letting her glare drop into a wicked smile.
“I bite!” yelled Kennedy, “I don’t need arms to draw blood!”
Cait’s face was suddenly an inch from her own, her breath tickling Kennedy’s lips. It never really smelled like anything but her, and she loved it.
“Promise?” Cait asked, dropping her voice to a rasp that set Kennedy ablaze. She turned away.
“Not right now, I guess,” she replied, catching her own lower lip between her teeth. She wanted it to be Cait’s, to taste the salty-sweet of her skin as she ran her tongue along her lip, biting hard and playful.
That was more than she was going to be able to handle though.
She saw Lira looking up at her, concerned, but also… maybe a little relieved? Kennedy reached out for her emotions, something she almost never did with Lira anymore. Unfortunately, after years of friendship and dancing around each other, the redhead had gotten far too skilled at hiding her true feelings from Kennedy, even the obvious ones, so it was useless.
Lira’s face wiped to a teasing grin, fixing her eyes on Cait.
“Y’know, if you’re offering….” She purred, pushing up off of Kennedy, bringing her face close to Cait’s.
Kennedy’s pulse raced as #2 and 3 on her closest people list locked lips inches above her face.
Her emotions were so fucked right now. The thought of even kissing one of them, enticing as it may be, also made her worry they’d end up tasting those cheese curds from earlier. The thought of these two going at it on top of her though?
Their kiss intensified as Cait felt her excitement. Even from below, Kennedy could see her perfect pink lips twitch up in a grin. She could almost feel Lira’s tongue trace along Cait’s lip, before flicking into her mouth and meeting the Amazon’s. Cait’s hand rose off of Kennedy, finding the back of Lira’s neck.
Kennedy felt something she couldn’t define from Lira, and the redhead’s eyes shot open, looking down at Kennedy. They looked… pained?
She softened her kiss, letting her tongue rest and gently pressing her lips to Cait’s before dropping her head to Kennedy’s chest and snuggling in. Kennedy almost giggled looking at Cait, who took a moment to confusedly un-pucker her lips and move her hand from where it had rested on Lira’s neck.
“Thanks Cait!” Lira said cheerfully, as Cait let her arm fall to her back.
“Uh, yeah, no problem,” Cait replied, and Kennedy could feel her confusion as the trio just went back to watching Ghost Brothers.
