Before Miri headed out to the actual dungeon where the rune was supposedly located, she’d need to make some preparations beforehand. First, she’d need to sell whatever loot she’d taken from the goblins she’d killed. Next, she’d need to head to a vendor where she could buy additional gear to bolster her fighting power—things like spell runes, talismans, weapons, armor, and potions.
While she couldn’t buy much due to her limited amount of funds, she tried her best to make the most out of her money by prioritizing on things that were absolutely essential for her success.
The first thing on the list was mana potions. Because of her specific build, she tended to use more mana than most other builds, which meant that replenishing her mana was going to be crucial to her survival.
The second thing was an additional spell. It needed to fill in the niches that her other spells were not covering. Starlight Bolt was good for single target, mid-range damage. Crescent Arc was good for multi-target, close-range damage. After scanning through all the available spells from the vendors—taking into account various factors such as price, stat requirement, and fulfilling niches—she decided that her third spell was going to be “Meteor Impact”.
Meteor Impact [Rank 1]: Summons a meteor at a designated area, damaging all nearby enemies.
Mana cost: 18
Requirements: Fire 9, Earth 4
The third thing was a mount. After that treacherous journey of walking for several hours, she sure as hell wasn’t going to do that ever again. Why bother walking when you could ride a horse or similar animal? Of course, out of all the items she needed, this one was perhaps the most expensive. And based on how much money she had left, the best she could afford at the moment was the poorest quality mount of them all: the thorn-tusk boar.

Miri dreaded at the thought of riding one of those things. If she remembered correctly, the thorn-tusk boar was one of the least expensive mounts in the game. Unsurprisingly, it was also one of the worst mounts in the game due to its absolutely horrendous temperament, which caused it to occasionally veer off into a random direction against the rider’s command and even buck the rider off from its back seemingly out of nowhere.
Initially, this mount was included in a special giveaway event and was meant to be an April Fools joke. However, video clips of players getting bucked off from the boar had gotten viral on social media, causing the devs to reconsider putting this abomination of a creature as a permanent option for a legitimate mount in the actual game. That, my friends, is the power of Internet stupidity.
In fact, the only other option that’s legitimately worse than the thorn-tusk boar was the millennium turtle, which, you guessed it, was an actual giant turtle that moved about a hundred times slower than the player character’s own walking speed. The only reason I didn’t pick the turtle over the boar was that the turtle actually cost way more than the boar. About a thousand times more, in fact—the fifth most expensive mount in the game.
Why was one of the slowest mounts in the game also one of the most expensive? Because the devs of this game had a terrible sense of humor. That’s why! Oh, and also, while riding the turtle, the player character gets a mild passive health regen bonus and a +50 armor rating. But, honestly, with how slow the turtle moved, it’s definitely not worth the money. Both the turtle and the boar were created as nothing more than memes and nothing else.
Well, jokes on Miri, she guessed, because she's going to buy one of the boars. Either that, or she’s walking on foot until she earns enough money to buy a more decent mount. And she is not walking on foot!
