Ch. 55 I’m Kyel… I’m your husband

(Eva and Kyel’s House — Midnight)

The house was silent, yet Eva could not stay still.

She paced back and forth across the small living room, her fingers trembling as she bit her nail, eyes returning again and again to the front door. Every creak of wood, every whisper of wind made her heart jump.

She stopped, clasping her hands tightly against her chest, staring at the door as if willing it to open.

  Then—

The sound of the door unlocking echoed through the room.

Eva straightened instantly, her face lighting up with relief.

  “He’s here…”

  The door burst open.

  Kyel stood at the threshold.

Eva smiled, rushing forward, her voice warm and familiar.

  “Honey, you’re back… welcome ho—”

Her words died in her throat.

Kyel suddenly dropped to his knees.

The sound of his knees hitting the floor was sharp, final.

  Eva froze.

Slowly, Kyel raised his hand. His fingers flicked once—and the disguise magic shattered like glass. In the next breath, the man kneeling before her was no longer Kyel.

  It was

Eva’s breath caught painfully in her chest, her eyes widening.

  Eyan flicked his fingers again.

His appearance shifted—Kyel, then Eyan, then Kyel once more—over and over, as if his own identity was tearing him apart.

Eva opened her mouth to speak—

But before she could say a word, Eyan bowed deeply, lowering himself until his forehead touched the floor.

  His voice shook violently.

“Please… forgive me for lying to you.”

  Another broken breath.

“Please forgive me for keeping you in the dark.”

His hands trembled as they clenched against the floor.

  “I’m Kyel… I’m your husband.”

  His voice cracked completely.

“You can hit me… you can hurt me however you want. I won’t say a word.”

  Tears spilled freely now.

“But please forgive me… for everything I’ve done.”

His shoulders shook as sobs tore from his chest.

“Please… don’t ever do something like that again.”

His voice dropped to a whisper, desperate and terrified.

  “I beg you…”

Eyan cried openly, his body trembling, pride forgotten, fear laid bare.

Eva stared at him, her own vision blurring with tears.

  Then she moved.

She knelt in front of him and gently pulled his head into her arms, pressing him against her chest.

“I already knew,” she whispered through her tears.

  Eyan stiffened.

Slowly, he lifted his head, disbelief written across his face as his eyes met hers.

  “…You knew?”

Eva nodded, her hands trembling as they cupped his face, touching him with heartbreaking care.

“Yes. I knew you were Kyel.”

  His breath hitched.

  “Since when…?”

  His voice was barely sound.

  “How did you find out?”

  Eva hesitated.

  “That—”

Realization struck him like a blade.

  “…That night,” he whispered.

“The night I came to see you as Eyan… you were awake, weren’t you?” (From Ch. 11)

  Eva nodded softly.

“Yes. I found out that night.”

  Eyan broke.

He grabbed her hand and pressed it to his face, crying openly.

“You don’t hate me… do you?”

  His voice trembled with fear.

“I’m sorry. I had my reasons to lie to you…”

Eva wiped his tears gently, her own falling freely.

  “No… I don’t hate you.”

Her voice was steady despite the pain.

  “I told you many times.”

Then she smiled—fragile, trembling, and sincere.

That was the moment Eyan shattered completely.

He pulled her into his arms, hugging her tightly as he cried into her shoulder.

  “I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…”

Eva hugged him just as tightly, her fingers burying themselves in his hair.

  “Don’t apologize.”

“I was scared…” he whispered, his voice breaking completely.

  “I was scared.”

His breath came out uneven, almost painful.

  “When your heart stopped beating…”

He shook his head, unable to continue for a moment.

“When you didn’t move,” he choked, pressing his forehead hard against her shoulder, “when you wouldn’t open your eyes—”

  His hands clutched her desperately.

“I called your name. I shook you. I begged you to breathe.”

His voice cracked, splintering with every word.

“But you were so still… so cold.”

Tears soaked into her clothes as his body trembled violently.

“I thought I had lost you.”

He pulled back just enough to look at her, eyes red and desperate.

“Don’t leave me alone again. I can’t live without you.”

Eva pressed her forehead to his, tears slipping down her cheeks.

  “I won’t,” she whispered.

  “I promise.”

And for the first time, in the quiet of their small home, the lies finally fell away—leaving only truth, love, and two broken hearts holding each other in the dark.
