The two disciples on guard duty chuckled seeing Gu Xuan’s awkward reaction before introducing themselves.
The disciple on the left, “I’m Yu Wencheng, you can just call me Senior Brother Cheng.”
“I’m Zhong Wenling, you can just call me Senior Brother Ling too.” The disciple on the right added.
Gu Xuan smiled and greeted, “Senior Brother Cheng, Senior Brother Ling, I’ll be in your care.”
They just waved their hands in reply, and then Yu Wencheng replied, “Since it’s your first time in the Central District, why don’t Old Ling show you around. We would have done it together if it was normal times but one has to stay watch in the Central District’s Main Gate since it’s the Sect Mission that we took in the Mission Hall.”
“I see, then I’ll trouble Senior Brother Ling to show me around.” Gu Xuan nodded to Yu Wencheng and turned his attention to Zhong Wenling.
Zhong Wenling also nodded with a smile, and started walking towards the inner parts of the Central District, “Come, I’ll show you around. Don’t be too formal, now that you’ll be a Central District disciple, we’re all family here.”
“Yes.” Gu Xuan politely smiled and didn’t say anymore.
However, Gu Xuan became even more sure that it was the correct decision that he didn’t expose his talent yet.
His talent is basically monstrous within the Moonlight Sect.
The disdain they show to those who are not at the same level is too obvious as could be seen from their first encounter.
Furthermore, Zhong Wenling said “Central District” rather than “Moonlight Sect.”
The elitism and pride is fine because it respects their hard work and talent but when it reaches the level of a young master ego where one acts like a brainless fool?
Gu Xuan honestly doesn’t want any part of it.
What if a narrow-minded jealous elder appears and targets him, suspecting him of possessing a great treasure?
Wouldn’t his life be miserable?
At least, that’s Gu Xuan’s first impression but just in case, he would like to avoid such situations because he doesn’t want to cut his journey short.
He plans on living for at least a few hundred thousand years if not millions in a cultivation world.
Zhong Wenling began to lead Gu Xuan inside the Central District and as they stepped closer and closer to the man-made road of the Central District, Gu Xuan’s eyes couldn’t help but widen, “This is…?!”
Although cultivators of the lower Qi Gathering Realm can’t sense the inner qi in other people’s body, they can still sense the spiritual qi in the surrounding because if they can’t, how would they even be able to absorb it in the first place?
Zhong Wenling chuckled at Gu Xuan’s reaction and proudly recalled, “Everyone has the same exact reaction when they first step in the Central District, even I was the same! Haha! It’s the advantage of Central District Disciple, the new environment. The spiritual qi concentration in the Central District is twice as much as that of the Lower District and this is only at the Central District’s height.”
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
Zhong Wenling then turned his gaze at the peak of the mountain and continued, “Do you see that peak where the sect leader stays? The concentration of spiritual qi over there is…”
He got nearer to Gu Xuan and whispered to his ear, “5 times. I went there once to report due to a sect mission so I could only stay for a minute before leaving but I still felt that rich, and enviable condition for cultivation.”
‘5 times?! It’ll take me more or less 8-10 years before I could probably break through the 4th Layer of Qi Gathering Realm but at the peak, it’ll only take me 1-2 years?’ Gu Xuan’s heart couldn’t help but beat fast.
He didn’t expect such a benefit in a low level sect like the Moonlight Sect.
After all, with such conditions, the highest cultivator is only at the 4th Layer of Qi Gathering Realm?
‘What’s going on? Are they that lazy?’ Gu Xuan thought with a frown, after all, in the lower district where the spiritual qi concentration was 5 times worse, he was able to reach the 3rd layer, what are they doing with that rich environment?
‘Should I reveal my talent?’ Because of the good condition, Gu Xuan couldn’t help but think again but he shook his head and thought to himself, ‘No, let’s just learn a movement martial arts for now and hone my combat ability through experience and eventually, maybe usurp the throne from the sect master when I reach his level rather than relying on uncontrollable factors.’
Gu Xuan might be very strong in terms of inner qi quantity but he was no match for the experienced sect leader.
He might not even be as strong as Zhong Wenling who was laughing beside him in terms of combat experience.
Zhong Wenling continued to show him around as they walked around.
Although the Central District seems quite large, that’s only the surface area, as for the building there weren’t much besides wooden houses that dime a dozen, and a couple of bigger houses with their unique qualities
Meanwhile there seems to be more houses that go around the surrounding of the mountain like the coiling path but a plateau version of it instead of climbing up.
As they stepped in the middle of the road, surrounded by the bigger buildings as one enters the Central District, Zhong Wenling began introducing the buildings to him.
“The building over there is the Forging House. You can go there anytime to get a wooden sword or anything you want as long as the quality doesn’t exceed a standard weapon. As for other weapons with unique materials, you have to pay sect points after completing sect missions you take from the Mission Hall.”
“Take note, sect missions outside the sect are the ones that pay the most but it can get quite dangerous since sect missions outside usually involve fighting against bandits that have broken through the Qi Gathering Realm. Not only that, due to their line of business, they mostly have rich combat experience so your life will be put on the line.”
Gu Xuan nodded and inquired, “What about the other buildings and small wooden houses?”
“Well, the 2-story pavilion is the Martial Arts Library, the 3-story pavilion is the Treasure Pavilion where you can get treasures inside depending on your tier level as you register, or you can also pay for the treasures with sect points. There’s also the white building, the Infirmary where you get yourself treated in case you get injured. The last building is the Mission Hall where you can register for sect missions. As for the other two, it’s pretty much self-explanatory. The Mess Hall has lots of tables, it’s where you get food, and the last one is the Wood Storage.”
Gu Xuan turned his attention to the building with a lot of chairs and tables at the front and the one with a lot of wood and nodded in understanding.
“The small wooden houses?”
“That’s where we can stay after we climb the Central District. You can occupy any as long as there’s no one inside. You can tell by the plaque that says from the door, ‘Occupied’ or ‘Unoccupied.’ There’s only a hundred of them built around the sect but there should still be vacancies. If there are none, you can only issue a challenge to switch with them.”
Zhong Wenling nodded to himself then turned to Gu Xuan, “That’s basically it. In any case, you have to register at the Mission Hall first to get your uniform and have them lead you to the Forging House to get your Sect Token made so you can get a treasure from the Treasure Pavilion as well as your identity made.”
“I see, then, thank you, Senior Brother Ling for showing me around. I’ll go get my Sect Token first so I can get my identity.”
“No problem, Junior Brother Xuan. I’ll go back to the gate first since I don’t want my sect points reduced, haha.”
“Yes, thank you again for your trouble, Senior Brother.” Gu Xuan smiled.
Zhong Wenling also smiled as he waved his hand, walking back towards the gate, “No trouble, no trouble.”
Seeing Zhong Wenling go back, Gu Xuan headed towards the Mission Hall as told by Zhong Wenling and went inside.
Upon walking in, there were two desks near the entrance, a young woman and a middle-aged man. The middle-aged man had his feet on the table, a book to his face, and seemed to be sleeping.
As for the young woman, she was organizing something from her desk but since she was the one awake, Gu Xuan walked in her direction.
As the young woman sensed Gu Xuan’s presence in her peripheral vision, the young woman turned to his direction and smiled, “Welcome to the Mission Hall. How can I help you?”
