Emilio kept raising his Body Stat with the free points until he reached a total of 7 points. With his third Stat at 7 points, he was really close to fulfilling the ‘Show Promise’ quest. He was only lacking in the Energy department and still had two full trials to reach 7 in the Stat. Not only that, but he had the full 10 points in two of the Stats.
With his Stats upgrading he also improved his weapon all the way to Rank 2 [Passable], which it still seemed a weird way to name a quality for Emilio, but it was not his call. He also got a new Trait for his Body, and it was quite predictable what it did.
It was nothing different than what he expected, but he couldn't complain when he got such a nice improvement.
After he finished upgrading his Body, Emilio focused again on Tuor who appeared to have pulled himself together once again.
“Do you feel better?” Emilio asked.
“Much, I’m sorry for how I reacted. You are for sure the luckiest person I’ve ever met.”
“If you want to keep count, we also have to add our friendship to that lucky tab. Having information on how to proceed is beyond lucky,” Emilio pointed out.
“You are right, I hadn’t considered it before, but it is a big lucky development for you. From now on I will have to modify my expectations for you, adding your luck to them,” Tuor decided.
“I won’t complain if I keep being lucky. I kind of need it right now.”
Tuor nodded at his newest friend, but he seemed like he wanted something. In the end he gave up and asked what he wanted. “Are you going to keep me in suspense? What did the System do for you to be able to wield your daggers?”
Emilio laughed at his reaction and just shared the single line System message.
“Are there any details?” Tuor asked.
“No, just what I shared. Is it something common?” Emilio asked.
“Sometimes. It is the System way of saying ‘Find by yourself’. Try wielding the daggers,” Tuor instructed.
Emilio unsheathed one of them and tried a few of the moves that Rafael taught him.
“Do you feel anything?” Tuor asked.
“Nothing at all.”
“Then it is working. You should be feeling pressured if you were wielding a higher tier weapon,” Tuor explained.
“How does that work exactly?”
“The weapon has an aura corresponding to the Rank and strength. If your Stats are not high enough to handle it, you will be pressured or worse. You can usually carry them, but when you wield them you will have to withstand the aura,” Tuor explained.
“Is there any way to know if I will be pressured without wielding it?” Emilio asked.
“There are some Skills that allow you to perceive the aura. Also you can develop the skill by yourself by controlling your Stats. They are usually linked to Mind and Energy.”
Emilio nodded and decided to leave the matter as concluded, he could wield his daggers and that was good enough for him.

“Can I ask you some more questions that we thought about during the week?” Emilio asked.
“Sure. I have to provide you with your worth of information, haven’t I?”
“We are eating much more food after raising the Stats. Is there a way to control it? How can you stabilize an economy while eating this amount of food?”
“Ohh, I completely forgot that one. It is so normal that I didn’t realize you didn’t know. You have two ways to solve it. The first one is eating higher Ranked food. If you eat the meat of a Rank 2 beast, you can sustain a Rank 2 easily. I suppose you are eating the same food you ate before.”
“We are, how can we get a higher Rank food? As far as we know humans are the only ones who could Rank up.”
“That is your grace period for the integration. Actually, this whole shop is. After the first month, when the shop closes, the real integration will start and you will be able to find higher Ranked animals and plants to eat.”
“That seems scary, but it will be a solution for the problem. For the moment, I will have to keep eating a ton of food to sustain myself, right?”
“Yes and no. There is another way, just not for you yet. Your Energy Stat can help you sustain yourself. When you raise your Energy you will be able to use it to sustain your other Stats and recover it from the World Energy. If you use your Energy to help you out, you will just need to eat a normal amount of food at the cost of some of your energy. As long as you have earned your first Stat Trait and improve your control it should be quite easy to do.”
Emilio shook his head, when he realized he still had no way to solve it for himself.
“At least there is a way. Any idea on how much food I will need?”
“Each point in Vitality and Body requires the same amount of food, Mind needs about half of that. Lastly, Energy just equilibrates the balance when all the Stats are the same. If you want to put it in units. Mind requires 1 unit of food, Body and Vitality 2 units, and energy can help you reduce it in 5. Of course, the first point in the Stat doesn't count as it is the same as nothing,” Tuor explained
“Wait, those numbers don’t make sense. If it was like that I should have been eating several times more than people with lower Stats my whole life,” Emilio calculated. He had started with quite high Stats and he should have been eating more than other people even if he didn’t gain any Stat.
“Sometimes evolution changes things up a little, did someone on your planet have to eat more food than the rest?”
“No, all about the same. Well, If you did sports maybe?” Emilio speculated.
“Then that standard is equal among all Earthlings, maybe there are some slight changes with the Body Stat in there, but should be equal for all as long as you don’t increase your Stats. The moment you start raising your Stats, the amount will start changing following the numbers I gave you.”
“That makes sense. Going by that theory, before today I was eating about 16 units and now I should be eating 33. I can’t believe I doubled the amount from the amount I was eating.”
“That sounds about right. You might want to consider raising your Energy if you want to eat less.”
“That will be for the next Trial. For the moment I have other questions. I’ve been sleeping less, is this normal?” Emilio asked.
“It’s one of the effects of Vitality. You will not stop sleeping, but you will sleep less, there is a point where you can stop sleeping but that is at a far higher Rank.”
Emilio nodded and went directly to his next question, “What is a good training or working schedule with the new Stats. Before the System we usually had 8 hours of sleep, 8 hours of work and the rest was free time, with two days a week without work.”
“Did you use your free time to train?” Tuor asked.
“Some people, but not most. After all, we didn’t have Stats to develop. Many people trained just a bit to keep a healthy body, and others didn’t train at all.”
“You mentioned that your planet focused on entertainment. It makes sense why, it’s just that I can’t imagine living without the System. In the Realm you would usually have different options. It mainly depends on if your work can help you develop your Stats. Usually, you would spend 80% of your awake time either working or training, sometimes taking a day off because of extraordinary matters.”
Emilio did the math on what that meant for a regular person that slept 8 hours and it was working 13 hours a day without weekends.
“Are you crazy? Are you all workaholics?” Emilio gasped horrified “How is that effective? People would get tired and be exhausted all around! Even with our schedule we were studying if we should shorten the working day to 6 hours.”
“And what would you do with the rest of your day? Sooner or later you would get bored and start training,” Tuor countered, showing the difference of cultures between Earth and the rest of the Realm.
“That is what the entertainment industry is for,” Emilio explained.
“Ha, as if that would be enough to stop people from training.” Tuor refused to accept what good entertainment could do.
“You will see soon enough and I trust you will be convinced. Either way, it doesn’t seem you can help us out with this and we have to do our own studies.”
“I would like to see how you will convince me to use more of my time on unproductive stuff. Especially as much as you say you need.”
Tuor had no idea what kind of addictions were waiting for him, being prepared for him at that very same moment.
