The next morning, Emilio decided to check his Skills again, he wanted to know how much he had improved before entering the Trial again where he could get more.
Both are at almost 100%. Maybe I was not supposed to train them by cutting myself. Well, I will not complain about improving.
Actually, this improvement was not that surprising. Almost everything he did for the whole week involved getting hurt and regenerating. He even developed a synergy between his Skills by using Focus Vitality to improve his Regeneration.
After checking the Skills, Emilio received the breakfast delivery. It had only been a few days but he was already getting used to it. He was loving having his meals delivered to his house and was really grateful to Milagros for that perk. Even if he knew the money KimTec was earning with his information was uncountable times more than this expense he was still grateful for making the deal with them.
Both him and his niece enjoyed another bakery breakfast and received their teachers at their home. This time, they went without their partners because the plan was to organize what to do in the trial and not train.
To Emilio’s surprise, Gabriela entered the house with her daughter. Apparently, the young lady didn’t want to stay with his dad and preferred to come and play with Amelia after everything was planned. With no lack of back and forth, her mother gave up and brought her over.
The result was a really happy Amelia, who had someone who had already become her friend over and an indifferent Emilio who really didn't mind her.
After both teachers (and an extra teenager) arrived, the whole group sat in the living room to discuss what to do.
“The next Trial starts today and we are going to take it as soon as it opens. That means that at 7PM we will be entering the Monolith. Do we all agree?” Rafael asked.
“Actually, I wanted to wait a little bit more so I can have time to talk a little with Tuor,” Emilio pointed out.
“Why can’t you do that at 7?” Victoria asked.
“Because someone has to apologize to him and leave him a big tip,” Emilio said, looking at his niece.
“I know, you told me a thousand times already,” Amelia complained, rolling her eyes. Her uncle kept nagging her about this and she already knew she had messed up her relationship with Tuor for the moment. She sure hoped the man was up for an apology or she would not stop hearing about this from her uncle.
“I see now issue with you entering a little bit late. What we have to decide is which Trial we are going to take. I’ve been talking with Rafael about what is the best Stat for you to improve,” Gabriela explained.
“Emilio, you need to improve much faster with your technique,” Rafael continued, “Thanks to Victoria we realized that Mind will help you with that. We talked to Milagros to confirm it and she appears to be feeling the same. From what we’ve gather that Stat will allow you to comprehend how to improve much faster.”
“As for you Ami. You can choose either Mind for the same reason or Energy to make your Gun useful. It is your choice. You don’t need Mind as urgently because you did not choose a weapon that requires that much technique to use it at a basic level,” Gabriela finished their instructions.
“I want to improve my Energy!” Amelia happily exclaimed.
“That’s good. I will go with the Mind Trial, same as Emilio,” Rafael stated.
“I will take Energy. I kind of want to know how this Energy actually works. Also, I need it for my guns too, what about you Vic?” Gabriela asked her daughter.
“Can I choose Body?” Victoria asked.
“It seems good to me,” Her mother agreed.

“Don’t,” Amelia interrupted them with a serious face. “I can’t say more but don’t do it.”
Everyone stared at her with surprise. She was the only one in the group who had taken the Body Trial. If she was saying that, she definitely had a reason.
“Does this have to do with the System limitations?” Emilio asked seriously.
“Yes,” the girl answered.
“Would it be bad if I take the Body Trial?” Rafael asked.
“You might be good. Gabriela too, but maybe you should wait,” Amelia answered as much as she could, leaving the rest thinking about what she said.
“I will take that into account. Is it ok to take Vitality?” Victoria changed her decision.
“It should be fine with that one,” Emilio answered her while he was trying to guess the reason behind his niece's reaction.
“This solves the Trial issue, what about today? Are we going to train?” Amelia asked.
“You should rest and be in your best shape for the Trial,” Gabriela instructed.
“Can I stay with Amelia?” Victoria asked.
“Emi, can she stay?” The mother asked.
“Sure, why not?” Emilio agreed “I should also call Mili to verify what I need to talk with Tuor.”
“It’s good to see that you didn’t forget,” Rafael said.
“Why would I forget?” Emilio asked.
“Are you not the guy who was committing a felony when I met him only because he forgot the law?” Rafael asked.
“It is not the same!” Emilio complained.
“If you say so… See you in the afternoon then,” he said while standing to leave.
“I will leave too. Be sure to rest for the Trial, I will meet you by the Monolith,” Gabriela said while trying to hug her daughter, who almost fought against the hug.
As soon as the teachers left, the two girls ran to play some video games together.
Emilio decided to text Milagros to see when she was available to talk, which resulted to be at that very moment.
“Hi Emi, how are you?” She asked over the phone.
“Great, getting ready for the Trials.”
“ I think half of the world is doing the same. What do you think of your teachers?”
“They are great, thank you very much for everything.”
“I would say it is an investment, but given where we stand, it is not anymore. We might be taking advantage of you with the information you provided. You have no idea how much we are making.”
“Are you finally going to tell me?”
“Not a chance. Just know that you can ask me for whatever you want.”
“Now that you mention it. Rafael said that I need some dagger replicas that can resist more for when we upgrade our Body,” Emilio asked in the place of his teacher.
“He commented on it and they are already being made. We hired a japanese swordsmith to do them. I will tell you when they arrive. Are you going to take that Trial today?”
“No, I think I will leave it for last.”
“Then we are in no hurry, the wooden ones will work fine. Even if they break, we can get more in a few days.
“On another subject. We were able to buy the Gym and the Hotel where your teachers are staying so we can use them indefinitely. We are also buying five houses around yours, so if anybody else needs to move nearby, they can. In the next few days all the paperwork will be done and your teachers will be able to move to their new houses.”
“I can’t believe you are giving them houses, but even like that, why 5 of them?”
“How else could I convince someone talented to move instantly to teach you? It’s part of our deal for your information. We really want to buy more, but it is hard to buy houses when people would have to move far away from the Monoliths where they are taking the Trials. If you and your niece are future talents we might need them.”
“The information about changing Monoliths is in the information subscription, right?”
“Yes, in the one that does not need a verification. Didn’t you get it? I sent all of them to your business mail.”
“Uhh, I haven’t turned on the computer since Monday morning.”
“I should have expected that, but you didn’t put an out of office message so I thought you were checking them. You should at least have an auto reply for people to contact me if they need something.”
“I kind of had other things in my mind, like being beaten up all day.”
“It is my fault. After all, you were ready to quit this.”
“But I didn’t and it was better for both of us, right?”
“I have to agree on that. Did you want to talk to me about something?”
“Yes, are there any news about the cell phone for Tuor?”
“We are at work with that one, we are curating content to have it preloaded in the phone. It will show the best things earth has to offer while hiding everything that can show how we reached our state of development. We will have it ready for the next Trial. For now, you should focus on figuring out if a full collaboration with his people is possible.”
“I also wanted to talk with you about what I have to ask him.”
“Let me postpone some of the things I have this morning and I will be all yours.” Milagros had quite a lot of plans ready for the first ever political meeting with aliens. Sadly, the politician that had to do the negotiations was Emilio Castro, and she still didn’t really know how he was going to handle it.
